Really Artemis!

“Get up!” He scolds me

I’m weak and tired. My body can’t take anymore of this. I look up at the big blob I front of me hating my life right now. This has been going on for hours already and I’m losing bad.

“I said get up!” My uncle Lucas yells at me

Barely getting up I stand with shaking legs and I lunge at the blob standing I front of me. I get a couple of hits in when I get punched in the stomach knocking the wind out of me. I’m bleeding from my lip, I know my ribs are broken and I’m covered in bruises by now.

“Hey baby girl. Let me help you up.”

“Let her be Xavier she needs to learn how to rely on her sense to get through it.”

“Hey baby girl go clean up and get some food in your system. Mrs. Abigail please help her inside and get her the bath tube ready.”

“Yes Gamma Xavier. Come on my dear let’s go”

“No I don’t need help I can do it on my own.” I grit threw my teeth

“Ok baby girl. Go clean yourself off and make sure you soak a little ok. It will help with the muscle pain.”

“Xavier her training isn’t over yet. Your not going anywhere young lady.”

“Yes it is. Look at her Lucas she’s tired you have been training for hours already. It’s time for her to go rest.”

“No she needs to learn Xavier! Besides last time I checked I out rank you and I’m in charge of her training lessons during the week”

“Learn what Lucas? What do you want her to learn? She learned her lesson. But she’s also a child. A child who has done for you than you know. You might out rank me but right now my duty is to her not to you! Go inside baby girl it’s ok.”

I make my way to the house holding my stomach. My body is ready to go limp on me. It’s hard to walk but I can’t show weakness. Walking into the house I can smell food and it makes me really nauseous.

“Sweet heart you ok?” I hear my tia Lisa ask me as she exams my face closely. I must really look beaten because she never asks me that after training.

“Yea I’m fine. I’m going to go shower” I saw walking away from her.

The struggle to get up the stairs and to my room is so real. I’m using one hand to pull myself up the steps while holding my stomach with the other. After what seemed like an eternity I finally make it to my room. I take off my cloths and hop into the shower. I left the hot water hit my muscles and it’s help sooth them. I can hear my uncles arguing outside about me. I’m in my own head so much that I can get myself out of it. I sit in the bath tub with my back to the water and let it all out. Once I’m able to somewhat control my emotions I decide to get the shower and change into my pjs.

I slowly make my way to my bed slowly to make sure I don’t hit myself on anything and climb in under the covers. I cover my whole body including my face and it’s getting harder to breath under it but dyeing at this point.

Finally after some time I can start to feel myself drift away. My body is finally at ease and resting. That’s when I hear someone come into my room.

“Baby girl you asleep?”

I don’t reply to my uncle Xavier hoping he would just assume I was sleep and leave me alone to my own misery. But that wouldn’t be my uncle Xavier. He treats me the same way he treats Alice as a daughter. I know him seeing me on the floor covered in mud and blood made the dad in come out. I feel the side of my bed dip from his body weight.

“Baby girl why are you covering your face? You can suffocate that way.”

Maybe that’s what I wanted feel down. Maybe I did want to suffocate.

“There you go now you can breath. Ooh baby girl you’ve been crying again. Ugh I’m really going to kick Lucas’s a*s now. What’s wrong baby girl. I need you to talk to me please. This isn’t you. Please I want to understand what’s going on. But if you don’t want to talk that’s ok too I understand just please be careful. I don’t know what I would do if I’d lost you as a child. Ok I know your sleeping and probably not hearing any of this but I love being your dad or at least of them. Now I’ll let you continue sleeping my dear. You have sweet dreams baby girl I’ll see you in the morning.” With that he kisses my head and walks out.

He loves me as his own! I hear faint thuds and things crashing but I don’t have the energy to get up. I recover my face and cry myself to sleep.

Ugh why! Why do I have to go to school today! I roll over to turn off my alarm and I have aches and pains everywhere. Why is the room so dark? Ooh duh my eyes are still closed. Man I’m reaally out of it today; great!

Wait my eyes are open. What the hell. Ok Crystal breath! Ok let’s see if we can feel our eyes blinking. Yea they are blinking. s**t I can’t see I can’t seee.

“Ahhhhhhhhhhhh” I let out a painful scream.

My door burst open with my uncle Xavier coming right in.

