Bella POV
The guards came with leather whips and started whipping me.
I could feel every part of my back be torn with every whip that landed.
I screamed, cried but it was all in vain.
I was probably whipped until I lost consciousness.
That became my life over the few weeks.
Hunter never came to see me again in the dungeons where I was imprisoned.
The guards would come and whip me daily. Being restricted with silver chains made healing slow.
I couldn't shift to my wolf either.
Everyday, I would get a single meal, bread and water before the whipping sections commenced.
Hunter promised me hell, and hell was what I was experiencing.
I grew weak from all the whipping and poor diet.
Since I wasn't allowed to shift, my wounds piled up.
At times I thought of killing myself but stopped . Suicide was for the weak.
I wasn't weak.
I was strong and refused to break. It didn't matter what they threw me, I would stand firm and prove to them that no amount of torture was enough to break me.
My wolf retreated to the darkest parts of my mind
No matter how much I called out for her, she never resurfaced.
It made me wonder if she was avoiding me or in too much pain.
I stopped keeping tabs of time and the days I stayed locked up in the dungeons.
Probably it was days, or even a few weeks or probably a month, I didn't care anymore.
I had come to accept that this was going to be my home. Perhaps until my death.
The pain of getting whipped daily and being fed wolfsbane finally broke me like Hunter wanted.
My Wolf finally abandoned me, but abandoning would be a cruel word to use.
Unable to take the pain of rejection and the inhumane torture, she finally retreated to the back of my mind.
I could not feel her anymore.
After some weeks, whipping wasn't the only thing they did to me.
The guards started forcing themselves on me. It was endless torture.
I know Hunter could feel it, feel that someone was having their way with me or perhaps he thought that I allowed it. Honestly at this point, I didn't care anymore what others thought about me.
The only thing I could do was close my eyes and cry myself to sleep every night after torture.
I laid on the cold stone floor which seemed to have received a command of staying wet always since every time it rained, the water made it's way insíde through the cracks.
My wrists throbbed where the silver chains had eaten into my skin.
The sound of approaching footsteps echoed through the dungeon.
I didn't move. Not like I had any strength to pull that off.
The sound of the heavy metal rustling announced the arrival of whoever decided to visit.
I cracked my eyes open and came face to face with a smirking Vivian.
The cell door opened.
She stood in the doorway looking like she had stepped out of a painting. She looked nothing like the scared and pale faced woman Hunter carried out of the hall covered in blood.
Vivian stared down at me the way someone looks at something they found at the bottom of a drain.
"Oh Bella. I almost did not recognize you." She said softly, stepping inside. Her heels clicked against the stone floor as she approached.
I didn't say anything. What was I supposed to say? Thank her for this magnificent transformation?
She crouched down until we were eye level.
"You look terrible." She said, a look of pity in her eyes.
“ Are you here to gloat? Because if you are, then you are wasting your time.” I said through gritted teeth.
“ Tsk! You still have your bad temper, Bella. When will you ever learn? That little temper of yours can't save your ass.
If you beg me, I can let you live for a few more days." Vivian giggled.
Something about her words rubbed me the wrong way.
Let me live for a few more days?
What was that supposed to mean?
But, I ignored it and spat on her face.
“ f**k you Vivian!”
If she came here to see me break, she was going to get really disappointed.
Vivian momentarily closed her eyes and when she opened them, I almost flinched from the murderous look on her face.
Without warning, she backhanded me, the sound of her slap echoing in the dungeon.
The impact of the slap had my head tilting sideways and the metallic taste of blood floored my mouth.
“ How dare you disrespect your Luna?” She snarled and despite the pain radiating through me, I let out a mocking laughter.
“Luna? The title you got after stealing my mate?” I scoffed.
If she didn't sleep with Hunter behind my back and get pregnant, how could she end up being the Luna of the pack?
She used despicable ways to get there and she dares flaunt it before me?
Instead of getting angry, Vivian actually laughed.
“ You are right. I stole your mate so what? You never deserved him anyway.” She spat.
“ You are nothing but a pathetic omega, how could you dream of snatching what I have always wanted?” Vivian mocked.
“ What you always wanted?” I repeated, brows furrowed in confusion.
“ Of course stupidly!
Did you buy that pathetic explanation that me sharing a bed with Hunter was a mistake?” She chuckled.
“ I planned everything. From getting close to you and pretending to be your friend.
I almost didn't succeed until you gave me that perfume. With your scent on me, all I had to do was drug Hunter and get to his bed.
With the scent of his stupid mate, how could he resist me?” Vivian laughed.
The more she explained, the more angrier and disgusted I felt.
“ You used me, pretended to be my friend to get close to Hunter?”
I asked in disbelief.
“ You are only figuring that out now?
Otherwise why would I need to get close to a lowlife like you? Are you even worthy?” Vivian sneered.
My heart clenched painfully. She never saw me as a friend, only a way to access Hunter and trap him.
“ I have to say, your mother wasn't as stupid as you are.”
“ What do you mean?” I asked as fear gripped my heart.
Vivian laughed, throwing her head back dramatically.
“ Your mother somehow figured out my plans to steal Hunter from you. She threatened to let you know. Luckily, I acted fast before she could ruin things for me.” Vivian revealed.
“ Vivian, what did you do to my mother?” My voice trembled as I asked.
“ I killed her of course.” She revealed, a sick smile painting her lips.
“ She tried to inform you and I couldn't let her waste my efforts so I killed her and made it look like she took her life.” Bile crawled up my guts and I gagged, tears streaming down my cheeks.
Vivian killed my mother. She murdered my mother in cold blood and made it look like an accident.
It's no wonder my mother tried warning me to stay away from Vivian. She must have figured out her plans.
My mother even tried to mindlink me the night of her death.
“ I am going to kill you!” I shouted, lurching at Vivian but two guards appeared from nowhere, restricting me.
“ Kill me? You are in no position to make threats Bella, much more carry them out.” Vivian scoffed.
“ Don't you get it? You are in my mercy. No one cares whether you die or live. Your precious mom would have cared but she is dead.
Hunter hates you with passion.
You are all by yourself.” She continued to rub salt on my wounds.
I glared at her and hated it that she was right.
No one in this pack gave a f**k whether I lived or died.
If anything, they might rejoice at my death.
“ You are crazy.” I whispered, defeated.
Vivian burst out laughing.
“ Indeed, I am crazy but do you know who drove me to craziness?” She asked, a sadistic smile on her face.
“ It's you,Bella. You are the reason I became who I am.” Vivian declared shamelessly.
“ If you didn't get mated to Hunter, I would never have resulted in framing you or using my child's life to secure my position as Hunter’s mate.”
Listening to her twisted confession, I could not help but feel pity for Hunter.
So, this is the woman he casted me aside and tortured me for?
But then again, they are both crazy, a match made in heaven.
“ Aren't you afraid I'll tell Hunter about your conspiracy?” I asked and Vivian scoffed.
“ You can try and see if he will believe you, the jealous freak or the mother of his dead child.”
