Chapter 16 –––––––– FAREESA WALKED SLOWLY around the prone form of Zara, who was laid out on a flat table in a dimly lit room. Several candles which burned a deep cerulean blue flame released soft, calming scents. In her hand, a small gong was struck with each third step to signify the third plane of existence that her people believed in, the inner mind. She chanted softly, knowing that normally there would be another priest or priestess to do the chanting for her and ring the gong, but as she was the only member of the species on the station, there was little choice in the matter.
