4 Miller Family

“Cosette, I am so sorry for what happened. A crew member made a mistake. Please take care of yourself and make a full recovery before you ask any questions.” Cosette was not flustered by the accident. She knew there were always risks involved in her field and it was not the first and probably not the last time it would happen, so she just nodded understandingly. Cosette could tell Elliot was genuinely upset and concerned over the situation. “I am doing well! Accidents happen. I hope it has not caused too much trouble with the crew.” Cosette expressed her concern. Ethan did not look so understanding. He turned to Elliot, his unhappiness still evident. “I do hope you have more explanation for her than just a mistake was made.” Elliot shuffled with discomfort. “You can rest assured the matter will be investigated thoroughly Ethan. Once we know you will know.” Elliot had a reputation to uphold in the industry. He had made a name for himself directing successful shows and directing Oscar winning actresses such as Penelope Wayne. He was known and respected and he was used to being treated with the benefit of the doubt and respect. He was not used to be treated with the distrustfulness Ethan was currently displaying. However, Elliot was not responding the way others who knew him expected him to act. He had remained calm and understanding to Ethan’s anger. Ethan was a famous actor but there seemed to be more about him that forced Elliot to treat him with respect regardless. The doctor returned, checking Cosette’s screen quickly, then looked around the packed room. “The patient needs to rest. We need to limit visitors.” Elliot nodded. He had said his piece there was no more reason for them to stay and bother her. “We will be heading out Cosette, please make a safe recovery. We hope to be seeing you again soon. If you need anything, please contact my assistant directly.” Cosette nodded, “I will, thank you Elliot.” With that, Elliot and the crew members headed out. In the hall, Gordon caught up with Elliot. “Is everything alright? Who is Ethan, again?” Before he could continue, Elliot cut him off with a hard look. “I do not want to hear it from you. This is not the film to be making mistakes on. I do not care what you do with other jobs, but as long as we are here no mistakes will be made. If you do something that you should not, do not blame me for being unmerciful.” Gordon watched him leave after that outburst, startled. Elliot was clearly unhappy and only putting on a calm front for the actor and actress. Back in the hospital room, Ethan sat down on the chair beside Cosette’s bed. “Oh man, Coco. Why did you want to be an actress again?” Ethan sighed. “What do you mean? I enjoy acting.” Cosette did not understand. Elvin Taylor, who had remained in the room, looked at the pair suspiciously. “What is the relationship here, if you do not mind me asking?” Elvin had not been with Ethan for long, but he knew Ethan was into woman. He also knew Ethan had never had a relationship with a woman in the industry. Even though many had shown interest, Ethan had always rejected the intimacy, including from big named actresses like Leyla. This was the first time he had seen Ethan with interest toward a female actress and their close relationship interested him. Cosette laughed. “Elvin, we are not what you seem to think. Ethan and I grew up together, we have known each other forever.” Ethan raised his eyebrows and did not say anything. Ethan and Cosette had a history for sure. Not many knew Ethan like she did, nor understand his background or where he came from. But Cosette did. Ethan was the eldest grandson of the Miller Dynasty. He had a serious role and importance in that family and normally they kept their relationship very private and out of public eye. If it were not for Stuarts accident, she would have never risked him by allowing him to recommend her for the film. “Always so formal.” Ethan sighed. “Can I ask you something? Have you met that Edward Coton fellow before?” Cosette’s smile faded as she shifted uncomfortably. “I do not know him much.” Ethan eyed her suspiciously. “That guy is not good news Cosette. I’d advise you to stay extremely far away from him.” He clearly did not buy her downplaying of their relationship. "Relax, I know," Cosette said. Ethan sighed, feeling awkward. It was an uncomfortable topic. Ethan’s sudden shyness make Cosette feel strange. It was not like him. “Well, then.” Elvin broke the silence. “It is a pleasure to meet a friend of Ethan’s.” He pulled out a card. “Please take a business card and contact me if you need anything in the future. He offered the card to Cosette. “Oh no, Elvin. I don’t know if I should!” Cosette shook her head. Elvin was a highly successful agent who worked for many remarkable actors but once he started working with Ethan, he had not picked up many new signings. Regardless, he continued to be regarded as a great agent to land. “I insist!” He pushed the card into Cosette’s hand anyways. “I think it is a great idea, you can call him directly if you need anything.” Ethan chimed in. Cosette gave in, accepting the card with a smile. “Well then, suppose I cannot deny. Thank you.” Meanwhile at the Coton ground, Edwards assistant Earl Smith pushed open the door into the president’s office. He stood there for a moment, a mix of fear and anxiety playing on his face. Edward looked up at Earl hearing the door open, his face tired. He was already quite irritable and could already tell this was going to only worsen his mood. “What is it?” “It is Stuart Weitzman, sir.” Earl said softly. “I have received news from the hospital that his condition has worsened.” Edward shrugged. “Should they not be working on helping then, since they are the doctors, not us?” Earl blinked a few times. “You had the recent hospital files redone to make Stuarts' emergency contact. They were trying to reach Cosette to inform her of the change.” Earl reminded him. In the past when Edward and Cosette had the arrangement, Edward had put himself as Stuarts'emergency contact so he could get him the help he needed quickly whenever something came up even before the news reached Cosette. Now that the arrangement was over, Edward realized this could be a problem. “Would you like me to contact Miss Cosette, sir?” Earl asked tentatively. “The hospital must have called her home but as she is at the doctor herself, she has not been informed yet.” Edward was tempted to agree that he should reach out to Cosette, remembering her and Ethan flirting in the hospital room with vengeance, but held back. “No, let me handle this. Cosette just suffered an injury as well. She may take unnecessary risks if she is brought this news without caution.” Edward stood up, reaching for his coat. Early followed him quickly.
