It was early morning in the city of Louisiana, Missouri. In a small apartment, black curtains drawn shut, a single bed by the side and feminine products scattered at the little vanity table painted white by the wall, A small mirror hanging in front of it. Lucy Campbell rolled her butt out of bed to shut down the usual alarm that was busy blasting her head off. After pressing the snooze button she laid back on the bed and heaved a heavy sigh. Today was her 22nd birthday and she was definitely not feeling anywhere near happy about it. It looked like she was getting real old with no college degree and 3 side jobs. "Getting old sucks" she muttered to herself as she picked up her phone to check the messages, she could see one message from her mother wishing her a happy birthday and two messages from her friends. Lia and Rachel, they're absolute angels and the only friends she had in the world too. Checking Lia messages, her friend was informing her excitedly about the new expensive club she was working at and how she would really like it if they came down there that night in order to celebrate Lucy's birthday. She proceeded to respond and texted her friend back that they would discuss it with Rachel when they meet up in the afternoon per their previous laid out plans, Lia answered back with an affirmative and Lucy dropped her phone back down on the small bedside table before she began to crawl her ass lazily out of bed to go get ready for work. Looks like even with her birthday, she had no choice but to still work, “when exactly would this have to end for real” she thought to herself as she groaned before she entered the shower of her small bathroom to clean herself and make herself presentable. Her inky black hair cascaded down her back in waves as she rubbed the shampoo over it,washing up quickly so as to reduce the water bills, she dried herself up and dressed up quickly so she won't be late for her morning shift at a food diner. Thirty minutes later had Lucy making her way into the familiar diner where she worked while calling out greetings to her close knit coworkers as they all smiled at her and each shouted out a happy birthday wish. One of her coworkers Gabriel whom she was more familiar with patted her back before he asked "how do you feel today my damsel" she laughed in response as that was the usual way he communicated with her using different pet names, he had some point had a little crush on her but she thinks he’s gone past that already or so she hoped as she replied. "I don't feel any different from yesterday" he then chuckled at her response in amusement while shaking his head and responding “that’s how we all feel baby” before getting back to work. After finishing her shift while checking the time closely so she doesn’t miss her appointment with her friends because they can be quite troublesome when they want to be, she rubbed her hands with a towel as she got ready to meet up with her friends to discuss how they were going to celebrate her birthday. She said her goodbyes to her coworkers while they all returned it and told her to have fun, she nodded and smiled before stepping out. Entering their usual eating spot, she saw them already seated at a table, they waved up at her as a large grin spread across her cheeks. She bounded up to them as they started squealing in excitement even before she reached them, they both gave her a hug while muttering happy birthdays so as not to disturb the other people at the place, she smiled and thanked them as they all sat down. "Sooooo miss birthday girl, how has your day been going?" Rachel asked. "Well as great as every other day of my life." she replied sarcastically as they all chuckled at her response. "Well,It's our job to change that tonight babe, I already told Rachel about the plan I informed you about and she already agreed to us partying there." Lia added as she rubbed her hands in glee. "Well it's no problem with me, I don't mind going out to have fun plus the place is super expensive though so I would definitely enjoy the view. I just hope we wouldn’t have any issues there you know..? " Lucy asked in contemplation as it’s been a while for her and she definitely is a little anxious about being social. “No no, Lia has reassured me she spoke to her boss there already and he’s told her it’s no big deal for her to come with her friends” Rachel said in reassurance to Lucy’s doubt. “Yes ma’am, I did all that already don’t worry your pretty head and let mummy handle this” Lia said as they all burst into giggles. “Okay mummy, we’re gonna trust you for tonight then, I can’t wait to be honest, it’s been long I’ve been in that kind of scene” Lucy admitted. "And also meet a fine man for the night righttt…." Lia said as she wiggled her eyebrows. Both her and Rachel laughed out loud as Rachel said "Lia c'mon don't tease this virgin Mary, you know she's always yapping about how much she doesn't like men." She gasped at Rachel mockingly as she said "oh please, you know very well I'm not a virgin Mary but about men tho, it's true they're too much trouble than they're worth." "Here she comes again with her talks, please Lucy when you see the men at my club, you most definitely will forget all this negative thoughts, I’m talking fine men baby girl" Lia added. "Okay miss, so where are my presents or do I have to ask for them now?" she said as she raised her eyebrows jokingly at them. "Oh my gosh, would you chill girl, we planned for it to be a surprise, but let's just show her anyways" Rachel said with a smile as she turned to Lia and nodded before turning to her bag and proceeding to dig into it. Lucy tried not to peek from where she sat but she was honestly excited, Rachel then proceeded to put a box on the table and said "open it but don't make any noise please, we already attracted attention as it is." She rolled her eyes at her as she opened the box in her hand then her jaw proceeded to drop open as she saw the matching lingerie set inside the box along with jewelry. "Girl!, you're so predictable I definitely knew that your dirty mind won't conjure something else to be honest, but it's so pretty and soft though, I love it, thank you sooo much" she said as she hugged her sideways and closed the box then turned her attention to Lia. "You're the next baby girl, where is it?" she demanded. Lia then proceeds to flash her a smile as she brings out a smaller box. She opened it carefully as she saw it was a necklace Lia got her, it looked so shiny and beautiful and moist gathered in her eyes at the sight of it. "Woah, this looks so pretty, how much did you get it? It looks damn expensive." "Don't worry about the price baby girl, it costs a lot but I wanted to make you happy" Lia said as she also beamed at her across the table. She was so lucky to have these two in her life, she wondered what she would do without them. "Alright, thank you guys so much for the amazing gifts, I loved them but I genuinely have got to go now. I have another shift at the bakery store,see you guys in my apartment at night for the preparation." They both grinned and said okay as she made her way hastily out of the eatery as she was already running a bit late.
