Within minutes of talking with Findlay, a call came to Homicide from the Department of Public Safety lab in Phoenix. The head of the lab called Josie to tell her that they got DNA results from the glue side of the envelope flap. Josie ran to her office when she learned the call was coming in. Ed Burgoz told her the DNA results were complete, they indicated a white male. He said, “The results are in the State of Arizona database for a determination if the same characteristics had ever been placed onto the Arizona Criminal Justice Information System. Josie was ecstatic, hung up after a torrent of thanks got sent to the people in the lab. She spread the word among the office and then called Jeff Wineberg.
