"I've asked them to prepare scrambled eggs, toast, and orange juice. Is that okay?" He asked.
I nodded without looking up at him.
"Saanj. KEEP.THAT.FUCKING.PHONE.DOWN."
He bellowed and his fist came down on the table which made me jump in my seat.
I looked at him, his eyes were smouldering. His brows were furrowed. I locked my phone and kept it aside.
The staff came and started serving breakfast. I could feel his smouldering gaze on me but I didn't look up at him. I was staring at the white ceramic plate that now had eggs and toast.
Someone filled the glass with juice that was beside my plate. I looked up and saw Isla.
"Isla," I said in a muted voice. "Could I get some tea please?"
She nodded. "Sí Señorita."
"Take this juice away. I don't want it." I said. Isla picked the glass and left.
Sabil had started eating. I was angry and upset. I don't know why I was taking so much s**t from him. I never liked anyone yelling at me. My mother had also stopped shouting at me after my father's passing away. Losing dad had made us three come closer to each other. I was not really used to taking scolding from anyone.
I kept circling my spoon into the scrambled eggs and sulked.
"Eat." He ordered.
I ignored him. Isla placed a cup of tea near my hand and left. I picked the cup and started sipping slowly.
"I said eat." He ordered firmly again.
"I'm not hungry." I retorted.
"Damn it Saanj." He yelled.
"Stop shouting at me. You have no rights." I scowled.
A rumbling sound came through his throat. "I told you last night. Don't cross me." His lips pulled back from his teeth.
I knew I'd gotten on his bad side. What if he doesn't get me my ticket and keep me hostage? For a second I thought of listening to him but I'm not the one to take anyone's bullshit. I decided to rebel.
I tried to keep my face calm and flicked one brow. "What will you do?" I challenged. "Kill me?"
He was absolutely seething now. He kept his palms on his face and I heard him inhale and exhale. I waited patiently for him to speak.
He then looked at me. His expressions were still sullen. "Finish eating." He said harshly.
I'd got my answer. He cannot do anything to me. All his threats were a bluff just so that I stay with him. I smirked at him, hoping that would make him more furious. Then I ate two spoons of scrambled egg, finished my tea, and got on my toes. I took my phone and as I turned to leave, I heard the chair abruptly screech on the floor and within seconds I found him standing right in front of me.
He held me tightly from my arms and I flinched.
"You listen to me now." He spoke through clenched teeth. "I am being nice to you doesn't mean I will take this attitude of yours. You are going to start listening to me from now on and if you don't, you are not leaving. No matter what you say or even if you cry, I'm not letting you go back home. Do you understand me?" He shook my frame abruptly.
I could feel my eyes tearing up. His face was still sullen. A snarl ripping through his throat as he looked irately into my eyes. My voice was stuck in my throat.
He shook me roughly again, making my lungs jump. "DO.YOU.FUCKING.UNDERSTAND?" He enunciated.
"E...E...Yess..." I choked and my eyes were pooled with tears.
He firmed his grip on my arms to the point of pain.
"Sss..." I winced. I blinked feverishly through tears, making them roll down my face.
I could see the furrowed lines on his forehead vanishing. His eyes serene and his lips stopped trembling.
We were both quiet for a long moment. It was like the calm after a storm. My arms were still under his tight claws. I didn't fight.
He slowly unclenched his fingers from around my arms and his hands fell loosely by his side. I stood there looking down at my feet.
"Saanj." He whispered. His voice calm.
I looked up at him through tears. He sighed and stroked both his thumb on my cheekbones and wiped off my tears.
I saw remorse in his face. He brought his face closer and I wanted to flinch, but before I could, he planted a soft kiss on my forehead.
I sighed and rubbed my eyes with the heels of my palms.
"Sorry. I shouldn't have...
"It's...s...okay." I didn't let him finish. "I just want to go to my room."
He sighed again. "Saanj, I asked you to stay with me so that I could take you out. I don't want you to get bored at home. But something important has come up. I have to attend a meeting in the afternoon for which I have to rush in some time. But I promise I will take you out tomorrow. Okay?" He said in a serene voice.
That almost made me feel bad for getting on his nerves. He clearly didn't deserve that. He just wanted to keep me happy and....follow his orders which didn't sound right but I was sure his intentions weren't bad.
I nodded and looked down at my feet again.
He kissed my hair. Then he placed a finger under my chin and coxed my face up. I looked at his insanely gorgeous eyes. I could feel the tears drying on my cheeks. He smiled softly and ran his fingers slowly on my hairline above my ear and slid it deep inside my hair behind my ear.
My eyes were locked on his face. It looked like he was about to kiss me. His face was so calm and his lip curved into a beautiful smooth smile. He caught my gaze and buried his eyes into mine.
"Lo Siento. I promise I will never make you cry again." He said.
I nodded softly. He closed his eyes and kissed my forehead again.
"Now come on. Finish your breakfast."
I was about to shake my head but he had kept his warning eyes on me.
I sighed and sat back in the chair.
"I'll ask them to make fresh eggs." He said.
I shook my head. "It's fine. I'll finish this."
"Okay, I'll call for your tea." He walked towards the living area and spoke in Spanish on the call.
He sat opposite to me and eyed my plate.
Luckily I had started to eat.
Isla got my tea. We both finished breakfast quietly and Isla came back to clear the table.
"Let me know if you need anything to kill your time. You can watch movies or play video games if you like. I've got a good collection. If there's anything else you need I'm just a call away." He said while we walked towards the stairs.
"Thank you."
He smiled. "You can ask the chef to cook anything you want to eat. Everything is available. If not, they'll go to the store and buy it. There are beers in the guest bedroom's fridge downstairs. Ask Isla to show it to you. Help yourself with as many you want but please don't get wasted." He then chuckled.
A chuckle escaped my lips too. We had reached our rooms. He was staying in the room opposite mine.
"I'm sorry I couldn't give you a house tour. This meeting was impromptu. I could have avoided if this deal wasn't so important. I can give you a tour in the evening or you can ask Isla."
"That's okay. Don't worry about it." I said.
He placed his hand on my cheek. "Can I come to see you before leaving?" He asked innocently.
I looked at his godly face and felt so guilty for hurting him. "Of course," I said.
