Abby's POV
Within minutes of meeting Ruzzle, I had decided he would be my permanent nurse. This guy was amazingly hilarious. We all found a comfy spot, and Zebrik picked a movie called Blended. About an hour in, I started to feel more relaxed. At first, I couldn’t put my finger on why—until I heard a tired voice.
"Why? Why would you drug me?"
My heart immediately warmed and sank at the same time. I looked around, but everyone was engrossed in the movie.
"Burnt, I’m sorry. I know you must feel betrayed, but before I let anyone know you’re waking up, can we talk? Just the two of us?"
Burnt let out a sleepy growl. "If this is about the mate thing, there’s nothing to talk about."
I smiled to myself. I never thought I would miss her, but this normalcy was welcome.
