The deafening explosion ripped through the air as the pink car erupted into a massive fireball right in front of Edward and Natalie.
The shockwave hit like a tidal wave, and without thinking, Edward grabbed Natalie, pulling her into his arms and diving to the ground. His body shielded hers, as if he was willing to protect her from any danger that came their way.
Natalie could hear Edward's strong, rapid heartbeat and labored breathing. Turning her head, she saw a deep cut on the back of his left hand, blood streaming from where a sharp piece of debris had sliced his skin.
Her heart tightened painfully.
