Chapter Five Victoria kicked the sand. Tiny grains sprayed out as her foot struck and settled in her shoes and socks. With a sigh she plonked onto her backside, peeled them off and flicked out the sand that’d worked its way between her toes. She set her shoes to the side and wrapped her arms around her knees. And groaned. An image of Dan settled into her mind. Even sitting quietly in his director’s chair, slouched and seemingly relaxed, he was totally in charge. There was something about his eyes. They watched, saw, catalogued. Penetrated. As if he could read thoughts. And her thoughts were wholly private. She’d seen him on television, smiling here, speaking there, never really in the spotlight. Knew he was a heavyweight in the industry, but television distorts faces and she had not ex
