The one with HOMECOMING WEEK .
I watched the blood pool together, some parts of the stream already starting to coagulate and i burst out laughing, first a small chuckle then full on cackling, I can't believe I did it, I killed Talia Levi.
I had been following her for days after the incident, putting little drops pesticide in her latte at the shop I worked in, slowly poisoning her getting her ready for my main plan. I had followed her from school when she left early after passing out in gym, I had snuck around her huge empty house as she showered upstairs, patiently waiting for her. I savored the look of shock and fear in her eyes when she saw me, she took a few steps back and yelled "get out now or I'm calling the cops" I smirked at her and she dashed for the phone on the wall, I watched her as she slowly realized the line was dead. I got up and walked to her, she fell to her knees trembling from fear and the pesticide knocking her down, I laughed and showed her the empty bottle, "you sick b***h" she hissed at me writhing in pain, I hit her over the head with the bottle and she groaned falling to the ground "please Joan, please" she begged quietly, pissing herself like the pathetic animal she was.
I knelt before her and put the knife to her throat staring her in the eyes "Pathetic" I said as I slit her throat watching her gag and choke on her own blood. I sat in front of her watching till she stopped moving. It was all her fault, everything that had happened, she deserved this. I watched for a while longer before bringing the knife to my wrists, there was nothing left to live for so i cut deep into both wrists and lay down staring into Talia's vacant eyes reliving all that had led up to that moment.
I saw her for what she really was beneath the plastered on Colgate smile and perfect Barbie exterior, I knew how vile she could truly become and what vicious, malicious things those perfect full lips could conjure up. I knew just how evil she could be because I had seen it for myself and until recently I had no reason to act on those otherwise dormant feelings of hate, but after what she had done to me Homecoming week, just when I had thought things were finally looking up for me, she decided to pull the rug under me and send my life tumbling back into turmoil. And I wanted to make her pay.
HOMECOMING WEEK.
Homecoming week was one of the worst times at school, it got rowdy in the halls, the girls got desperate and the boys got even sweatier than usual all hyped up to get dates before the week ran out and the big dance came. I hated everything about it, but what I hated the most was that I never got asked to go.
I was a loser, a nobody, a shadow in the halls. No one ever noticed me, ever spoke to me, ever even acknowledged me in class. Talia sat in the seat in front of me, smiling and laughing with all her friends, paying compliments to teachers and cheating off nerds and everyone just loved her. she was the most popular girl in school, girls wanted to be her and the boys wanted to be with her "oh Talia is so nice" "oh Talia is so cool" "oh Talia is so pretty" "oh Talia..." "oh Talia..." "oh Talia..." And I was sick of it, I hated Talia Levi.
Mike Peck was a sweet guy, he was shy, handsome and really smart. I always sat opposite him two tables away at the library, so I could stare at him as much as I wanted without him noticing. He asked about my book one day, I had come into the library that day and was disappointed that he'd not been around, but then, as soon as I sat down in my regular seat, he pulled the chair next to me, sat and said "reading HP Lovecraft today again I see" his eyes were glued to the book avoiding eye contact and I could barely let the laugh out from the tightness in my chest. We sat together every day after that.
At lunch I went to the library eager to see Mike again, he was already at our seat waiting with his lunch, I couldn't help the big smile that cracked my face open. I walked quick and sat with him, he smiled at me saying nothing like he usually did but this time he maintained eye contact, I smiled back and unwrapped my lunch as he did the same and we ate in silence for a while. Out of nowhere he said, "Joan go to homecoming with me" I swallowed the last bit of my sandwich and stared at him, he avoided my eyes and smiled shyly at his hands, I couldn't believe someone actually wanted to go with me! I immediately said yes almost giddy with joy.
After school we walked to the parking lot together in our own bubble, one separate entity from everyone else, I was happy and from the way he smiled at me and held my hand, he was too. "Looks like Jaundice Joan has got herself a little boyfriend!" the shrill mocking voice popped our bubble and reality contaminated us, Talia hopped down from the hood of her boyfriends' truck and sashayed up to us with her ditsy friends and her boyfriend, all of them wearing mean grins. Her boyfriend was captain of the football team of course, Conrad Teal, the most popular boy in school, a match made in ditsy heaven. "leave us alone Talia" I said squeezing Mikes hand and trying to walk past them, she hopped in my way and laughed "What's the matter Joanie? Don't want to play with the popular kids?" I just stared at her fuming "I see the way you stare at us all the time you little weirdo" she spat in my face as Conrad snatched Mike away.
He stuttered panicking and Conrad laughed "what a little wuss, can't even stand up for your girlfriend" I tried to get to Mike but Talia and her minions stood in my way all laughing watching Conrad shove Mike around "Stop it!" I screamed at him pushing the girls who were holding me back. Conrad just laughed harder and punched Mike in the stomach making him double over and vomit his lunch all over Conrad's shoes, he shot back cursing "these are f*****g expensive you loser!" and stormed off to his car pouting about his shoes like a child.
Talia left me to her minions and walked over to where Mike was bent over still panting and heaving, I fought harder to get out of the surprisingly strong grip of the girls "Pathetic" she said and shoved him backwards, just then a truck came speeding from the other end of the parking lot and in a flash I saw Mike being swept off his feet by the speeding truck. He didn't stand a chance, he was a skinny boy and the truck had been moving too fast. Talia and her friends ran off screaming to wherever and I ran to him, he was dead on the spot. someone called an ambulance and the police came, I told them what had happened and because Talia had rich parents and Conrad had a lawyer father, they had gone unpunished and that was when I decided to take matters into my own hands. And now I lay beside her, my breathing slowing and my vision of her face blurring as I edged closer to death, I smiled one last time, fulfilled.
