Chapter 3: A friend in need a friend indeed

In an instant Amy got angry.  Everyone knows how much she hates reading. So, she never secured a decent grade while Genny and Patty always secured A+ grade. They were always toppers. But how dare Patty insulted her in front of all. She frowned.  

Patty smiled and continued “Green carpet challenge is a movement to balance glamour with sustainable development. Every year rich people and people from glamour industry around the world bought so many clothing, footwear, jewelleries and various accessories which they use only once. This creates huge amount of waste which is a burden to the earth. So, green carpet challenge is an initiative to promote reuse of these clothing, footwear and other accessories. Many celebrities and influential people around the globe are promoting this event by repeating their cloths and urging people to do the same.”  

“As a student of Environmental Management if Genny promote this by repeating her dress do you think it’s wrong? We all know Charity beings at home.” Patty refuted.

Amy "Well if this is so great event then why you're not doing it. I can see that you're wearing a brand-new designer dress."

Well, Patricia was wearing a sunflower coloured princess dress with matching ornaments. Her tawny hair was tied up in an elegant bun. Genny must say she was looking like a princess.

Patty smiled and told Amy “You know not everyone can be a responsible human like Genny. I couldn’t resist buying this dress. And as I already bought it so I wore it."

 Then she turned towards Genny and continued "I am sorry but I promise you Genny next time I’ll be with you in this initiative. And I also request all of you to join this initiative in near future.”   With that Patty concluded.

The people who were criticizing Genny were now in dilemma. They neither appreciated Genny nor criticised her. They couldn't appreciate her because if they did, they have to wear old clothes, which they didn’t want to do. But they couldn't criticise her because they didn't want to upset Patricia. Who dared to disagree with Patricia Williams openly and take a wrath of Williams?

Amy and Cath were so angry with Patty. They leaved the spot while Patra was very thankful for saving her face and so do Genny. Genny whispered to Patty “Thank you.”

Patty hold Genny's hand and took her towards her parents. Lord and Lady Williams enthusiastically greeted Genny. But Genny gave them a clumsy smile because of her awkwardness.

Patty noticed that. She took Genny to a corner and asked her “Why are you looking like this? I know you don’t want to take help from Amy or your mom but why didn’t you ask me?” Why are you wearing specs? Oh, you're so deliberate."

Genny frowned hearing that. She was about to say something but Patty refuted with mock anger “Don’t try to convince me that you can't see without specs."Genny remained silent.

Patty told her “Take me to the rest room now.” Genny took Patty to rest room.

Patty took Genny in front of a mirror. Confused Genny asked her “What are you doing?” Patty “Shut up and stand still. I’m doing your make over.” And she took off Genny's specs.

With that she started untying Genny’s hair quickly and then she started braiding a stylish braid. After Patty finished braiding Genny took a look and she was so mesmerised. “How did you do that? How could you be so good in everything? That’s amazing Patty.”  

 Patty smiled “Didn’t I ask you to shut up and stand still?” With that note she opened her clutch and took a mascara bottle and applied it on Genny’s thick black eyelashes which instantly popped up Genny’s beautiful doe eyes which were covered under the huge specs. Then she applied little of amount peach blush on Genny’s cheeks, and some coral lip colour on her brown lips to give the lips a warm look.

And then she turned Genny to face the mirror. To Genny’s surprise with that little changes Genny turned into a beautiful demure.

Patty “why are you wearing this blue dress again? You seemed to love this dress.”  

 Genny happily replied “Of course it’s my favourite dress. I love this deep blue colour. It’s my favourite colour.”  

“I see. Deep blue is your favourite colure!!!” Patty said sarcastically. Genny frowned.

“Oh! In connection to deep blue I just remember my brother is coming back to the city.” Patty added

Genny “He should be. Isn’t your birthday on next month? He shouldn’t miss your birthday. Patty you are also turning 22 next in month. He must be planning to give you a big party."

"Not bad you seemed to understand him pretty well" Patty said with a mockery "So someone is eagerly waiting for my brother's return."

"Yes of course Catherine is eagerly waiting for your brother's return." Genny replied angrily. And then she left the rest room.

Patty followed and asked her "Why do you hate my brother so much?"

Genny angrily replied while continuing walking through the corridor "Why don't you ask this question to your brother?"

"Genny" Patty said softly while walking alongside her. Genny stopped walking and so do Patty.

Then she turned to face Patty and told her "Patty you're my only friend and I love you so much but if you continue talking about your brother, I am not going to talk to you anymore."

"Okay okay I understand. Now let's go to the party." Patty

When they entered the party, everybody started staring towards them. Everyone was a bit stunned to see the changes in Genny. She was looking adorable.

Basically, Genny was not an ugly girl. Though she was not as beautiful and attractive as her mother but her features were quite exotic and this made her stand out from the crowd. She had wheatish skin tone with jade black smooth hair. Her big beautiful doe eyes had bright black pupils which reflect the innocence and purity of her soul.  For some reason she deliberately wears specs and awful clothes to disguise her charm.

But now people were astonished after seeing her like this. Moreover, some of the boys were admiring her. Even Cynthia, Sicilia, Catherine and Amy were also stunned.

Of course, Patra was very happy to see her daughter like this. Noticing the change behaviour of everyone Genny asked Patty "What if someone asks me for dance?"

 "Say no to them if you're not interested." Patty

"Of course, I am not interested. But don't you think it'll be rude" Genny

"Just stay with me I'll manage."  Patty