“Baby girl you ok? What happened.”

“I um hit my toe on my dresser. Sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.” I say trying really hard not to lose it

“Ooh it’s ok. Do you want me to take a look?”

“NO! I mean no it’s ok I’m fine. I need to get ready for school.”

“Um ok then. I’ll let you change.”

“Uncle Xavier”

“Yea baby girl?”

“Can you have Ms. Abigail come to my room please.”

“Sure thing. Now hurry so you can get some food in before school.” With that he walks out

Me: ARTEMIS!!! What did you do???

Artemis: I told you to fed me what I want! You don’t give me what I want; I take things you need away from you.

Me: Really Artemis my sight! Your took my sight. Couldn’t you have taken a kidney or something but my eye sight!

Artemis: I’ll give it back the moment you give me what I want

*****Knock Knock*******

“Ooh sorry Miss. Crystal I didn’t mean to startle you.”

“It’s ok Ms. Abigail.”

“Gamma Xavier said you needed my services. How can I help?”

“I need help picking out my cloths for school.”

“Do you mind picking them out for me with a pair of shoes? And do you know what the weather is going to be like today.”

“Ummm sure. And it’s sunny but semi cloudy.” She says confused.

“Ok thank you. Im going to shower, can lay my cloths in my bed for me please. And do you mind doing this every morning for me.”

“Queen are you ok?”

“Yea I’m just really tired and I don’t have the energy to pick my cloths out. So would you mind doing it for me please?”

This can’t be happening to me. I can’t believe she took my sight from home.

“Sure thing Miss. whatever you need.”

I can’t believe she took my eye sight. Out of all the things she could of taken she chooses my sight. Like why?! Why my sight.

After my shower I put on my cloths that Ms. Abigail picked out for me. I’m struggling so much just to get to the stair case. I’m bumping into every single thing! Finally making my way down the stairs I feel my way into the kitchen. Smelling the home made breakfast I knew I was close by so I straighten up my back, held my head up high and acted like I was fine.

“Good morning baby girl.”

“Morning”

“Hi sweetie. Come here let me take a quick look.”

Shit!!! She was to take a look at me. Ugh I’m I got this I totally got this. Come on Crystal use your senses. Follow your hearing and smell. What does my tia smell like? Lavender she smells like lavender! Ok follow the lavender!

“Ooh dear look at your pretty face. No wonder they went at it last night.”

“Ouch”

“Just a little but I’ll be ok tia Lisa”

“Dang what happened to you.” Max says walking into the kitchen

“Hey mama’s how did you sleep?” Sam says giving me a big hug. I wish I could see their faces again.

“Let me see your stomach! Lift.”

“Tia Lisa I’m fine. I need to go or I’ll be late.”

“Your not going anywhere until the doctor takes a look at you baby girl.”

“She said she’s fine. She’s a fighter let her be!” I hear my uncle Lucas

“Lucas get over here now!”

“Do you think this is fine. Look at her. What has gotten into you. She’s a child!”

“She is training. she won’t have us all the time to protect her.”

“Lucas shes a child!” My tia snarls threw her teeth

“Tia I’m fine I promise. My uncle is right. I need to do better and I will.”

“Good now go before your late. You know your father hated you being late to school.”

“Yes sir.”

“NO! She’s going to the doctor first Lucas. I’m not discussing this with you.” Uncle Xavier snarls

Last nights fight must of been really bad if my aunts are hold back my uncles. I need to stop this before someone gets hurt.

“Uncle Lucas. It’s ok. I’ll go to the doctors office and I’ll go straight to school right after then I’ll come right home and we can do some more training.” I say hold my uncles hand

“Fine but don’t be late or princess.”

I have my uncle Xavier walk me to the doctor’s office calm him down. He really is just trying to help and Iv never seen both of my uncles go at it like this before. I really must look bad.

“Ok so just as I expected Miss Crystal. You have a broken a couple of broken ribs with a minor concussion. You need to take it easy in training.”

“Ok doc. Thanks for letting me know can I go now please.”

“Have you been eating?”

“Um yea. Why?”

“No reason.”

“Uncle Xavier are we done I really need to get to school.”

“Yea baby girl just wait outside for me for a sec ok.”

“Mmm hm”

Ok now to make my way out the room. Remember Crystal remember. You have been in this exam room millions of times you know your way around.

