He dropped to one knee.
I knelt beside him, hands trembling, pressing against the wound as he grimaced.
“Stay with me,” I whispered, tears streaming down my cheeks. “Please…. just stay with me.”
Blood rushed through my ears as I held him, my hands soaked with thick red, my heart threatening to stop with every breath he struggled to take.
