New day

Kaden’s Pov I woke still at my desk. I had fallen asleep while going through all the case files from Amy’s murder.  I found a name that stuck out to me and I needed to talk to this man again. He is the Alpha of the white moon pack located just south of our territory He was at the Alpha meeting!  When she died, we had questioned all the surrounding packs, but he never came in to talk. He never hid that he wasn’t interested in helping us find her killer. I can’t shake the feeling that there is more to his story. I sat there thinking, trying to remember everything about this man. I go to my room to shower confident that I have a new lead in the case and I am one step closer to finding Lexi. If I can solve the murder then I can find the bastard who has Lexi. I gather all the files and head to the living room where my sleeping sister was sprawled out on my couch. Hey sis, get up I yell. “Why do you yell so early?”  Because I think we have a new lead, get up and get dressed. We have work to do. “What kind of lead?” shower, Ill fix breakfast and we will talk about it while we eat.  “Fine, at least you look like you’re in a better mood.” I finish breakfast complete with eggs, bacon, toast and Juice. Elaina sits at the bar facing me while she picks up a piece of bacon. So what’s got you in such a good mood? Elaina says. “Do you remember a man that’s was dancing with Amy at the bar that night?” I remember him.  They were just Dancing Kaden. She left with me, not him. She rode home with me. “I know Elaina, but could you identify him if I showed you a picture of him?” Yeah.  I show her a picture of Gunner, the White moon Alpha. Yeah, that’s him. So he is the Alpha of that pack now? “Yeah his dad pasted away last year and he became the Alpha. When we were questioning the surrounding packs he didn’t come in to talk. When I called him out on it, he stated that he had been sick and couldn’t make the trip. He offered to so an interview over the phone and that was it. I wonder if he would come in now and let us re interview him being that he sure as hell didn’t say he had spent the night dancing with our victim.” I didn’t think it was important to Kaden because he left the bar before us and she rode home with me and even went inside as I did that night. It doesn’t make any since that the guy she danced with is her killer. “Maybe not, but I have to question him all the same. “I will call his office and set up a meeting. “Thanks Elaina and don’t except no for an answer.” I won’t. Gunner’s  pov. The phone continues to ring, so I finally give in and answer the unknown number calling me over and over. What is it, I say into the phone as I hit the accept button. This is Elaina Lance, How are you today. “Elaina Lance, hum”, yes, sir. My brother Kaden would like to set up a meeting to discuss something with you. “I have nothing of importance to discuss with your brother; Elaina, was it”? Elaina Lance sir, he is still investigating the murder of Amy Dickerson and we had a note to follow up with you due to an illness. “Ah yes, I remember now, he called a while ago about that. I figured he has closed the case by now.” Unfortunately not; Sir. When can I put you down for an appointment? “Just let Kaden know he can swing by my office this evening if he has time. I am going out-of-town tomorrow though and I won’t be back for some time”.  Okay, thanks, I will let him know. I laugh to myself, Finally, I will have the chance to kill him and on my territory.  What great luck I am having today.  I mind link William to prepare to move the girl. He couldn't care less about her, anyway. Maybe I’ll just use her for my self pleasures until I’m ready to get rid of her. She is kind of sexy to be a human. Where do you want me to take her? “To the basement for now, I will decide from there where I will put her.” Fine.  Was his reply, he doesn’t approve of all this, but he will when we have our revenge.  Lexi’s Pov William opens the door looking somewhat mad, but he always looks mad. I know it is not directed at me. He has been nice to me. I could tell he hated his father. I felt sorry for him. I’m moving you today.  He says as he enters the room. “Where?” I say with fear in my voice. To my father’s house, it’s not too far.  “why, did someone pay the ransom?” I say hopefully that someone cared enough to want me back. I don’t think so. My dad said to take you to the basement and he would figure out what to do with you from there.  Now I am asking you not to run. He will kill me if you are not in that basement when he goes to check in on you. “I know William. I wouldn’t do that you”. It is so weird that I care more about my captures son than he does. I won’t run because I know he will kill him if I’m not there. No when I escape it has to be under his watch not Williams. I don’t know why I thought Kaden had paid the ransom. Deep down I wanted it to be true, but I should have known. William told me last night that Kaden and Lisa had announced their engagement. How didn’t I know? She is my best friend. Hell, I lived with him for weeks. How did I miss their relationship? I sigh, thinking to myself as I follow William through the woods. I was in love with my best friend’s fiance. I am an awful person. No wonder Lisa hadn’t checked on me but a few times since I had gotten injured. She must have thought I was trying to take him away from her. I palm my head, thinking of how all that must have looked to her. I feel so bad that now I may never have the chance to tell her how happy I am for her. After walking for what felt like hours, we come to a clearing in the woods. A large rock house stands just at the other side of the clearing in front of us. It is beautifully constructed. I stare as we get closer thinking how could a man this hateful live in such a beautiful home, that’s until William says I have to put on the blindfold now. “Why we are already here.”  