Chapter 15
On the first day, the group decided on the setup and location of everyone and every piece of equipment. Ruby’s job seemed to be just to walk down the path over and over again while the hunters set up.
Of course, once they were done setting up, Ruby had to fight.
Luckily, this was a mock-up of a fight. The assistants pretended to be monsters and attacked Ruby as slowly as they could. While they fought in slow motion, the Huntsman orchestrated his men. He told them when and where to shoot, what his signals would be, when to jump out into the open.
The mock fight was not frightening, but it was exhausting. Ruby didn’t realize how tiring it could be to hold an unbalanced position over and over again. She felt like an actress practicing a play for Market Day.
