Once Noah arrived to make sure that Avery didn’t do anything else stupid, I found Harper in her room. I knew she was in there, I could smell her, but I didn’t open the door no matter how badly I wanted to. I forced myself to slow down and take a deep breath before lightly knocking on the door. Harper answered, and she’s visibly more upset than when she was facing off with Avery. She was trying so hard to be strong and now it was all catching up to her. It wasn’t that Harper was weak. No, I would never think that. Being soft and vulnerable no matter how many shitty things happen to you is a sign of strength that most people don’t have. I wanted to open my arms to her, but I was sure that she wouldn’t take it after everything that had happened between us, at least, not without us talking