I know, but you were supposed to have it on the entire time. He says winking at me. “Oh, Okay.” I let him blind fold me, wishing I had paid more attention to the walk here now since he let me see the way. He leads me up some stairs which I am assuming are the front steps to the house, then I hear him open the door. Step up please, he says. I do as I am told, then I hear him close the door behind me. I count my steps to the next door, which I assume is the basement. Forty-nine steps. William then tells me there are twelve steps down and I count twelve exactly. My father will be down soon to check on you then you can remove the blindfold. Okay? “Okay” I say with a shaky voice. Now all I can do is wait. For whatever fate has to give me. I try not to panic, but it is very hard. I feel warm tears spill down my cheeks, scared that this will be the last place my eyes ever get to see.  I miss my parents. I wish I would have called them more or visited them more often. Soon exhaustion sets in form the long walk here and all the worry. Sleep takes over. Kaden’s Pov I arrive at the white moon pack just before dusk. Gunner is waiting outside on the front steps as gets out of my car. Alpha Lance, How may I assist you today. He says as I walk towards him.  I hate dealing with titles; I tell him to call me Kaden. I hope you are feeling better; I am sorry I am just now getting around to following up on our earlier conversation. “Well, with your announcement just last night I can see why.” Ah Yes Lisa. She has been taking up most of my time lately. “Come on in, we can talk in the study”. Thank you. I follow him down the hall to his study, where he motions for me to have a seat. He then moves to sit behind a large desk facing me. I pull out my file and ask him to tell me where he was the night Amy went missing. “I went to dinner in the city, and then I had a few drinks at a bar on Patton.” Were you with anyone? “Not anyone in particular, I danced with a few girls, then I went home.” Did you come home alone? “Yes. What is this Kaden, Am I a suspect in this girl’s death?” I take a picture of Amy out of my file and lay it on his desk. Do you know this girl, Gunner? His expression changed so quickly I almost missed it. But it went from cocky to sad in an instant. I didn’t study too long on it, but I saw it none the less. “Yeah, I knew her. I danced with her at the bar the night. Her and another girl.” My wolf jumped up on alert as something changed quickly in him. It was almost like his wolf took completely over but while he was human form. Only very strong wolves could manage that. I watched him as he grew angrier as the seconds passed. Confused about what was happening. Then he finally spoke. Do you remember me Kaden; from before, when we were kids? “No, I can’t say that I do; Gunner.” He laughs and says, well; I remember you. I remember how every time I had a crush on a girl you would ask her to go out with you, and they would because your Kaden lance. Big bad Alpha. He says as he stands and walks toward me. Even as a kid your wolf made an impression on people. I don’t guess you remember when you had my family kicked out of your pack either? “What in the hell are you talking about, Gunner? Your father was an Alpha, the Alpha of this very pack. You could have never been part of our pack.” That is not true. My father was an Omega, born to an Omega, Dominic’s Omega. Amy’s Father thought that my father was screwing her mom. Because our scent was all over her one night. That’s when we were brought before the council and given the choice to leave or fight Dominic for his position. My father was so weak he fought the Alpha of this pack, the white moon pack rather than your father because he didn’t think he would win. But the funny thing was. That very day, you and I had gotten in to a fight over a girl. My scent was all over you as yours was on me. Amy’s mother broke us up that day and carried you home. I guess that’s why my scent was all over her. You never said a word to them. You wanted us gone because you knew I was stronger than you. “Look Gunner, I said, your imagination is something else. I was never carried home by Amy’s mother in my life at any age, and my father would not exile someone out of jealousy from a pack member with no proof.” This seemed to hit a nerve. I could see his claws surface. I kept up with the verbal assault, proving him wrong on every account he tried to spew my way. I knew he had never been a part of our pack. I know every person who has been a part of our pack for the past hundred years. “I am afraid someone had filled you with lies, or you really are mentally ill. I met you when I became the Alpha of my pack and that is the first time I have ever met you.” He grabbed at his head and screamed, no that is not true.  You killed them. You killed them because they wanted me. They loved me! You made me see their bodies. How did you do it Kaden, what did you drug me with? Hum. Amy’s parents wanted her to marry you as your chosen mate, but she had a mate and you couldn’t handle being second in her life. You f*****g tore her apart, you bastard, and left me there to see it when I woke up. Just like Tonia.
