"Your voice is truly beautiful, Maria," Danica said, smiling as she took a bite of her food.
"Easy there, you might choke, Miss Danica," Francisco warned, holding Danica's hand.
"You've been saying that, Mr. Fran," Danica replied, taking another bite and almost choking, prompting Francisco to hand her water.
"I told you to be careful, Miss Danica," Francisco lectured. I could only smile.
"That's a perfect relationship, right, Maria?" Austin, the guy beside me, commented.
"True, Austin," I said, taking a bite of my food, enjoying the sweetness of the lovebirds next to me.
"Do you have food, Maria?" Austin asked, pointing to his cheek. I mimicked the gesture, but I didn't get any food.
He approached, reaching for the side of my cheek. We locked eyes, time seemed to slow down, and then someone coughed. It was Venezio, what an attention seeker.
"May I join you, ladies and gentlemen?" Venezio asked, looking at the four of us.
"Sure, sir," Danica said to Venezio, and he sat between Austin and me. Austin moved to a nearby seat.
"There are plenty of chairs, Mr. Venezio," I said softly so that only the three could hear.
"Not Venezio, Miss Maria, we're not close enough for you to call me Venezio; it's Simon for you," he replied, equally soft. We started eating, and I wished to kick him, but I refrained; I'd save that for his father's birthday.
"I'm done here. Can I leave, Miss Danica?" I said, standing up.
"Maria, you've been here all along; I've been looking for you. Let's go; your father is looking for us," my mother said, looking at the four seated.
"Excuse us, gentlemen and ladies; I'll just take my daughter," my mother said, holding my hand.
"Okay, Auntie, take care on the way," Danica said, standing up. Francisco and Austin also stood, but my seatmate acted like nothing was happening.
"I'm leaving, Miss Danica; take care," I said.
"Take care, Miss Maria," Austin said, taking my hand and kissing it.
"Take care, Miss Maria, blah blah," Venezio whispered, shaking his head slightly.
"Kiss Maria," Mom said softly, and we walked towards the carriage.
"How are you here?" I asked Sinang, who had been staring into the distance since earlier.
"I'm fine here, Maria," Sinang said and faced me.
"Come with me, Maria; you'll be happier where we're going," Sinang said, holding me.
"This is the endless river," Sinang said, looking at the river. There were many roses and the river was clear and clean. I was surprised when someone emerged from the sea. Venezio was here, along with Danica, Francisco, and Austin. They were swimming.
"Sinang, are you here? Wait, is that Maria?" Danica shouted from afar, looking at us. They approached, dripping wet, and joined us.
"Wow, Maria, it's you; let's swim together," Danica said, holding my hand along with Sinang.
"Miss Danica, please be careful, I'm worried about you," Francisco said, following us.
"Is there any food here, Sinang? Just coffee for me," Sinang said, looking at Austin and Venezio who were walking towards us shirtless.
"Miss Sinang, you have food here; it's just bread. Coffee, please," Sinang said, pointing the bottle towards Austin, and we all sat by the seashore.
"Miss Sinang, in or out?" Austin asked, pointing the bottle at him. We were all seated by the shore.
"Out," Sinang answered while pointing the bottle at Austin. What's on his mind?
"Will you embrace the most beautiful lady you see here?" Sinang said to Austin, looking excited. He started to inch closer to me. Being next to him, he paused and started to walk again. Suddenly, Venezio coughed; what an attention-seeker!
"May I sit here, ladies and gentlemen?" Venezio asked, looking at the four of us.
