Confessions ?

Kaden’s fists ball up and his claws threaten to break through his skin.  Are you saying you were there at the crime scene, Gunner? Kaden asks. Gunner looked at him with an evil smile forming on his face.

“That’s exactly what I am saying Kaden, You see I know you’re the killer, and you have been able to hide the truth this whole time by taking over the investigation.”

You think I killed Amy and Tonia? Kaden laughs, barely containing his wolf. You think I was jealous because they loved you?

“I was there after you done it Kaden, I have waited years to have my revenge. I hope you told your family your last goodbyes when you left them today and oh by the way, Lisa will now be mine since you took everything from not only once but twice if only I had known weeks ago which one of them you wanted”.

Kaden’s Pov

I immediately went quiet, listening to every word coming from this man. Weeks ago? That mother fucker I thought to myself. He has her; he has Lexi, but where because I don’t smell her scent.

Gunner continues to talk in circles while I try to decipher what he is saying. I can only focus on one thing, and that’s Lexi.

My wolf is growling and I can feel him on the verge of taking over. If that happens, everyone in the house will die.

I need to get him to talk more about a few weeks ago. But he is rambling like a crazy person walking back and forth behind his desk.

Suddenly, he stops and walks over toward me and says to me,

 “I have got it. You drugged me, killed Tonia, then took my drugged body to the crime scene where you left me to take the fall. You tried to set me up for their murders because you couldn’t stand the thought of them loving me”.

Gunner, I wasn’t involved with either of those girls romantically. I didn’t even know they had an interest in you. Why would I do that? I think the better question here is what exactly happened with them, because if you woke up at both crime scenes. Seems to me like maybe you killed them? Or someone really tried to set you up, but I can assure you it wasn’t me.

With this gunner calmed, and I could tell he was struggling to remember the nights the girls died.

“I wouldn’t have hurt them Kaden, I loved them so much it hurt.”

Maybe you don’t remember what happened because you blocked it out.

“I didn’t kill them, Kaden. I know it was you”! He shouted in my direction with his Alpha voice.

Monster was growling now and there was nothing I could do. Nobody talks to me this way.

Gunner took a step back, realizing he overstepped. My wolf was angry. My eyes go completely yellow and I stalk toward Gunner, who is now regretting this day. I grab him by his throat against the wall when I hear a voice. Her voice! “OKAY” I hear her say to someone. My wolf on full alert and still on the verge of taking control forces me to release Gunner and go toward the voice. As I enter the hall, I see a young man coming from the other direction. When he sees me his eye goes wide with fear as Monster is making himself known.

Where is the girl you were just with? William opens his mouth to answers but nothing comes out before.

“She was trespassing on my territory I have taken her as a prisoner,”. Gunner intervenes.

Funny, she was taken from my territory just a few weeks ago. I turn to look at him. Snarling my teeth.

“She must have escaped her captors and stumbled onto my territory,”

Kaden hated that he couldn’t tell if the man was lying. If he knew he was the one who took her. He would end him here and now, but if he didn’t someone else was trying to set the man up and Kaden knew he had to be fair if only the man wasn’t hiding his scent which most wolves do now days.

 Go get her, she will leave with me. I demand to the young man. He looks to Gunner, who nods at him to go get the girl.

Kaden waits for the boy to go bring Lexi to him. Vowing silently, never to let her out of my sight again.

She will tell me what happened and if she had not escaped her captors, then Gunner was her captor and he would be a dead man. Along with anyone who helped him.

Within the next minute the boy appears with her, Her close were dirty, she has scratches and cuts all over her arms and they blindfolded her. Please leave the blindfold over her eyes. As you leave my territory.

Kaden reached for Lexi’s hand.

Lexi’s Pov

They scared me, William told me that the man I was going with was a monster and I better try an behave or he would most definitely kill me so that’s what I was trying to do. The man tugged me towards him and I moved my feet to follow the man. Once outside I counted the steps I had used earlier so I didn’t fall and make this man mad. I was so scared my hands shook.

