Chapter 43 Tyler watched Ruby pretend to sleep on her bench. Her chest rose and fell steadily, but he could sense her alertness in the same way he could sense it when an animal was aware of his presence. She was hiding something. It could be the obvious thing—some plan for escape brewing in her mind—but he thought there might be more to it. He’d seen plenty of captives of all kinds—animal, people, and everything in between. Most of them seemed to think that they were the only captive to ever cook up a plan for escape.
