Bad news

1130 Words
Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing… Was that not how the saying went? Try all she could but she couldn't get this particular wolf off her mind no matter how she tried to. He felt like a part of her now, whether memories or a script from reality. He was a part of her never to let go as she saw him now in flashbacks. That kiss, that one kiss that has sent her nerves racing down to every part of her that beat with a pulse. Her weary fingers reached to touch her lips where his had been, she could still feel everything— His scent, the taste of his lips, his eyes piercing deeply into her — She heaved deeply as she pulled her hood comfortably over her head taking glances in either directions as she strolled the empty woods back home. As she made her way back to the castle, all she thought about was Zayn Ryder and if she would ever see him again. Something about everything looked suspiciously wrong but It did look as though Zayn didn't need to put on a sheep fleece to rob Aerona of her heart and soul, he did it without being secretive—As a thief would in broad daylight. She was naive about all this, for her it was her first time loving a man this much, she didn't know why or how it happened but it appeared as though she was thinking with another entirely different organ other than her brain. In a way, not only was she not only defying the force of nature that had been between Werewolves and supernaturals, but she was also breaking the laws of her mother as well. There was only one way all these would end, and as she made her way to the castle she thought of a way to evade anyone ever suspecting her. She looked over her shoulders as she went, the cold whistling past her ear as she felt chill even with the cloak she was putting on. Ahead, she could see the sun already shimmering its way out of the sky though still mild. Was it wise to sneak them past the secret door? She pondered. Not only had she broken them out to evade the guard that was coming their way with a burning torch she had sneaked them through a door only a few witches knew about. It was through this same door she sneaked back to the castle, already the maid was in the kitchen getting the meal ready for the day and she could smell freshly cooked bacon in the air. Her mouth watered but she knew how costly it would have of her to walk into the kitchen that time of the morning. She needed a form of distraction however as she needed to get past the kitchen doors without being seen. Creating an aura around her to protect her spell, she sent a soft wind through the kitchen watching as silverware fell to the ground as she made her way past. Lights flipped on from different rooms in the castle as a dog barked from a distance, it was not until then that she realized she had been silly using that form of distraction. She swallowed the lump in her throat as she walked quickly to her room, knowing fully well that half of the castle was awake now because of her mistake, including her mother who would most probably be on the way to her room at that moment to check if she was alright. The awareness that this throb in her heart would be worse than it was beating if she was caught out overwhelmed her, and not knowing what else to do she made a little shuttle run. Soon she was behind the safety of her doors, breathing heavily with her back against it, Peering out to be sure no one saw her as the lights flipped back till all she saw was the darkness of that early afterglow. That was close… She thought as she crawled under the duvet and pretended to be asleep. With the dog still barking from a distance, with her heart still pounding within her chest, her eyes fluttered close finally. ********************* It was reflective, the light rays shimmering through the window of her room as she stirred before opening her eyes, she could hear a soft knock on the door as she pulled herself off her bed. "I am on my way." She said amidst drowsiness as she wobbled toward the door. She found the maid who had been knocking persistently, a girl barely reaching her shoulders. "Your mother asked that you come down for breakfast." The maid said not without looking into her eyes and sounding all shy. "Tell her I will be down soon." Aerona muttered. As the maid turned to leave, she noticed it was her first time seeing her around. "You are new right?" She asked the shy maid who nodded slowly. "Do well to enjoy your stay." She said to the maid to bow slightly before heading out. As she watched the maid walk away, she concluded in her mind that she liked her and She would definitely make her one of her personal maids. It took awhile but soon she was on her way down to the dinning hall that had her mother seated. "Right in time." Celeste said with a bit of sarcasm. Aerona rolled her eyes, she knew fully well that it would come down to this. Her mother clearly hated being kept waiting. "I didn't take that long." She replied. "Twenty-five minutes is a long time to get ready for breakfast." Her mother said before pushing a slice of bacon into her mouth. " Well I slept in late." Aerona muttered before picking up the napkin at her side of the table and setting it on her laps. "Really?..." "So tell me, what were you up to doing all night?" Her heart raced at that bit of question as she thought of what she had done and every atrocity committed the previous night. Only if mother knew, I wouldn't be her having this conversation. Aerona thought to herself. It was timely as the door sounded in the opposite direction as both women turned their heads Iona walked in with three warlocks not looking the best version of themselves. Celeste's face bore a look of surprise on her face, while she looked at her daughter's inexpressive own. "Why do you all look so gloomy?" Celeste asked. "I've got bad news." Iona said, walking closer to the table. "Bad news?" Celeste answered while wiping her hands with a towel. "The prisoner's escaped, and we feel someone helped them out." The room fell silent…
