Chapter 3: The Strange Voice
The alarm bells continued to ring.
Luna stood frozen beside the bed, staring toward the window.
Rogues were attacking the pack.
But the voice inside her head was louder than the chaos outside.
Find the old forest.
“What do you want from me?” Luna whispered.
Mia looked at her nervously.
“Who are you talking to?”
Luna opened her mouth, but before she could answer, a powerful howl shook the entire building.
Kael's eyes turned golden.
“Stay here.”
He moved toward the door.
Luna grabbed his arm.
“Wait.”
Kael turned.
“Do you know what the old forest is?”
His expression changed.
For the first time, Luna saw genuine fear in his eyes.
“You heard that?”
Luna nodded.
Kael slowly pulled his arm away.
“The old forest is forbidden.”
“Why?”
“Because no one who enters comes back the same.”
Luna frowned.
“That doesn't answer my question.”
Kael looked toward the window.
“My father once sent warriors there. None returned.”
A loud crash sounded outside.
Mia screamed.
Kael immediately opened the door.
“Stay inside!”
Then he disappeared into the darkness.
Luna and Mia heard fighting outside.
Growls.
Howls.
Shouts.
Luna's silver mark began glowing again.
She pressed her hand against it.
Suddenly, the room became strangely cold.
A woman's voice whispered inside her mind.
Luna.
She stopped breathing.
Who are you?
I am the voice of your blood.
A vision appeared.
Luna saw a magnificent woman standing before a silver throne.
She wore a crown shaped like a crescent moon.
Behind her stood hundreds of wolves.
You are not an ordinary wolf.
Luna shook her head.
“No…”
You carry the blood of the Moon Queen.
The vision disappeared.
Luna fell to her knees.
Mia rushed to her side.
“Luna!”
Before Luna could respond, something slammed against the bedroom door.
Mia stepped backward.
Another impact.
The door cracked.
Luna's heart raced.
A pair of glowing eyes appeared through the opening.
A rogue wolf.
Mia grabbed Luna's hand.
“Run!”
They rushed toward the window.
But before they could escape, the door burst open.
The rogue lunged.
Luna raised her hand instinctively.
A flash of silver light exploded through the room.
The rogue was thrown backward.
Everything became silent.
Luna stared at her hands.
Mia stared at Luna.
“What... are you?”
Luna didn't know how to answer.
Outside the window, hidden among the trees, someone watched her.
A tall man with silver eyes.
He smiled faintly.
“So the Moon Queen has finally awakened.”
Then he disappeared into the darkness.
Luna looked toward the forest.
Somewhere beyond those trees was the answer to everything.
And she knew she had to find it.