You’re safe now, Kaden said as he felt her handshake and she froze.

“Kaden, is that you?” I whispered.

Leave your blind fold on until I tell you to remove it. He said as helped me in the car.

Relief washes over me as I realize Kaden had rescued me. He did it. I had prayed and prayed for someone to realize I was missing.

Thank you! I said with all of my emotions showing; I settled in the car seat, waiting for him to tell me I could take off the blindfold.

“Your welcome”. came his reply and he started the car and drove off.

I said no more to Kaden, I couldn’t stop thinking about what William had said to me. Why was he so afraid of Kaden? How did Kaden just get them to release me? I was so confused.

Kaden just saved my life and rescued me from my kidnappers. He was no monster!

We drove for a while and I relaxed into Kaden’s comfortable car seat. I had slept little for weeks, as all they gave me was a hard floor and dirty blanket and pillow. I let myself drift off to sleep.

Kaden’s pov

I wanted nothing more than to pull the car over and hold her, but she has no clue that she is my mate or any knowledge of what I am. She will fear me, and my heart can’t handle that right now. I am so happy she is alive and not hurt badly.

I know I have to tell her soon. She is in danger, and the only way to protect her is to tell her the truth. I shake my head and look over at her, only to find her peacefully sleeping with her covered face towards me. I reach over and remove the blindfold so I can see her beautiful face. I move my thumb to her bottom lip to remove some dirt when she stirs, so I stop, not wanting to wake her. She must be exhausted.

Lexi’s Pov

When I woke we were still driving, but Kaden had removed the blindfold from my eyes and was focused solely on driving. I move and sit up in the seat to see where we are going and we are heading to his family’s cabin in the woods.

Why are we going to your family’s cabin? I need to go home, Kaden.

“We have moved everything to the cabin from yours and Lisa’s apartment in town. You will both be staying here with us for a while until we figure out who broke into my house and took you.”

I know who took me.

“Who?”

The man at the rock house.

“You’re telling me you didn’t trespass on his land and get held as a prisoner.”

No, well I don’t really know I was in the kitchen at your house and then wait, there was something clawing at the door, I must have fainted or got knocked out just then because I remember nothing until I woke up. I was in a tiny shack in the woods. And there was a big black wolf looking dog that seemed to understand my words. I screamed at it until it went and found William to tend to me. William was the younger boy who brought me to you.

I was with them the whole time from what I can remember.

“I see”. Is all he said, but his jaw tightened and his grip on the steering wheel did as well.

I was staring at him, thinking again about Williams’s words. I could see how some people would fear him but I wasn’t I couldn’t figure it out.

A few minutes later we pull up to the cabin, but I see no other cars there.

Where is everyone?

“Dad is up in mountains with Oak and his family. Lisa is still at the office and will be here shortly. Colin, Elaina and Nina are at their cabins.”

“Oh, Okay.”

I go to get out of the car and he rushes out and around the car to my side as if I’m going to fall over or something.

“I am ok; Kaden. I am not even hurt. Look,”, I say as I jump up and down.

Fine, just please watch your step.

We go inside and he asks me to follow him to my room. I do as he asks and take in the cabin's view. I mean yeah, I saw the inside before, but not this level. We go up the stairs into a large sitting area where there are another set of stairs going to a third level. Once at the top I see only two doors and he opens them. You will stay in here. He opens the door and my mouth drops open.

 A large bed sits in the middle of the room facing a beautiful fireplace.  Over to the side there is a couch and 60 inch flat tv on the wall. A huge walk-in closet and I will assume the other door is the bathroom.

Kaden then says the bathroom is in there, He point to the mysterious door. All of your clothes are already here, as you can see. Please make yourself at home.

“Um, this is too much Kaden, I don’t need this big of a room.”

This is your room.

“But I am sure you and Lisa would be much more comfortable in here, I mean it’s so big for just one person”

Kaden froze taking in a deep breath,” you will not be alone”. He said as he walked out of the room, leaving me confused.
