My mother and aunt naturally agreed. Later that night, they visited my grandmother in her cell.
“When does your father plan to have your wedding ceremonies,” my grandmother asked.
“In a week,” my aunt told her.
“Good we still have time,” my grandmother told them.
“What do you mean, Mother?” my mother asked her.
She told them about another dream that she had, and she told them she was visited by another goddess, but it was the goddess of the moon. She told them that my grandfather had done something unspeakable in the name of power. He kidnapped the moon goddess’s child and was going to drain her of her power during the next full moon. They needed to find this girl and get her out of her before he could go through his horrendous plans.
“What about the wedding and your mother? Carmen asked my mother.
“I had asked my mother the same questions she told me and my sister, screw the wedding and not to worry about her, she would be okay. She had already made peace with death she lived a happy life she was able to see my sister and me grow up happy and not tainted by the darkness that had infected our coven. She told us that we needed to go to the restricted section in the library and find a dark purple book of position and steal it. It would allow us to brew the potions we would need to assist us on our mission,” she told her.
We let my mother continue the story she told me. She and my aunt cried and said goodbye to my grandmother. After they left the dungeon, my mother and aunt got to work on their escape plan. They had a week till the full moon to find the girl and get the hell out of dodge. But they had no idea where to even begin to look. Later that night, my mother and aunt came up with a plan to sneak into the library to steal the book on potions my grandmother told them about.
“Why did you need to steal a book of potions Mother, didn’t you already have a grimoire?” I asked my mother.
“I did, but the book we needed was for more advanced magic users,” she said.
“Oh okay,” I answered.
My mother told me the next morning that they had set their plan in motion for my mother as supposed to distract the librarian. My aunt Rochelle snuck the keys from behind the desk and grabbed the book from the restricted section. Everything had gone off without a hitch until it was time for Aunt Rochelle to sneak back out of the library. She ran right into your grandfather, heading to his office. He had a gentleman and lady with him and two boys who looked close to me and Rochelle’s age, maybe a little older. I was on my way back to the library with the librarian when I saw the incident happen.
“Oh no, what happened?” I asked my mother.
“Your grandfather wanted to know what book Rochelle had behind her back,” my mother told me.
“What did she do?” Camen asked my mother anxiously.
“She put a glamor spell on the book to make it look like something else,” my mother answered.
“Wait but most witches and wizards can see through glamor that was cast by someone weaker than them. So, how was your grandfather able to not see through the glamor spell if he was an elder?” Trey asked my mother.
“I am not sure, little one. Maybe it was his arrogance. Maybe it was because of the darkness that tainted him and made him weaker,” she said to him.
My mother told us after the library run-in, my grandfather walked away, but the two boys lingered behind.
“Why did you lie?” the brown-haired boy asked Rochelle.
“What are you talking about? No one lied?” my mother said defensively.
“Calm down, no one is going to rat you out,” the blonde hair boy said.
“My name is Noah,” the brown-haired boy said.” “And this is my stepbrother and cousin Malakhi,” he pointed to the blonde-haired boy.
“Wait, stepbrother and cousin?” Trey asked.
“Yes, Noah’s dad married, Malakhi’s mother after his brother died,” my mother explained.
“Wow that is messed up. Why would you want to marry your brother's mate? But go ahead, Aunt Naomi finish telling us the story,” Trey said.
My mother continued there was an awkward silence before my mother told me she decided to do the introduction.
“Hi, I am Naomi, and this is my twin sister Rochelle,” My mother introduced herself and my aunt.
“So why did you lie about the book?” Noah asked again.
“We are not supposed to have it, I stole it from the restricted section,” Rochelle answered him,
“Wait why would she tell him,” Carmen interrupted. Before my mother could answer, Trey beat her to it.
“If they wanted to snitch on them, they would have done it as soon as they saw through the glamor spell.”
“Trey is exactly right. So, after the introductions were done, the boys offered to help us with our plan.”
“Why would they want to help?” I asked my mother.
“They weren’t too gung-ho about the arrangements, Noah had already met his beloved, but since she was not a witch, his father didn’t approve.”
“What about Malakhi?” Carmen asked.
“Malakhi had not met his beloved yet, but he wasn’t attracted to women. His uncle was old school and believed that it would bring dishonor to the coven if Malakhi was to be with a man,” my mother explained.
My mother said that while the adults were still meeting, going over the terms of the arranged marriages. They snuck off to come up with a plan. She said Noah came up with the idea to take a cloaking potion. So, they would be invisible when they snuck into my grandfather's office. Rochelle and Malakhi would stand guard after they got the info they were supposed to rendezvous back at the garden.
