Oops! My Disguise Worked Too Well!

Alexis — There is no way on earth I am going to go to that fancy preppy college that my grandfather has picked out for me. For some reason the only thing that he wants from me is to be a social butterfly that marries the right kind of guy from the right kind of family. My parents passed away when I was little, and I’ve been living with my grandfather ever since. Don’t get me wrong, I love him, I just don’t want to be some airhead that is only good for becoming a wife of someone that does business with our family. I want to be the one taking over. When I got home this afternoon there were so many brochures on the table with all the different choices for me to attend. He had connections at all of them. My grandfather had one of the largest companies and even being a little older, everyone feared and respected him. When I looked around I didn’t see anyone, so I snuck to my room. The last thing I wanted was to have another fight about my future. I know he meant well, he just wanted me taken care of, but it was such an old fashioned life that I wanted no part of. I grabbed my bag and started to head out my door when I heard some voices. One of them definitely belonged to grandfather, the other two I didn’t recognize. There were only two choices when strangers were in the house. It was someone here to do business with grandfather, and they were more important than the regular meetings held at the office, or grandfather brought them here for me to meet. In either case, I wasn’t interested in finding out which it was. So I went back into my room. Well this is going to be a bit harder than I thought to get out tonight. Since they decided to get home earlier today, I doubt I would be able to make to the front or back door if they were here for me. This left me only one choice. Climbing out the window.. although not preferred I’ve done it enough times to make it out the second floor fairly quickly. “Sorry Grandfather, I hope you won’t be too upset this evening,” I said looking at my bedroom door. I secured my bag around me and headed out the window. There was a nice big tree right outside my bedroom that I used as an escape when I needed it. — William Connors — I loved Alexis very much but she never seemed to understand what was best for her. Her parents passed away when she was seven years old and has been with me ever since. She looked so much like my daughter Julia, her mother. She has the same brown here and big brown eyes. She also had the same temperament as Julia, the same fire in her spirit. I know my daughter would have wanted to let her daughter be the free spirit she was, but I couldn’t bear for something to happen to her. All I wanted was to make sure she was safe and then to find someone for her, that would take care of her and make sure she is always safe. She has just graduated high school and now we are figuring out what university would be the best fit for her. We had several to choose from where she could stay here, or at least in a dorm very close to where I could still keep an eye on her. She didn’t seem too thrilled with any of those options. I had gotten home early today with some company. They were from a very influential family and we were considering some close business relations, The Thorns were almost as old a family as we were. And Old John Thorn and I were pretty close back in our youth. He sent a couple of his grandsons to the house to discuss some future plans since he himself was out of the county currently. When I found out they were only a few years older than Alexis I decided to hold the meeting at home and introduce them to her if I had a good feeling about them. I had just gotten home and in the front door when a black limo pulled up to the gates. I let Tom the guard at the front gate to let them in, I was expecting them. I watched as they got out of the limo. Both of them were tall and good looking men. Both had on suits and looked every bit of a Thorn. I had instructed the house keeper to let them in when they got here and to lead them to my study. — Alexis — When I reached the ground I quietly snuck around front to see if I could get an idea of who was visiting grandfather. All I saw was a black limo. Figures, how very pretentious. I’m glad that I got out of there before I had to act like a refined, well mannered, priss. I hopped over the wall and called an Uber to meet me a few blocks down. I didn’t want to stay around too close just in case they decided to look for me. I gave the driver instructions to take me to a local car shop, my baby has been in there for a month now. I had wanted a few adjustments done and the parts were being shipped from the moon evidently. When he pulled up to the shop, I thanked him for the ride and gave him a tip. “Hey, is Joe here today?” I asked one of the guys that were outside. “Hey Alexis, yeah, he’s here. He didn’t say anything about you coming today to pick up your care though..” he said to me. “No, I just decided to stop on by and see how the progress was going,” I smiled and walked into the office front desk area. “”Hey, Alexis, your car might actually get done today,” said the Mandy, Joe’s wife. “Now that is what I call perfect timing,,” I said to here. “Do you know about when it will be finished today?” “Probably within the hour, but I can let the guys know that you are here so to hurry it up.” She said to me. “You are literally my life savior,” I said dramatically. She smiled and headed to the shop. Joe came back with her. They were such a cute couple. They were in their fifties but still totally in love. Mandy had once told me that they were high school sweethearts. They still looked like they were newly in love. “Hey Alexis, so the boys are just finishing her up and then it will be all ready for you, but please, maybe be more careful this time around.” He playfully scolded me. “You know it wasn’t my fault last time right?” I asked him. He just shook his head. “You know if you’re going to continue racing, at least practice “I was practicing, and then someone wanted to practice with me, and I couldn’t just let them beat me, what would my reputation be like them?” I laughed. — William Thorn — I heard Eve walking the two men to my studded. I was going to get the work portion done first that way I could get to know them better and see if one of them would be a good fit for Alexis. After a couple hours talking business we closed up our laptops and our folders. They looked like they were going to get up and head out. They were going to be disappointed though.
