The human race have all but forgotten but the tale has been passed down in my family and it's time to pass it to you. Mankind was never alone on this planet, in a faraway land with a name long forgotten lived creatures, these were no ordinary creatures, they were the man eating kind, with different shapes and size and for a time they overlooked mankind until their ruler decided to take the human realm for his own and war began, it waged on for years, humanity was at the brink of extinction when a pivotal event occurred.” “What happened mom?” Elliot asked with curiosity in his eyes. “one of the creatures rebelled and sided with humanity and he did something that changed history, he singlehandedly defended humanity against his own race, we know not why he did this, or what made him do this but as the tale goes he split the human realm and their realms in two, forever separating mankind from their predators.” “And then? What happened to him mom?” Elliot asked again. “We do not know my dear child but wherever he is, those of humanity who remember this tale are forever grateful to him. Its was a sunny morning. Elliot, now 16 woke up, the clock was at 7:48 am. “Ahh s**t, I'm gonna be late” he yelled. He immediately got up got ready and headed downstairs and found his mom in the kitchen. “Mom! Why didn't you wake me up like you promised?” he asked. “You looked so cute so I couldn't bring myself to do it” she said teasingly.” “I made your favorites though Mac and cheese and guess what?” “Apple pie?” Elliot replied. “Help me set up the plates, it'll be done in a sec, “So tell me about this girl you talked about the other day, what was her name again?” Elizabeth asked. “Megan and there's not much to say, she's just cool I guess but she's into the supernatural like me” “I see, so you both have something in common, but tread careful there son, my gender can be really unpredictable. Here I've packed your lunch, grab a bitw before going okay.” “Alright mom” he replied. Took a few bites and started leaving. “Are you forgetting something young man?” Elizabeth asked teasingly. “I love you mom” he replied smiling. “Love you more cupcake”. He got on his bike and started pedaling to school. On the way he drove past Billy's. Mr Billy owned the supermarket. “Late as usual, you never change, do you” Mr Billy asked laughing. “Guess we'll see” Elliot replied hastily. He got to school just in the nick of time and rushed to his seat. A few seats in front of him sat Clara. “Late again as usual huh?” Malcom walked in and sat beside him. “You're one to talk” Elliot replied. Mr. Jake walked in, Mr. Jake was the math teacher. “Eyes forward everyone, let's get this show on the road.” After Mr. Jake walked out, “Seems like your crush brought another supernatural fantasy book today, when are you gonna talk to her?” Malcom teased Elliot. “I'm gonna do it right now” He answered. He walked up to her desk “Hey Clara, what you reading, Supernatural huh? I'm a big fan as well, got any recommendations?” He said loudly. “First of all, no need to scream and Secondly, if this is a joke you and your nerd friend are playing it's not funny” she replied sternly. “I really am into the supernatural” Elliot said in defense “Alright favorite book?” “Not really a, book but it's a tale my mom used to tell me, that's what sparked my interest in the supernatural” Her phone rang, “It's my mom, gotta go, we can hang out and talk more, about the supernatural of course, I could care less about anything else, Text me later, no calls.” she said after handing him her phone number and walked out the class. “You really did it, I gotta admit, you're starting to exceed expectations” Malcom teased. “Gotta go, I need to help Mrs Dalton buy groceries before I head home, see you later” Elliot rushed out. He got home that evening “I'm back mom” “Thank God you're safe, I was worried, where have you been? Why are you late??” Elizabeth seemed very worried. “What's wrong” Elliot asked shocked. “There's been an accident and I was worried and there's been missing persons reports lately” “Missing persons!!” Elliot was frightened. “The police are still investigating but something's wrong with this city, I don't want you out by 7, is that clear?” “Sure mom” But something about it felt familiar, the missing people and the nightmares he's been having all felt familiar.
