CHAPTER ONE:MOONLIT ORPHAN
Aria's POV
My life had been filled with pain and torture; I grew up in a place where peace and joy was a pathway to bullying and regret.
I’m Aria, born and raised in BloodMoon Pack, a pack where secrets are hidden with truth, and lies are treated like secrets, a place where betrayal was an echelon for enjoyable practices.
I remembered the night everything changed. The Blood Moon pack was once my home, my friends, and family, but everything ended when my parents died.
I cried bitterly that same night. The pain of losing one's parents was too deep to bear, especially since my parents' death was remarkable — they died under the light of the Blood Moon, and ever since then, my life didn't remain the same.
From that day onward, everything I lived for, became a thing of fight, a fight to survive, a fight to feed, a fight for freedom and even a fight to love.
I was a slave to a family I called my own, a joke to those who view me as their friends, and a curse to those who hated me.
My friend was the only one who stood by me; the one who never wanted to see me cry — Lena was my only hope and family.
“I still can't believe they are gone. I can't believe I'm left alone with pain in my heart” I sat alone, whispering to myself with my gaze fixed at the window simultaneously.
I had believed that my parents were loved by everyone, but after their demise, the pack turned their back on me.
They gossiped about me every moment, and all I had around me was fake love. I was messed up, being continually neglected by them.
They even had the guts to accuse me of murdering my parents. I was labeled a cursed child and their fingers remained pointed towards me.
I always felt the harshness of their stares, and the judgment their eyes withheld. My hopes were falling, and everyday was nightmarish to me. I sat down alone, falling into deep thoughts.
“Aria, you know that they don't trust you anymore," Lena uttered. She was one of tne few who was still relating with me.
“I know, but why? What have I done to deserve this? Am I really a cursed child?” The tone of my voice sounded shallow, "but I didn't do anything wrong."
Lena heaved a light sigh, and bobbed her head before she responded, "That doesn't matter. People need someone to blame, and you're the easiest target.”
It hurt to realize the truth, but I knew she was correct. I had no mate to stand by me, I was just a cursed loner.
The pain of being shunned by my own pack was worse than anything I could imagine.
“What are you going to do?" Lena asked, her eyes filled with concern.
I shrugged, trying to hide the tears that threatened to fall down my cheeks.
“I don't know, Lena, I ... .I just want to belong somewhere, somewhere I could look back and smile once more, somewhere I could call my home, not a prison."
“It is well, Aria. You don't have to be sad about this every moment. You will get over it, and be fine”. She swiftly interjected, patting my shoulder in comfort.
“How possible is that? It doesn't seem possible. Can't you see how my life is becoming so miserable? Can I even compare the standard of my life with yours?"
She pulled me into a warm hug, whispering to my ears, "Don't worry, Aria. I believe that one day, things will turn out for your good."
Tears rolled down my eyes since I knew that might never come to pass.
The pack had made up their minds about me. I was an outcast, cursed and unwanted. Every day was a struggle to keep going and never to give up.
“You can't remain here forever," Lena gently murmured, placing a hand on my shoulder, "perhaps it is time to leave to start your life afresh."
“Leave the pack?" I questioned, feeling shocked. "I don't think leaving the pack is a good idea. I have nowhere to go to. I better remain here."
“Can't you see for yourself? You aren't welcome here. You deserve a chance to be happy. Just find a place where you're not haunted by your past."
Her words left me in silence, contemplating in thought; well, the idea of leaving the only home that ever terrified me wasn't a bad decision since there is nothing left for me here.
I bit my lip, unsure of the right decision, “but where would I go to? Who would want someone like me?”
Lena smiled sadly. “You’d be surprised, Aria. There is a different world out there, and not everyone knows what happened in this pack. You could start over again, locate a new pack, and who knows what the future holds? You may even get to meet with your mate."
“My mate? A new pack? How possible is that?" I mumbled beneath my breath.
"When the time comes, the moon goddess will definitely connect you with a mate." She said, a grin etched across her lips.
The thought of finding a mate — someone who would love me despite everything, was too good to think of. But the seed of hope Lena planted began to grow inside of me.
“I’ll think about it,” I said, though my mind was already leaning towards the idea.
Lena gently squeezed my shoulder. “Good. You deserve happiness, Aria. Don't let anyone make you feel like you don't."
My next plan shouldn't be something revealing. I knew it would be more difficult to trust anyone again.
As I lay in bed that night, staring at the ceiling, several possibilities raced through my mind.
Would I really leave? Would I find a place where to call my home? As the moonlit streamed through the window, I arrived at a solid decision.
“Maybe it's time to go,” I whispered to the empty room. “This decision shouldn't be something of regret; the only way I could find my path is to walk towards it."
If only I could turn the hand of the clock, I would reverse the time to when my parents were still alive because I had a few corrections to make, and to figure out who was the mastermind behind the demise of my parents which had wrecked my life into havoc.
As soon as I shut my eyes, I felt like there was something terrifying waiting for me out there — something that would change everything again.
What if leaving the pack would be the beginning of a new nightmare?
