"Why are you laughing, Arzhel?" I shouted at him, making him laugh again.
"You're such a beautiful lady; don't be mad at me. I'm just laughing because you're so beautiful, even when you're angry, hahaha," he said, taking a bite of a mango.
"Tsk, do whatever you want there!" I shouted and jumped. He slowly descended from the mango tree and approached me.
"Miss, you're really different from other girls," he said with a smile. I turned away and ran towards Sinang's house. Luckily, he let me go.
"Oh, Maria, why are you so out of breath? Where are you coming from?" Sinang asked in surprise.
"Can I have some water, Sin?" I asked. I sat down at the base of the mango tree. Sinang just nodded, even though she seemed confused. She got some water and approached me with a glass as we heard a voice from a distance.
"It's true that Sinang is here. Some say she's with a lady," a familiar voice said. I felt like I knew this voice.
"Oh, cousin, sit next to Maria first, and I'll get something to drink because you seem tired," Sinang politely said. I still hadn't looked to see who it was. Sinang handed me the glass of water. Smiling, she looked at me as she approached, holding a glass of water. We heard footsteps getting closer, accompanied by a voice.
"The world is so small, isn't it?" the familiar voice said behind me. I heard the steps approaching, and the person sat down. I turned to see who it was.
"You!" I exclaimed. He chuckled softly. It was Arzhel.
"No, Miss Maria, I'm not a wandering suitor," Arzhel said.
"Do you two know each other, Maria?" Sinang asked, amazement evident on her face.
"No," and "yes," we both answered simultaneously, exchanging glances.
"Hahaha, come on, let's eat," Sinang's mother, Merlita, joyfully said. We followed her and sat on wooden chairs.
"How was your stroll, Maria?" Merlita, Sinang's mother, asked with a smile.
"The surroundings are beautiful, and there are so many Hibiscus and Jasmine flowers. It's really lovely, Aunt Merlita," I happily replied.
"So, that's why you want a vacation, Miss." Venezio said coolly while gazing at the scenery.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" I replied, picking Jasmine flowers.
"Oh, come on, it's like I want to punch you," Arzhel muttered behind me.
"It's better if you admire someone else because Miss Maria has found her true love in her dreams," Venezio whispered.
"Hey, I heard that, Miss Maria!" Arzhel said, looking at me. I just laughed at his reaction.
"And I'm sure it's not you." Venezio said coldly, then left. He's really abnormal.
"Who is he? He's so brave to say that to me," Venezio wondered aloud.
"Ugh, I'll leave you behind." I said dismissively and walked away from him.
"Wait, Miss!" he shouted. I ran towards Sinang's house, and from a distance, I saw a girl wearing ordinary clothes. I approached her, and oh my gosh, she's so beautiful. She wore a dress with lace and even had a fan. It looks like someone similar to me has visited here. Thank you, thank you! I also saw Venezio approaching.
"Venezio, take her to Sinang's house; she seems to need help," I shouted to him, and he quickly carried the girl towards Sinang's house. I followed Venezio towards Sinang, who was now puzzled in front of me.
"She's my friend, Sinang. I saw her lying under a tree in the rice field, covered in blood." I explained while looking at the girl lying down.
"No wonder she's so beautiful, and she can also pass as a man because she has some masculinity!" Sinang commented while examining the girl. I couldn't blame her because what she said was true. Suddenly, the girl woke up with her eyes closed, surprising both of us.
