Claire's pov
I swallowed hard, my mouth dry, my heart hammered against my ribs.
Emily waltzed in, her eyes blazed with fury. She crouched infront of me and roughly snatched my jaw.
"I'm going to ask you for the last time. Where is my necklace?"
She asked, her voice low but filled with rage.
Why is it so difficult for her to understand that I don't have it. Is she that thick skulled.
"I don't have it." I said, my voice shaky.
"You're lying again." She exhaled.
"Maybe I should get it out of you." She hissed giving me a backhand.
"You know I despise liars and thieves." She leaned down and yanked my hair, tugging on it.
"That necklace is important to me more important than your worthless ass.
it belonged to my mother and I want it!"
"I-I don't have it.....I swear."
"Again you're lying." She growled kicking me hard in the ribs with enough force to send me crashing into the wall behind me.
"P-please." I begged but my words were choked off when she delivered another vicious kick to my stomach, making me curl in on myself, caughing violently.
I was trembling all over, blood bubbling from my nose with every wheezing breath.
"Pl-please st-stop it hu-hurts."
i coughed out, the metallic taste of blood coated my tongue. A piercing pain shot through me at even the slight movement.
Emily hummed, tilting her head to the left. The tip of her boot touching my face.
"I did a good job reconstructing your hideous face." She grinned.
"As much as I'd love to end your pathetic life, father won't be too happy if I killed you."
My body curled into a ball as Emily delivered on last kick to my face before she hurried out of the cell, leaving me here to bleed to death. My limbs felt heavy, the pain was unbearable, it hurt everywhere.
I blinked, seeing a tall figure advancing toward me, my vision was blurry so I couldn't really make out the person's face.
Panic flared in my chest when I saw the person kneeling infront of me.
Who was this person? Is it Emma? Did she come to finish what Emily had started or is it one of the guards?.
"No-please...." I cried.
I didn't get to finish what I wanted to say
Before darkness consumed my vision. I felt myself being lifted, the sweet scent getting closer and closer.

I groaned trying to move my body but I couldn't. My eyes fluttered open and I scanned my surroundings. It was dark in here and it smelt like pine and damp earth.
Where was I? I wondered.
Slowly I tried to get up, a small whimper left me as I sat up and inspected the room.
I was no longer in the cell but in a room.
I reached for the lamp and turned it on. The room flooded with light chasing away the darkness.
My gaze wandered around the room and then suddenly a small yelp left my lips.
Across the room Cole was seated on a chair, watching me.
"What.... What am I doing here?" I murmured.
He exhaled, rising from the chair and approached me.
"Do you remember what happened last night?"
I swallowed nodding. "Yes, I remember."
I remember the way Emily beat me until I fell unconscious.
"You were bleeding and was unconscious so I brought you to my room and got the healer to check your wounds," he said his voice low.
I blinked. Why would he want to help me? Everyone around here hates me so why did he help me?
I stiffened when he placed his palm on my forehead.
"What are you doing?"
"Checking if your fevers gone down. You were burning up last night."
"Why are you doing this?" I asked meeting his gaze.
"Because I want too," he replied stepping away.
"You're free to go if you want to," he said.
I pushed the blankets off me and stood on my feet but as I took a step forward my head started to spin a little.
Cole was at my side in an instant and the moment he gripped my arm a jolt shot up my arm, sharp and undeniable, like lightning under my skin.
"Mate!" my wolf lyra growled in my head.
My heart pounded.
This is impossible! Cole was my mate? The moon goddess really did like me a lot to pair me up with Cole. Now I understand why I was attracted to him.
"You're.... You're my mate," I whispered gazing into his eyes.
"Yes," he murmured, his gaze unwavering.
My chest tightened as I looked away. "Are you going to reject me?"
"No I won't," he said roughly.
Relief washed over me. I exhaled slowly as I sat on the bed.
"But you can't tell anyone about this," he said his voice firm but low.
"Not until I think of a way how to get us out of here."
I stared at him with wide eyes.
"You want to leave this pack?"
"Yes," he murmured, moving toward the door. "You can stay in here and rest, I'll be back with some food," he said and shut the door softly behind him.

I exhaled and leaned against the window watching the moon. It hangs in the night sky like a silent sentinel, luminous and unwavering, casting a soft, silvery glow across everything it touches.
Cole is my mate and he accepted me that's what I keep reminding myself. I always thought when I find my mate he'd reject me so that's why I didn't bother too much about finding my mate.
I can't thank the moon goddess enough for giving me Cole as my mate, he's so sweet and gentle. I wonder what Michael would do if he finds out Cole's my mate.
I froze when I hear the doorknob turning. Assuming it's one of the Omega's that's coming in to clean up the room or maybe it's Emily.
But when the door opened and Cole steps into view relief hits me. He enters with a tray of food in his hand. The scent of roasted meat and fresh bread filled the air, making my stomach growl.
"I'm sorry for making you wait so long. I got caught up," he said, his voice a low murmur. "I had a few errands to run."
"It's fine," I replied.
"Come," he said softly, placing the tray on the table. "You need to eat."
I felt a warmth spread through me not from the food but from the simple and exhilarating news that Cole's my mate.
"How are you feeling?" he asked.
"I feel much better thank you for helping me."
"You don't have to thank me Claire," he said. "You're my mate there's nothing I wouldn't do for you."
I smiled through the tears forming in my eyes weren't from pain but from happiness.
