CHAPTER 1
"Are you coming or are you going to keep up the, I want to stay attitude?" Her voice brought me back to reality.
The reality was that I was going to become someone else's child.
Becoming someone else's child was horrible for me.
I never thought it brought happiness to the foster or step-parent since they had to cater to the child who didn't belong to them.
"I am right behind you." There was no other option left for me anyway. I wasn't strong enough to take on a piece of banditry or a group of thugs who wanted me for my body. So I just had to go. I carried my two-layered box, which contained clothes and my things, into the taxi my apparent stepfather had booked for us.
My mom had explained that he was an Alpha, quite wealthy, and also had a handsome son, which she hoped I would get along with. I wasn't going for the money or wealth; I just wanted a room of my own where I could be locked up for the rest of my life.
The journey to the Crescent Moon was out of the ordinary. It was filled with wonders and characteristic nature all over. I wanted to jump out of the car and scream into the woods, but the intention was immediately eliminated when I remembered my final decision.
The taxi finally halted in front of a mansion painted blue with a touch of silver. What a wonderful place to settle down after such a tremendous event. My mom, unlike me, wasn't even surprised to see the building; rather, she was in a hurry to enter the main house, leaving me to unravel the mystery of how to get the boxes into the house.
"You're finally here. I thought you had a change of plans." I could hear his thick voice as I struggled with the boxes.
"Oh, what do we have here?" I heard his thick, masculine voice once more as I gained entrance into the main building.
"This... This is Nova, my one and only daughter".
"How come you never told me that your daughter was this beautiful and elegant-looking?"
"I didn't feel you needed the information since you never asked for the details. Also, I wanted you to see her face-to-face."
"Good day, sir." I bent my head a little in a bow before lowering the box to the ground. "Good day to you too. The name is Nicholas; nice to meet you," he said, stretching forth his hand, awaiting my hands to touch his. "I'm not really into greetings," I said, withdrawing my hands toward my back.
"That's fine. Your mom already told me you were an introvert. Sorry to pry anyway," he said, also withdrawing his hands.
"Thank you for understanding, sir. Soo. Where do I drip the boxes??"
"Your room is right up the corner on the right," he said, pointing towards the hallway.
The day went by quickly and silently. Being locked up in my new room was practically the best peace I have ever gotten. Even though I heard kisses outside my room, I didn't feel bothered since it was probably my mom and my new father.
"Nova, come on out for dinner," she howled at me, knocking on the door in an attempt to strike it down. "I am on my way," I responded faster than usual to save the door from crumbling to the ground.
I rolled out of bed stressed out, even though I didn't make any attempts to work. Within the blink of an eye, I was sitting on a wooden chair with a round table right in front of me. My stepfather kept on staring at me, not even glancing away for a minute.
"I have come to terms with your mother, and we have come to a conclusion," I heard Nicholas blurt out, still fixing his eyes on me. He and my mother...conclusion... What the heck was he saying? I never asked them for anything, so why do they have to come to terms with it?
"What's that?" I asked as my curiosity piqued.
"Your mom and I have decided to let you continue to go to school and be educated since you aren't good with brawls."
"You said it right, darling. Either you have the brains, the brawls, or both to survive in this world of ours and you, Nova, ain't an exception." My mom interrupted our yet-to-began conversation.
"Do I have an exception?" I tried to avoid leaving my cozy room.
"Nope, you don't have a choice. It's either that or you give a public speech to the entire pack tomorrow morning," she said with a smirk on her face. What a wicked woman she was!!
"Fine, I will go to school," I reluctantly said before getting a grip of the silver spoon on the table.
"Now let's eat," she let out, setting the table.
"Yes, let's see what a good cook your mother is.".
"Trust me, you won't want to eat that," I let out, trying not to be rude.
"No, I want to try it," Nicholas said before taking down a spoonful of the soup.
"So, how is it?" I asked, keeping my distance from her.
"It's quite delicious," Nicholas said, holding back the temptation to spit out the soup.
"You see, it's not so bad after all. Dig in while it's still hot." She faked a smile as she tasted the soup she had just prepared.
"Thank you, but I am good." I dodged, trying to make my way to my room.
"Come back here right now and gulp down that soup." I felt my body shudder with fear as Nicholas whispered into my ears. I stole a glimpse of him, and seeing his blue eyes burning red, I hurried back to the chair, gulping the soup down my throat.
"I knew you would like it.".
I thought I was going to end up with the nicest parents ever. What a drag!!!
