CHAPTER 1
Woke up in a stranger’s bed I sat all alone in a club gulping down the whiskey as if my whole life depended entirely on it. I was there for three reasons. One, my boyfriend. No that asshole dumped me. Two, I'm getting married this Saturday. And the last reason is that all this happened because of that prick. If only I hadn't gone back home due to my shattered heart, maybe I wouldn't be getting married so soon. Anyway, isn’t this enough reason to celebrate? Loud music blared from the speakers and it soothed my soul. This was all I needed. Maybe not, but I felt better. I looked around and saw many people dancing with all their might on the dance floor. Should I join them? No, not now. I'm not here to dance. I’m here to think about a way to get back at that bastard. I will make him regret ever being with me in the first place. I looked at my phone for the umpteenth time for any messages from parents about the marriage thing. For real, I still think they’re joking. I don’t even know the person I'm supposedly getting married to, not to talk a zilch about the person. Why is everyone doing this to me? I gritted my teeth in anger as I thought of Michael again for the hundredth time that night. I looked at the picture of him and his ugly girlfriend and clenched my hands into a fist. I looked around again and noticed a handsome guy on a table a bit far from me. He raised his head and caught me staring at him. Our eyes locked and I gazed down in shame. How can one be that attractive? So is Michael just an example of a handsome guy? I looked at him again and he still had his beautiful eyes on me. Just as I looked away, a waitress brought me a bottle of wine and gently placed it on my table. She had a bright smile on her face. “Hey! I didn't ask for wine. All I need is whiskey,” I said. “ The guy in a white t-shirt has paid for it. He told me to bring it here.” she said, pointing at a table, and I followed her gaze to see who paid for my drink. It’s that same guy, the handsome one. He stared back at me with no expression. The guys he sat with turned to look at me and laughed. “What’s funny about what just happened? Uhn! “ I asked the waitress. “I don’t want the whiskey, take it back to him” I said, without waiting for her reply. She looked at me, surprised at my sudden outburst, and I ignored her. I took my phone and looked at nothing in particular so she could let me be. After a while, he joined my table. His eyes were more beautiful than they were from afar. “What?” i said “It’s rude to turn down drink offers, you know.” he still had no expression. “And it’s also rude to join my table without my permission”, I spat back. His lips twitched into a smile and his hard gaze didn’t leave my mouth as I spoke. “I can pay for my own drinks,” I said, glaring at him. “Do you think I got you the drink because I'm interested in you? Oh no, not at all. You’re not my type. I just felt disgusted by the sight of a woman gulping down a bottle of whiskey, so I thought it was wise to get you some wine. I’m sorry if you misunderstood my act of kindness” he said sarcastically. “Are you judging me now, Mr? I can see that you just came here to my table to piss me off and now that you’ve succeeded, you can leave”. I said plainly. I was too exhausted to argue or exchange words with him now. He smirked and shrugged as he left for his table. I was at peace once again. I ordered more whiskey and drank myself into a stupor. Only then was I satisfied. The whiskey was getting the better of me and I could feel things revolving around me. I needed to leave for home. How was I to get home drunk? At that moment, I shoved the thought of how my parents would react if they saw me in this state. Well, they partially caused it. I rose up to leave and ended up falling right back on my seat. I tried again, but this time around, I staggered and shattered the contents on a neighbouring table. I was causing a nuisance. They stood up and hurled curses at me, but I was too drunk to react. I was about to continue staggering my way out of the club when I felt someone pull me back roughly. I couldn’t see clearly but I knew that it was one of the guys on the table I shattered. He was obviously insulting me, but I just couldn’t hear him. I didn’t care about that. He could curse at me all he liked. Turning to leave the club, someone slapped me hard across the face and I fell. I was too weak to react. I was too weak to scream or stand up. The last thing I heard was the handsome guy’s voice. I woke up to the sun's rays piercing my eyes and instantly flung my eyes closed. I was dizzy as my head felt so heavy. I managed to open my eyes again as I looked around me. My vision was blurry. Where am i? I asked in my head. The room looked extravagant. Did my dad come to save me from the club yesterday? This looks like my dad’s room. Relaxing at the fact that I was at home, I shifted on the bed to make myself more comfortable. Closing my eyes to get back to sleep, I heard someone talk to me while entering the room. That’s not my dad's voice. “How can you sleep so comfortably at someone else’s house?” I heard and I jerked my face out of, the bed to see who was talking to me. “What?” I screamed as I saw the handsome guy at the club.
