Luna couldn't sleep through the night, she kept thinking about the strange woman or perhaps if she had entered the wrong house or even had a conversation with the wrong person. Except the fact that the woman seemed to know who she was more than herself. After packing and preparing for school, she took one last look at her oval shaped mirror hanging on the wall with a pink bold borderline that highlighted the shape. She took a closer look at herself touching the crescent moon necklace on her neck thinking about the glow, it has never glowed before she thought to herself, could it be the woman was saying the truth about her, different thoughts racing in n her head. She took a closer look at the necklace again and again this time more disorient. The necklace has a mystery behind it and she never knew, Her mom had told her grandma gave her the necklace as a present after she was born. She quoted the woman's words “The other werewolves” she said quietly. She has heard stories of the werewolves and the so called hunters, although her grandma told her the stories of Silverbrook when the werewolves were hidden for a long time until the hunters found them and hunted them down making them to flee, grandma also added how the wolves still lurked in their midst pretending to be just humans, maybe grandma knew more than what she told her, she could use more answers now that she's dead she has to find a way to the truth.
“Luna, Luna, you're running late for school honey” her mother called from the kitchen interrupting her thoughts. Luna picked up her lip balm applying extra on her lips even though she had applied seconds ago. She rushed downstairs heading towards the door when her mother asked “Aren't you going to eat breakfast” “You should eat “ she added. “I'm not hungry mom, I'm running late” Luna said before shutting the door behind her “Stay safe okay” Freda yelled from the door blowing her a kiss” “I love you” she added, “I said I love you” she said again “I love you to mom” Luna replied running towards her best friend Nadia who had just been sighted laughing and giggling urging her friend to hurry. “Hey, are you alright” Nadia said touching Luna slightly with her right shoulder “you're unusually calm” she added. “What's wrong with the necklace, you've been staring at it” she continued. “Like you've always had this necklace on, why is it so special now” Nadia giggled. Luna was not Luna at that point, the incidence of last night hasn't yet left her head, “uhmm Nadia can I ask you a question” “Sure “ Nadia replied as they got on the bus to school. They've always loved the back seat of the bus, they feel it's the safest place to chat, giggle and share boyfriends secrets. Like how they sat at the back of the bus discussing about Nolan Hale the new student in their class and how girls are all over him but they felt he has a crush on Luna since he stares at her all the time. Today was not like every other day, Nadia got on the bus heading for the back seat instead Luna chose to sit in the middle seat close to the window, Nadia notices follows suit and sat beside her. Luna rests her head on the window still holding her necklace, Nadia snapped her fingers in her face “Hey lulu what's wrong, this is not you girl. Do you even realize you're sitting in the middle seat, God I hate this seat” Nadia banged a head on the head of a sit making a noiseless thud. “Have you ever seen a werewolf, do you think they're real” Luna asked giving Nadia a faint look. Nadia bursts into laughter “what, is that what has been bothering you this whole time lulu, werewolves, oh please cut me some slack b***h, werewolves aren't real” “I still don't understand what's going on between you and that necklace, let it go” she said pulling Luna's fingers away from the necklace. “Someone broke into my room last night Nadia, she claimed to be my real mother” Luna said looking at the trees as they pass by the window in a fast pace. Nadia looked at her perplexed, she didn't know what else to say to her, maybe she had sneaked in some alcohol into her system “a woman broke into your room claiming to be your mom, so you mean your mom, the mom I know isn't your mom” Nadia said. “At least that's what she said, my necklace started glowing uncontrollably, she said it meant my mother was close, she also mentioned the others, the other werewolves” Luna said. “Wait, wait, let me get something clear” Nadia said “a woman who you haven't met before told you she's your mother and you're a werewolf “ there was silence amongst them, soon Nadia bursted into heavy laughter that made the heads in the bus turn towards their direction. “ Girl you crazy, you a werewolf, that ain't possible” Luna looked at her giving a dry laugh “ right I can't be werewolf “ “of course b***h, it's all in your head, you know I once saw my dead uncle in my room at midnight dancing to no music, I put on the light and pfft he was gone and never came back, try putting on the light girl and the ghost goes away into thin airrrrrrr” Nadia smiled patting Luna's shoulders. Luna wondered how Nadia sounded so unintelligent regarding thie isssue, she knows she's trying to make her feel better, but that's not what she needs right now. She wants to know the truth about who she really is, why was the woman just showing up few days after she turned sixteen or perhaps she was imagining too many things. Maybe she should the whole issue a rest and if the woman comes back again, she'd be reporting to the police.
