"No, I want to stay here in my room and play Scrabble," she said to me, and even though I had not expected her to say a word to me, I knew that she was still very angry at me.
"Isabella I know you're mad at me. I know that I messed up so bad by speaking to you in the way that I did, and I'm very sorry. I didn't mean to scold you that hard. I just was going through a lot, and I could not put myself together. I'm very sorry, sweetheart," I said to her in a calm voice, hoping that she was going to look at my face, but she seemed to have all her focus on the game that was scattered all around the floor.
"I want to do this alone. I do not want to talk to you, Daddy," she said to me, and at that moment I felt a little pinch of pain.
