Elara lost everything in one day, her job, her reputation, and the man she thought loved her. Betrayed by her boyfriend and her senior at work, she was framed, fired, and humiliated in front of the entire company.

When her ex arrogantly told her she would never move on, she did the one thing she didn’t plan to do.

She kissed a stranger.

What she didn’t know was that the stranger was the founder’s son, and her future boss, Harrison Hayes, who had vowed not to let her be after the kiss.

Forced back into the company she was betrayed by, Elara decided to revenge her ex-boyfriend, but finds herself trapped between powerful enemies, and a man she shouldn’t want but can’t resist.

How would she manage her growing attraction for her boss and also get her revenge?

Chapter 1
Elara You must be wondering why I am standing at a lobby with both arms clenched at my side, fuming in anger as I stared at the fair, tall, handsome guy who was surrounded with different beautiful ladies with curvy shapes. Well, that’s my boyfriend, Jacob Adams. The notorious playboy of Jamal enterprise Inc! He is known for his ability to charm any girl in seconds, perhaps because of how well he dresses, how smoothly he talks, and the way he winks at them, but no one knew that Jacob wasn’t the perfect golden boy everyone believed him to be, he was a jerk who lied about everything including loving me. “Jacob!” I yelled his name as I stormed over to where he stood. He turned and before he could say one of those smooth words I had fallen for, I smacked him across the face making everyone gasp in shock. “You asshole!” I spat. He held his sore cheek and blinked. “Baby, why would you---” “Let’s break up!” I cut him off, if I hear one more of those cute names he calls me, I might puke. “What?” His brows creased and he slowly reached out to touch me. “Baby, I…” I pushed his hand away. “Call me baby one more time and I will make sure you regret it!” I said between clenched jaws. “I don’t want to see you anymore. I don’t want to talk to you, and I f*****g don’t want to hear my name from your lips, just walk past me whenever we cross path.” I turned around to leave before he could respond, tears threatening to roll down my cheek, but he caught my wrist before I could take a step forward. “I don’t understand Elara, tell me why you are doing this, tell me why you want to suddenly break up with me.” He stared cutely at me, but now I was irritated by it. “I am confused, why are you angry?” He searched my eyes. My lower lips quivered in anger. Jacob is someone I loved since college, and we finally wind up working at the same company, but what I learnt today, what my fate would be after this day, was something I never imagined would be because of him. Love was really just a waste of time! It wasn’t worth all the effort everyone put into it. It was to belong, to feel superior and special, to chase the loneliness away, to keep their desires in check, or just to ejaculate it off. I wasn’t wrong, it truly was just a waste of emotions and I can’t afford the heart break and the pain that comes after it. “Let go of me!” I tried to pull my hand from his, but he tightened his grip. “You love me, Elara.” His voice deepened, his gaze locked mine in confidence. “Everyone knows it.” Then he chuckled softly, and glanced around at the bystanders staring at us. “We can’t keep having this cycle, one moment you want to break up with me, and the next moment you want me, let’s just settle this now, you and I know you can’t leave me.” I scoffed at his boldness. Jacob has always been cocky. An egoistic jerk who thinks the world revolves around him, well, I thought I was special since out of the girls he flirted with, I am the one he announces as his girlfriend, but now it was a curse. I stared into his eyes. “You truly are coldhearted.” I sniffled. How can he act like he doesn’t know what he has just done to my career? “Elara, come on, stop this now…” “I said let go!” I stomped on his feet and he groaned in pain, releasing my hand. “f**k, Elara, goddamn it!” Jacob cursed out loud. Without hesitation, I turned to leave, but just then, I spotted a man dressed in navy suit walking in through the entrance. He wasn’t a colleague, it was the first time seeing him, and it doesn’t look like he works at this company. Perhaps he just dropped by to talk business. Without a second thought, I strolled over to him. “I am sorry Mr., but I would love to borrow you lips.” I said softly to him. He blinked in confusion. “W---” before he could finish his sentence, I pulled him by the collar, rising to my tiptoe, I pressed my lips against his, squeezing my eyes shut. Let them watch, all of them, everyone who heard Jacob say I can’t leave him, let them all see how well I can do that without a flinch. “Hey! Get off her!” Jacob rushed over to us and pulled us apart. “Elara, what the f**k are you doing?!” His eyes were aflame, he turned to the man. “How dare you kiss my girlfriend?” He pointed. “Ex-girlfriend,” I corrected him. “We broke up remember?” He clenched his jaw. I could see the tears clustering in his eyes. Why is he--- I stopped myself before I start feeling sorry for him, he always plays the guilt card, not this time, I won’t let my heart bleed this time for him. He ran his hand through his hair. “You know, I shouldn’t have looked twice at you.” He said. “All you have is just a pretty face, and a dark heart.” He stabbed his fingers and I jerked back, keeping a distance between us. He looks pissed for someone who had cheated on me with my senior, and stolen my work claiming it to be his. No, Elara, this is typical Jacob, don’t fall for it! My inner goddess screamed at me. He sucked his breath. ”Just so you know, I am the one dumping you, don’t you dare go around telling everyone you dumped me, okay?!” He said coldly, glancing once more at the man I had just kissed. He groaned, turned once more to me and cursed under his breath. “Bit*h!” With that he stormed out. I chuckled humorlessly, grabbing a lock of my curly hair as I watched Jacob disappear down the hallway. I scoffed, wiping the tears that rolled down my cheek with the tip of my finger. I stared down at my tears and clenched my jaw. “You should be the one pissed. Elara, don’t cry for a guy who just cheated on you and got you fired.” I sniffled. “That asshole, jerk face… son of a---” The words caught in my throat when I finally met the gaze of the man standing in front of me. His brows snapped together. “Did you just use me to get rid of your boyfriend?” He asked. Damn it, I almost forgot about him.