“Ouch”

“You ok baby girl.”

“Yeaa just wanted to make sure the door is sturdy. It is.” I say hitting the door with my hand

I’m so stupid! Did I really just say I was making sure the door is sturdy. Ugh! I meant face palm myself.

“Ok ready to go?”

“Yupp” I say popping my p’s

I take my uncles arm and let him guide me to the car without being so obvious that I can’t see. We drive in silence for a couple of minutes and right now I’m trying to figure out what time it is so I can go to the right class.

“Your done with training until further notice ok.”

“Huh”

“I said your done with training until further notice ok baby girl.”

“Why? What did I do? I’ll do better I promise uncle X”

“You did nothing baby girl nothing at all. Your body needs a break.” He starts to explain

“But I told uncle Lucas I’ll train after school. He’s going to be so mad at me.”

“Hey don’t cry baby girl I’ll deal with Lucas. You focus on being a teenager. Ok.”

“Mmmh” I nod.

I figured we had gotten to school because the engine was turned off and I head a door open and close. Ok soooooo what time is it exactly? I have my uncle Xavier walk me into the school office so he can hand them my doctor’s note and make sure they know I can’t do any serious physical activity until further notice.

I’m handed my hall pass luckily the office lady was nice enough to wish me luck I’m 4th period. I give my uncle a kiss on the cheek and wish him a good day. God this is going to be hard. There’s so many people at school hopefully I don’t bump into anyone; that would be embarrassing or going into the wrong room would be embarrassing. God this is realllyyyy going to suck.

Ok breath you got this, we’ll maybe, yeaaa there’s no way I got this. Here we go let the embarrassment begin.

“Little one?”

“s**t wrong class.” I say really low

“What are you doing here? Aren’t you suppose to be in class with AJ?” Mikey asks me confused.

“Oooh yea. Sorry I got the wrong class. I’m I’m gonna go bye.” I say running out.

“s**t where is my class? Ok breath I got this. Mikey’s class is 3 doors away from mine. Maybe twice is the charm.”

“Hey pumpkin. What’s up. I didn’t know you were in this class.”

“s**t! Again.”

“Hey you ok?”

“Yea. I just got the wrong class. Bye.”

Ok maybe their time is the charm. Here we go. Lucky door number three.

“Look who decided to finally join us. Miss. Gonzalez thank you for gracing the rest of us with your presence please take your seat.”

Yes I got the right class but s**t I’m late. How am I late? I literally had enough time to get to class. There’s no way I was lost for almost 40 minutes!

I’m really struggling to pay attention. The teacher is going to fast in order for me to comprehend it. I can’t even read my own notes because I can’t SEE! Next thing I know the bell rings and class is over. This isn’t good. Ugh I need to figure out a way to keep my grades up threw this.

Ok let’s see what’s next. I have fifth period which is lunch. I need to get my work that I missed first so let’s see if I can get around to my first three classes to get my school work. I just need to remember my schools layout.

“Hey watch where your going Gonzalez!”

“Sorry. I didn’t mean too. I didn’t see you there”

“Obviously!!! Your so pathetic Gonzalez. First you try and steal AJ from me now you purposely bump into me. Get out of my sight and out of my space. Your stealing my precious air. Go back to that pathetic hole you crawled out of! I can promise you no one will miss you.”

Diana is such a b***h. I literally can’t watch where I’m walking because I’m f*****g blind! I’m f*****g blind and no body knows. I make my way to the track outside and hide under the bleachers. I can’t I can’t I can’t do this. First uncle Lucas and uncle Xavier going at it because of me, now I can’t get around my own school or do my school work because I’m f*****g blind and to top it off Diana just let me have it.

I decided to skip the rest of my classes and stay under the bleachers until the final bell rang. My phone has been non stop buzzing and my head is pounding from everyone trying to mind link me.

I walk it to the parking lot or at least what I think is the parking lot and I can feel people staring at me. They probably think I’m a freak. I start rubbing my arms because I can’t take this and I just want to go home.

“s**t. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to bump into too. I’m so sorry.”

“Derek? What are you doing here?”

“I came to give you these. You left them at my place yesterday.”

“Oh my good my glasses. Thank you” I say giving him a big hug.

“There we go.” He said putting them on for me.

