Chapter 5: Knight Chase

Chase POV

Parating pa lang kami ay kita na namin ang pagdami at pagkakagulo ng mga estudyante sa parking lot ng campus. Most of them are girls. They're already familiar with cars, even if we use a van the same scenario always happens everytime we came.

"Ang gwapo mo talaga Knight Vash."

"Tingnan n'yo ang ngiti ni Knight Shawn nakaka-inlove, mukhang totoo yung ngiti niya. OMG!"

"Kyaaaahhhh! Si Knight Chase nandito na, pumasok na siya."

I was in LA when the classes started to attend some important family matters. Today will be considered my first day.

"Ang hot at ang gwapo niya talaga, tingnan niyo."

Sanay na kami na laging ganito ang eksena sa tuwing darating kami o kahit saang bahagi kami ng campus. We just ignore them fawning on us. As long as they won't approach us, it's fine. Well, despite quite the stir we receive from them, they're afraid to come near us.

We walk straight towards the Dark Knights Lounge since it's still a little bit early. I am in front of the group walking with a straight look in my face. I am known as a snob since I seldom smile. All students that are blocking our way step aside to make a way for us. They always treated us like royalties that are walking in the center of their people.

Except for the student councils, no one has guts to go against us. Today might be different though. There might be someone who doesn't care about us at all. A girl is walking without minding her surrounding and the students eyeing her. I can't see her face since she's looking down while busy talking with someone in her phone.

I'm not sure if my friends who's busy talking among themselves, except for Vash, notice her. Hinayaan ko lang ang babae kung mapansin niya ba kami. I'm in the mood and I feel like pulling a prank. Tulad ng mga kaibigan ko ay mahilig din ako sa kalokohan at mukhang ang babaeng ito ang magiging biktima.

She's near and since I'm in the front, she will surely bump me. I don't have any plan to avoid her. I'm heard her last word before I feel her body collide with mine. Seems like she's talking with her Dad. My reflexes are fast enough to hold her in the waist to stop her from falling. Her sweet scents engulf me that almost put me in daze, erasing the thought of the prank I was about to do.

She looks at her phone that is now broken before slowly look at me with a knotted forehead. Shock is an understatement of what I feel when I saw her face. No one informed me that she's back already. I know I look like an idiot staring at her intently without saying anything. I wasn't able to hide the surprise look in my face. It's been what? Two years? Since I last saw her?

I silently curse and scolded myself. Tumikhim ako at hinamig ang making sarili. Binalingan ko ng tingin ang kaibigan ko na tahimik na ngayong nakatingin sa amin. Ash grinned at me and look down at my hands in Shandra's waist. I almost growl but end up groaning instead before slowly letting her go.

While my whole being is in turmoil seeing her again. She doesn't have any reaction at all. It seems that she doesn't mind being in my arms, almost being embrace by me, Knight Chase. If it's any other girl, it might have fainted already. She's Shandra after all, she's different from any other girls.

Nagpalipat-lipat ang tingin niya sa amin bago ito tumgil kay Grey. Inilahad niya ang kamay dito at nagsalita, "phone mo? Akin na, bilis."

"Cellphone ko? Bakit?" Nagtatakang tanong ni Grey na naguguluhan pa, nagulat ata sa nangyari. Pero binigay din niya ang hinihingi nito.

Kinuha ito ni Shandra at tumalikod na. "Balik ko mamaya," sabi ni Shandra habang nagsimula ng maglakad paalis.

"Teka, phone ko! Shan!" Late reaction ni Grey, nakalayo na si Shandra saka pa lang sa nakapag-react sa bilis ng pangyayari.

Nang tuluyan ng makalayo si Shandra, nagsimula na din ako maglakad uli patungo ng DK Lounge. Pagdating ay agad akong dumiretso sa ref na nandoon para kumuha ng maiinom. Inisang lagok ko lang ang inumin na nakuha ko saka binalingan ang mga kaibigan ko na nagkanya-kanya ng hanap ng mauupuan.

Mataman ko silang tiningnan saka nagsalita, "No one told me that she's here. When did she come back?" i asked no one in particular.

Josh raised his hand, "we just saw her on the first day of class." He shook his head when I was about to say something and immidiately continued, "Nope, Yana is not aware that she's coming back."

I look at Grey, "you're cousins, you surely know something."

"Chill Chase! Same with Josh, I also know on the first day of class. She didn't tell anyone about coming back. I was even surprise seeing her in the room that day," Grey explained.

"I don't it think it matters, Bro." Napatingin ako kay Xanthel na siyang nagsalita. I was about to retort when he raise his hand to stop me. "What matters is Zander. He's also back along with Shandra."

"What the f---" I stopped myself from cursing when I heard them stifle a laugh. "What's funny?" I asked in annoyance.

"You!" Ash answered, " we just find it funny how your mood immediately changes just the mention of Zander."

"Oo nga pala bro, nandito din yung Zander kasama ni Shandra sa pagbalik." - Ashton

"Seems like you still don't have a chance, bro," Vash shook his head but a teasing smile is plastered in his lips.

"What's the plan Chase? We're ready to help, you know," Josh shrugged his shoulder.

"You won't be able to go near Shandra with Zander around, bro, that's why you need all the help you can get," Xanthel said trying to convince me.

"Bakit ba inuunahan niyo ako? I haven't said anything yet," reklamo ko sa kanila.

"We're trying to help to make you happy, Chase. Masama ba yun?" nagtatampo kunwari na sabi ni Ash.

"Ash is right, Chase," dagdag ni Grey, "we know you're in love with my cousin."

I didn't denied what Grey said, because his right. I'm in love with her cousin. I've been in love with her the moment I saw her smile. A smile that was never meant to me but I feel like my world brightened up. Cliche, right? It's true though. I didn't even noticed that I was holding my breath that time. My heart beat faster like I was in a race, because of nervousness. It was the first time that I feel that way.

Who won't fall for her? She's simple yet adorable in her own mischievous way. She's brave and never back down once she think she's right.

I know that there are rumors about me being in love with SF but it's just a rumor. It isn't true at all. I just feel indebted to her that's why I'm searching for her. She saved someone important to me and I owed her that.

Shandra is another thing. No one knows about my feelings for her except for my friends. I wasn't able to confess because I lost a chance back then.

"We have to know first the relationship of Shandra and Zander before we think of a plan. Chase lost a chance before. We can't let that happen this time," Vash said while nodding his head. He maybe silent most of the time but when they take things seriously he's reliable.

They look so serious planning out what to do for something they shouldn't mind at all. It's my life, I should be the one doing something. And they're talking about it as if I'm not in front of them.

"That's easy Vash. We have Grey who has an easy access to Shandra's life and Josh who is the twin of Shandra's best friend." wika ni X na tinapik pa sa balikat sina Grey at Josh.

"Wala tayong gagawin?" Disappointed na tanong ni Ash kay X. "Boring yun bro, walang thrill at excitement, tsk!"

"This is not about you, Ash," saway ni X dito, "leave your thrill and excitement for time, okay?"

Nakangusong tumango si Ash sa sinabi ni X. Napa-iling na ako sa kanila. I'm thankful that they are my friends but sometimes I wonder how come I have friends like them. The best thing to do for now is to let them. No one can stop them if they are so serious in interfering with my life.
