I saw the fear in her eyes before I understand what was happening. The ground beneath her cracked open into black nothingness.
I ran.
But wasn't fast enough. It was like a black hole opened up behind them, the air around us distorted violently. The scent of blood, ash, and dark magic thickened.
Behind me I heard caroline as she screamed her name.
But I knew.
The place was empty. And elena was nowhere to be seen and neither was ezira that witch. She was gone again.
It was like my beast had control, my claws extendend without my command, digging into the ground she was stood as the rage tore through me.
I had just held her again after all this while.
Just kissed her.
Promised her to keep her safe.
And I failed.
Again.
What had just happened? My voice was barely human.
