Chapter Three

Claire's pov The smell of bleach wafted aggressively into my nose. I sighed, wiping the sweat dripping from my brows. I was put on duty to clean the cells and I've been at it all morning. I hate being in here it reminded me of the times Mason had brought me in here and tortured me until I fell unconscious. The sound of heavy footsteps echoing in the walkways pulled me away from my thoughts. I quickly stood up and moved to the last cell. The heavy stench of blood filled my nostrils and the sight of it on the floor made me feel queasy. I took in a deep breath and opened the cell gate, trying hard to ignore the blood on the floor. "Where's the rogue, the one we cought roaming on our borders last night?" Cole's husky voice rang in the air making my heart race. Cole's, the future beta and also Mason's best friend. When I was little I had a huge crush on Cole. I guess it's because he's the only one in the entire pack that hadn't mistreated me in anyway. He's definitely attractive. I noticed how much he tried to avoid being anywhere near me which was strange. I threw the bucket of water on the floor and took the scrubbing brush and began scrubbing off the blood. I sighed. This is going to be a long day. I thought as I scrubbed harder. Stepping out of the cell to retrieve more water. I halted in my tracks when Cole walked toward me, our gazes lock and for a minute I was lost in those sea green eyes. "What are you standing there and gaping at Omega?" Matthew, the guard snarled and I flinched at his tone. "Get to work!" He ordered and I quickly moved my feet, feeling embarrassed that I just got reprimanded infront of Cole. A few hours later "This is ridiculous." I muttered to myself. Emma's such a pig. Why did she have to drop wine all over the bed and now I'll have to scrub these stains off from the sheet until its white again. My fingers already hurt from scrubbing the cell floors and now I have to scrub these stains off. Tossing the dirty sheets into the laundry basket, I put on new sheets and make the bed. When I'm done I go to the next Room. I exhaled, wiping the sweat off my forehead as I walked down the stairs, dragging the laundry basket along with me. I feel exhausted, my body is sore. I just want to have a little rest but I can't. I still have to help Kim prepare dinner. As I stride down the stairs lost in my thoughts a loud crashing sound coming from one of the bedrooms had me halting in my steps. "Claire!" Emily bellowed, standing at the top of the stairs with her fist clenched at her sides and her eyes flashed fire and her lips thinned into a tight line. What have I done wrong now? I wondered as a bolt of panic hit me. "Where is my necklace?". She demanded, scowling at me. I stared at her puzzled. What was she talking about? "I don't know." I answered, my voice shaky. "Don't lie to me omega". She sneered as she rushed toward me. My heart began pounding as she stood in front of me. She had this deadly glint swirling in her eyes. "I'm not lying. I don't have your necklace." I said. Thud. She striked me across the face. I winced as I touched my cheek. "Where is my necklace?" She demanded once again. "You're the last person that was in my room so tell me where is it? And don't you dare lie to me. She yelled, pointing her finger in my face. Because I know you have it." I swallowed the lump in my throat. "I swear I have no idea nor did I see it in your room." I croaked, holding onto my sore cheek. She suddenly yanked me by my hair dragging me down the stairs along with her. Where is she taking me too? I wondered "I'm going to teach you a lesson not to be a thief". She growled at me, dragging me in the direction of the cells. Fresh terror reared up within me. "No, I can't go in there." I cried out. "Please don't put me in there." I sobbed, prying her fingers off my wrists. "What the f**k are you all standing there and looking at?" She snapped at the guards. "Get this b***h inside!" The one guard yanked me by the hair and shoved me inside the cell. I stumbled and my head met with the wall, I felt something wet dripped down from my forehead. I touched it and stared at my hand. Blood, I was bleeding. My head started to spin and I felt weak soon after black spots danced before my eyes. I fell clumsily on the cold floor, and my eyes slowly shut on their own accord. I woke up to the pungent smell of blood, invading my nostrils. I slowly opened my eyes, glancing around me I notice the cells were unusually quite except for my heavy breathing. There weren't any guards on sight. Getting up, the pain jolted throughout my body. I tried to ignore the pain as much as I could and get up and when I did my eyes widened. I was covered in blood. My hand instinctively flew to my forehead and I let out a hiss. The scent of blood-my blood clung to the damp air, mixing with the cold, metallic tang of the dungeon. Peering at my hand there wasn't any blood. Thank God the bleeding had stopped. "Is she awake?" A terrifyingly voice spoke. It made me seize up in fear. Emily appeared infront of my cell, smiling sadistically at me. "You're up that's good. Now I can get the truth out of you." She spat out, sending me a murderous glare.