“Thank you. But you didn’t have too come all this way to drop them off.”

“It’s ok. Come on get in I’m taking you home today.”

“Oh no I’m ok. I can walk.”

“Right! The next thing we need is you running into another tree and your uncles unleashing hell because of it. Now come on get in.”

He has a point.

“Fine but you take me straight home got it.” With one hand in my hip

We are on our way home and we start talking about nothing. I ask him about his car and ask him what made him get red. I mean it’s a nice car from the little I was able to see but I’m more of a truck type of girl.

He sounds so surprised that I know about cars. It’s like he hasn’t had an intelligent car conversation before with someone.

We arrive at my house I already feel the tension. I really don’t want to go in.

“Thank you for bringing me home”

“Well it’s the least I could do after yesterday. Call it even?”

“Yea even”

“You ok?”

“Yea. It’s been a long day.”

“Look I did want to talk to you though.”

“Hmmphm. Look I don’t know how to tell you but hear me out.”

“Cut to the chase. What’s up? Everything ok?”

“Yea just be careful with Jereme. I know we’re cousins but there’s reasons as to why our families don’t interact. He’s not to be trusted.”

With that my door opens and I’m being greeted by a overly excited Sam.

“Mama’s your home.”

“Yea babe. Wooow there someone’s in a good mood.”

“Crystal promise me you’ll be careful.”

“Hi nice to meet you Alpha. What is talking about sis?”

“Ooh mama’s the school called and uncle Lucas is really angry.”

This this I actually really did face palm myself and hard.

With that I walk away and brace myself for the three hour lecture coming my way. I slowly make my way to my uncle Lucas office and hear him arguing with my uncle Xavier. This is bad really bad. I’m scared of coming in so I just listen in.

“Xavier don’t you think I know there’s something wrong with her. I’m raising her as well just like you.”

“Then cut her a break Lucas. She’s literally breaking in front of you and taking your punches without complaining. She’s a child Lucas. She’s a 15 year old child who is doing her best to please everyone. Cut her a break.”

“If her father was here do you think she would like this. No she wouldn’t. She would do as she’s told when she’s told. I mean you heard what the school said. She missed 6 periods 6 Xavier. And that’s that you took her to school. Maybe it’s time to….”

“No over my dead f*****g body Lucas. She’s a good girl and one hell of a fighter. Your right her father isn’t here and do you remember the fear he put into her!?! If I remember correctly you use to stand up for her when you saw it was too much.”

“What the f**k is that suppose to mean. I still stand up for her.”

“Right that’s why your pushing her to breaking point. Have you gone into her room after she’s done training with you because I have. And what I saw last night was a little girl broken and still putting on a happy face for everyone including you! Your not taking her with the elves! Iv supported you in everything but this, this is something I will not support you in and your going to have to kill me in order to take her to the elves.”

The door burst open and I’m hit with my uncle Xavier’s scent and I’m in a full blown out cry. He wants to ship me away.

“Baby girl wait. Great Lucas!”

“Princess wait please.”

“Baby girl please wait let us explain”

I run down the stairs tripping on a couple of steps making me fall completely. I leave my book bag on the floor and I dart for the back door. I couldn’t hold back anymore. Everything Iv been feel the last couple of days is coming out and there no stoping it.

Me: Kill as many animals as you want just non of our own and no people period

Artemis: No

Me: Look I know you need to come out! This is your last chance take or leave it

Artemis: Fine.

Me: No people Artemis I mean it!

Artemis: I said fine!

I let her take over! I couldn’t hold back anymore. She ran like our life depended on it.

Artemis: Want to go anywhere specific?

Me: Just get me out of here please.

Artemis: Ok just close your eyes and breath I got you.

I missed her. I missed Artemis so much. It’s true no body wants me. My ex pack members are right. I should be killed im nothing but a waste of space. This is all too much. I open my eyes and I’m at a beautiful waterfall Iv ever seen. Im able to see it threw Artemis’s eyes and it’s so pretty. I convince Artemis to take a swim and I let her hunt as much as she wants.

I don’t want to go back. They don’t need me. Everyone is better off without me. I’m nothing but a disappointment and a disgrace to the family name. Artemis finds a cave hiding behind the waterfall and we spend the night there. When will I go back I don’t know but right now I need to be alone.
