Chapter 8

The heavy doors of the underground hall slammed shut behind them, and Nora realized she was about to see the true face of the Kane power. The pack meeting was already loud and angry. Dozens of werewolves filled the long table and stood along the walls. Voices overlapped as arguments flew back and forth. One older man pointed at Blake. "The East Side pack is pushing harder every week. We lost two good wolves last month. What are you doing about it?" Blake stood at the head of the table like he owned every inch of the room. "We are preparing a counter strike. But we do it smart. No more pointless losses." Another younger wolf jumped up. "Smart? You spend more time with that human girl than running the pack. She is making you weak." Drew stepped beside his brother, eyes flashing with warning. "Say that again and you will regret it. Nora is not just any girl. She is part of this family." Nora watched from the side, heart beating fast. The tension in the room felt alive. She could almost taste it. Blake's voice dropped low. "Enough. We decide together but my word is final." The challenger laughed bitterly. "Your word? Show us you are still the alpha we follow." Blake did not hesitate. He let out a deep roar and shifted right there in front of everyone. His body changed fast into a massive black wolf with glowing eyes and powerful muscles. Drew shifted right after him, his lighter brown wolf form sleek and deadly. Nora gasped and stepped back. The sight scared her deep down but also pulled her forward. She could not look away. Their wolves were beautiful and terrifying at the same time. "Blake," she whispered. "Drew." The black wolf turned toward her and gave a protective growl that seemed to shake the room. The lighter wolf paced once and stood beside his brother, ready to fight anyone who challenged them. The pack members fell quiet. One elder finally spoke. "The alphas are strong. But the girl carries something old. We all feel it." Nora walked closer even though her legs felt shaky. "I can feel it too. Watching you shift. Something inside me is waking up. The bond is changing me. I feel stronger. Like I can sense emotions in the room." Blake shifted back to human form, breathing hard. His eyes still glowed slightly. "Good. You are starting to understand. This is what we are offering you. Real power. Real connection." Drew shifted back and came straight to her. He touched her arm gently. "Does it scare you? Be honest with us." Nora looked between them. "It does scare me. You both become something else. Something wild. But it also fascinates me. I felt energy rush through me when you shifted. Like the bond was feeding me strength." Blake pulled her into a side hallway connected to the hall. "Come with us. The meeting can wait a few minutes. You need to feel this fully." Drew followed close behind and closed the door to a small hidden room. "Let the bond speak. Stop fighting what you feel." Nora backed up against the wall but her eyes showed desire. "You two always push. I am still trying to figure out who I am in all this." Blake stepped close and cupped her face. "You are our mate. Feel how right that is." He kissed her deeply. Nora moaned into his mouth and kissed him back. Drew moved in from the side and kissed her neck. "This is crazy," Nora said when they broke for air. "We just came from a pack meeting. Anyone could walk in." Drew smiled against her skin. "That makes it better. Tell us you want this." Nora pulled Blake closer. "I should say no. But I do want it. I want both of you." Their hands moved fast. Clothes dropped to the floor piece by piece. Blake lifted her and pressed her against the wall. "Wrap your legs around me." Nora did as he said and gasped loudly when he pushed inside her. "Blake. Yes. Harder." Drew watched them with hungry eyes. "She takes you so well. Look at her face." Blake thrust deep and steady. "Tell me how it feels. Talk to us." Nora moaned with every movement. "It feels powerful. Like the bond is alive inside me. I can feel your strength." Drew stepped closer and kissed her while Blake continued. "My turn soon. We will make you feel everything." They moved to a low couch in the corner. Drew took over, entering her smoothly. "So wet for us. You were made for this." Nora held onto his shoulders. "Drew. Do not stop. I need more." Blake kissed her breasts and neck. "She is opening up. The bond is strengthening her." Nora cried out as pleasure built fast. "I feel different. Stronger. Like I could face anything with you two." Drew moved faster. "Then stop hiding from us. Let us all the way in." Blake whispered in her ear. "Come for us. Show us how much you need this." Nora reached her peak with a loud cry. The twins followed soon after, holding her tight between them. Their bodies stayed connected as they caught their breath. "That was intense," Nora said softly. "I felt my senses sharpen. I could almost hear the pack talking in the next room." Drew stroked her hair. "The bond is working. You are becoming more like us. It is beautiful." Blake held her close. "But you are still keeping secrets. I can feel it in the bond. What are you hiding?" Nora tensed but kept her voice calm. "I am still processing everything. My old life. My new life. Give me time to trust fully." Drew kissed her shoulder. "We can be patient. But we are here for you. All of you." They dressed quickly and returned to the main hall. The pack meeting had calmed down. Nora felt changed. The bond had given her a taste of real power and she liked it more than she wanted to admit. Later that night she went back to her room alone. A small envelope slid under her door caught her eye. She picked it up and opened it carefully. The message was short but clear. "I know the real truth about your mother's death. It was not an accident like they say. Meet me at the old city gallery tomorrow night at ten. Come alone if you want justice. Destroy this note after reading." Nora stared at the paper, her mind racing. Someone knew secrets the twins did not. This could be her chance to finally get revenge for everything that happened. She hid the note deep in her drawer and tried to act normal when she heard footsteps outside her door. The game had just become much more dangerous, and Nora was no longer sure whose side she truly wanted to be on.
