As I was sitting there waiting for Jenny, I decided I was going to start getting my new life together. So far my cover was going to be that I was Jenny’s cousin, from another city. I guess I’ll have to be her younger cousin since I’m going to be rather small for a guy. Jenny can help me find my new look tomorrow. I had a few connections on getting some paperwork under my new identity. If I can get most of this done tomorrow it will give me some time practicing to be Alex.
While I was sitting there a man suddenly slide into the booth with me. I quickly put away my phone and looked at him. He wasn’t looking at all, but rather scanning the room.
I cleared my voice, “Excuse me, but I think that you have the wrong table,” I said to him.
His head snapped to me and he looked rather shocked.
“Oh I am so sorry, I thought you were my cousin,” he said to me.
“Sure,” I said flatly. Seriously what a weird pick up line. That I look like his cousin. The weirdo.
“Seriously, my cousin is sitting in the back too and I was distracted looking for someone,” he smiled sheepishly.
He looked sincere enough so I thought I would give the guy a break.
“It could happen to the best of us,” I smiled back at him. “Did you need help finding your friend?”
“I need more than help finding her, I need help meeting her,” he said with a laugh.
I looked at him with one eyebrow raised. “You’re looking for someone you’ve never met before? You know that gives off stalker vibes right?”
He looked at me for a moment and then started to laugh. “I guess that came out a little creepy didn’t it? ..Long story short, there’s this girl I’ve seen here several times and every time I try to introduce myself to her, some other guys beats me to it. I’m hoping that just one night I can introduce myself first.”
I shook my head at him, “You’re either super romantic or super stalkerish. You don’t seem like a creep, but I mean, do stalkers always have to come off as creepy?” I said half joking.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to pull out my creeper vibe, I’ll try to act a little more normal,” he said laughing. “Well if I can’t meet my dream girl, at least tonight wasn’t a complete waste. I got to have an interesting conversation with someone who gets my stalker side.”
“If you promise to not stalk me, I guess we could be almost be friends,” I said to him offering him a slice of pizza.
“I’m sorry, but if you are trying to buy my heart with pizza and good company, I am not that cheap,” he said as he grabbed a slice. “But I will say this, if my heart wasn’t already taken, this would have worked.”
“I think I need my pizza back,” I said reaching for it.
“Ok, ok. If you wanted to hold my hand, all you had to do was ask,” he said.
I went back to my seat, I’m not sure about this guy, he seems harmless, but an annoying handful.
“Well, it’s been fun, but I have to get back to some work,” I said to him, “I hope you find your girl or your cousin.”
“Oh wow, maybe I didn’t get the wrong table,” that is something that my cousin would say. Actually he is probably on his phone right now answering emails and scheduling business meetings and other such boring things. That’s why I brought him here so that he could have a little bit of fun. You two might be a perfect match, or maybe you’d be bad influences on each other and you would both be glued to work and never even notice each other.”
“Well it’s a good thing that I didn’t come here for some match making,” I said rather annoyed. I’m here to avoid being matched up.

Jackson

As I was studying her I saw Ryan slide into the booth with her. I felt a slight bit of irritation, was that the girl that he was looking for? She really didn’t seem like his type. She didn’t seem like the usual socialite that he tended to date.
I kept watching them, I couldn’t get a good look at her face, but I couldn’t tell that they were chatting and laughing. I felt like leaving, since Ryan found who he was looking for, but the other part of me couldn’t tear my eyes away.
As I sat there watching them interact, I felt myself becoming more and more frustrated. I was on the verge of leaving when Ryan got up and headed back over to our table. I looked down at my glass, I didn’t want him to know that I had been watching him with that girl.
“Looks like the food still hasn’t arrived yet,” said Ryan as he sat down.
“I was actually just about ready to leave, I figured you wouldn’t be coming back,” I said to him, with a bit more bitterness in my voice than I had intended. I always prided myself in not giving in to emotions and keeping calm.
“What?! You promised that we were stay for an hour..” Ryan said.
I just shrugged my shoulders, I can’t believe he expected me to just sit here while he hung out with some girl. I am too busy for that crap.
“Come on Jackson, we made a deal, and I was really not wanting to hang out alone, just in case she didn’t show up,” John said to me.
“In case who didn’t how up?” I asked him. I was a bit confused at this point, wasn’t that the girl that he was looking for?
“The girl I was telling you about,” John said.
“Wasn’t that the girl you were just sitting with?” I said to him, nodding in the direction of the girl.
“Oh that, no, I was distracted and sat at the wrong table, I’m not sure who she was, she didn’t give me her name,” Ryan said. “She was cute, but I’m not ready to give up on my dream girl yet.”
“Then why were you sitting with her for so long,” I said trying not to sound as annoyed as I felt, but then again, I had every right to be annoyed since he had made me wait. So why wouldn’t I be annoyed?
Ryan was prattling on about, whatever it was he was talking about. I had lost interest, and would nod my head occasionally, but my thought went back to that girl. I looked past Ryan and saw her still sitting by herself, going through her phone. Occasionally she would look out to the floor. From the side angle view I had of her, she was one of the most attractive women I had ever seen. The only difference is, usually I’m not interested in them at all.
I saw a man approach her table, he was standing there with two drinks in his hands, he had the most annoying smile I had ever seen on a man. I couldn’t even call him a man, he looked completely unimpressive, from the lack of style to the way he carried himself. He was nothing more than some college boy. I could see that he was offering he one of the drinks. I had gripped my drink a little tighter.
“What’s got you so upset?” I heard Ryan’s voice, bringing me back to reality.
“what?” I snapped at him.
“If you squeeze your drink any tighter, you’re going to break the glass,” he said nodding at my hand.
I loosened the grip I had on my glass and told myself to relax. “It’s nothing, the music is just too loud here, and it’s giving me a headache.”
He nodded his head and didn’t seem interested in pursuing the matter. His gaze went back out to the club, trying to find his latest love interest.
I looked back over to the table, considering on whether or not I should go over there, but she was gone. My eyes darted around the room to try and find her, but she was gone.
