Chapter 14- Eavesdropping!

Vihaan POV:-

When Avarnika smiled, I saw my mother's image on her.

Avarnika's face is totally different from our mother's, but her personality towards her children is the same.

I haven't done any background checks on Avranika because I want to hear what she will tell me, and then I will check her life to check if she said to us the truth or not.

I didn't like her best friend a bit.

She dared to disrespect me. No one in my life ever disrespects me.

Avarnika did because I saw her mother's instinct in her eyes when she yelled at me and slapped me.

When she agreed to come with us, I sighed in relief.

When she declared her condition, I agreed as I could understand her feelings.

" Avarnika, have you gone mad? You don't know anything about them. How can you take the children with them so easily? Have you forgotten what this man did yesterday? " Anjali spat, and I closed my eyes to calm myself.

She is hitting my nerves.

" Anjali, I can see the serious look in their eyes. Also, Vihaan is the president and cardio surgeon of Life Care Hospital. I may not know anything about the business world. But we know very well how vast Life Care Hospital is. They will never do fraud with us. " Avarnika explained, and I smiled.

Of course, my sister-in-law is smart.

I glared at Anjali, who glared back at me.

" Then I will come with you too. I don't believe them a bit. " Anjali declared, and my temper arose.

" No, Anjali. You know very well that in April our exams will start. You will stay here and study. You need to take care of my uncle and aunt too. " Avarnika declared.

Before Anjali could say another word, Avarnika's phone rang.

I saw the screen when she took her phone from her pocket. The person who called her saved the number under Boss Gautam Dewan.

" Excuse me! " She said and went near the window.

Although I liked to keep everyone's life private, I wanted to know about the relationship between Avarnika and her boss.

" Hello, Mr. Dewan. " Avarnika said.

I didn't know what Mr. Gautam Dewan said, but Avarnika replied, " Mr. Dewan. I apologize for not coming till now. Something unexpected happened, and I would need to do work from home for some time. I hope you can understand. "

She bit her lips and heard what he was saying.

She said, " Okay! I will come to the office in the next hour. We will discuss this matter in the evening. "

" Alright! Have a good day, Mr. Dewan. " She said and cut the call.

" I never knew that the great Mr. Vihaan Smith liked to hear other people's conversations. " Anjali said near my ear.

I turned and glared at her.

She was standing near me. We had just a one-inch gap.

I smelled her pine smell and found it amazing.

I looked at her eyes and got lost in them.

She cleared her thoughts, and I came to my senses.

I glared at her and said, " Ms. Anjali Verma, I think you had a very wrong impression of me. I am not the one you thought. I did one bad thing. I know that was my rude behavior. You made the conclusion about me just because of what I did. "

" Yes, I did that because I hate that behavior of yours. Because of you, my friend didn't sleep a bit the whole night.

Now she had to do the work all day long without having any rest. Do you have any shame? " She spat, and I lost all my control.

I caught her wrist in a tight grip and yelled, " No, I don't have any shame in me. Why would I have? I have done nothing wrong. I wanted to check if she truly cares for them or not. What was wrong with it?

Ms. Anjali Verma, you don't know anything about the cruelness of this world. So, don't you dare to question my points, got it? " I spat. Her eyes held tears which made my heart ache for unknown reasons.

" Bro, stop it. You are hurting her. " Jay said, and I looked at her wrist and realized that I truly held her hand in a tight grip.

I left her hand immediately and saw her wrist turn red. She took a few steps back in fear.

I felt ashamed of what I did.

After all, mom always told me never hurt any female if you are a true man.

I realized I had disappointed my mother.

I took two steps toward her, and she flinched.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

" Anjali, I... I am sorry. " I apologized with great difficulty.

Jay and Rudi looked at me with shock. After all, I never apologized to anyone except mom because I never made any mistakes.

" Vihaan, I think you have anger issues. We will talk about this at night. I need to go now. So, I will meet you at my home with the children. Can you please take them back with Anjali? I am getting late. " Avarnika asked, and Anjali looked at her in disbelief.

Avarnika nodded at her in an assuring way, and Anjali sighed.

" Sure, Avarnika. I think I need to give an explanation to Anjali's parents too.

But I can't tell them the secret about Tej. I hope you can understand. " I explained, and she nodded.

She left, and Jay and Rudi went to my room to look at the children.

Anjali looked at me with rage, and I sighed.

" Anjali, I truly didn't mean to hurt you. No one ever disrespects me. You are the first woman who dared to talk to me like this. " I explained that I hate the most to do.

" Mr. Smith, I am not one of your loyal dogs who didn't even tell you what you did right or wrong. I think no one ever told you how to behave towards everyone. That's the reason you think of yourself as a king. But let me tell you, you may earn so much and do lots of successful surgeries. You may have many followers and have a figure like a male model. But what you lack the most are feelings and care for another person.

" She said in a calm voice, and I looked at her.

She continued, " I can see in your eyes you care that you love, like your cousins, Mrityunjay and Apoorva. You care for your best friend, Rudhvik, and you care for your siblings.

But except for those people, you don't care about other people's feelings. You have such a mouth that doesn't need a minute to hurt someone else's feelings. "

I was startled by her words. I heard a gasp.

I turned and saw Jay, who looked at Anjali with shock.

She looked at me for a minute and left to look at the children.

I looked at Jay and asked, " Am I truly like this? "

Jay shifted uncomfortably and closed the door behind him and said, " Bhai(Brother), what she said is right. After our family's death, except for us, you didn't care about other people's feelings. You made many of our employees and secretaries cry because of your harsh words. We never said anything because we know you are hurt after your family's death. " Jay said and lowered his head.

" Why didn't you tell me before? " I asked.

" How can we tell you when you are carrying such a heavy burden on your shoulders?

After our family died, you took me with you and Rudi. So, you can take care of us like our parents. You became our mother and father at the same time. Our parent secretaries took the position of our parents. So, they can handle some of our burdens. You became a shield and took all the hurdles which came toward us. You saw the worst cruelness of this world. We just wanted you to feel better with us. " Jay explained, and I hugged him immediately.

I realized why my mother told me that a person needs to check his emotions when he faces struggles in his life.
