Ruby didn’t know that she could feel so many emotions at the same time.
He’d said yes.
And he’d kissed her. Saints above, he’d kissed her.
Her mind still reeled. She could still hear his voice, telling her that he’d go with her. That he’d help her free the captives.
She could still feel the warmth of his lips, making her own tingle with the memory.
Her grandmother’s voice cautioned her in her head. This could be a trap. He might even go as far as freeing the captives, only to betray them once he discovered where the wolfkin mansion was.
But Gran had also told Ruby that you had to trust your instincts. Because in both life and in battle, it was far better to go through it with people who would watch your back. The first step to that was figuring out who to trust.
