“Let’s go little one we are going to be late for our first day!”

“Oh my god where is she?”

“Ooh well if we don’t leave now we will all be late”

“We can’t leave her Mikey!”

“ I know, but maybe if we pretend to leave she will hurry up!”

I’m sitting on top of Mikey’s car hearing him complaining about me being late. Little does he know I’m already outside. Waiting to see their faces.

I see my brothers come out first with Alice right behind them when they all come to a complete stop. Just as I thought their faces were priceless. If their jaws could of touched the floor they all would have.

“It’s about time you guys are ready to go.” I say jumping off the hood of Mikey’s car.

AJ was the first to greet me good morning and everyone else followed. They have been following his lead a little more now a days, it’s kind of cute. We all say our good byes to my uncles, my aunts and my grandma blesses us so we have a good day.

We all split up into Lu’s and Mikey’s trucks. I go into Lu’s truck, take my out my Ray Ban’s to block the sun and we are on our way to school in no time. To be totally honest I’m feeling myself a little today. I mean I didn’t do anything extreme, all I have on are some Jean shorts with some black and white vans, a flannel wrapped around my waist and with a white tank top. My hair is in a half bun half down hairstyle. The bun is a little messy but not too bad. I don’t have any makeup on but my skin is glowing and I put on some cherry chapstick which made my lips a little redder than what they usually are but they still look natural.

We pull up to the school parking lot with the music blasting. The guys like the attention they get but I on the other hand can be ok without it. The song playing is a good hype song though. I have no idea what’s wrong with me today! I’m not usually like this and I like it.

Artemis: This will be our year princess. Embrace your title embrace your worth. Don’t fight it. Show everyone who you are!

Me: I’ll try but no promises

Artemis: You will be fine I’m with you every step of the way.

Me: Thanks Artemis. Love you.

Artemis: Love you too. Now go kick some butt and make me proud!

Mikey and Lu always park right next to each other just in case of anything. Everyone hops out of the trucks and wait for me to get out. I on the other hand wait for my door to be opened. I’m not allowed to open my own car door one of the guys always opens it for me it’s been like that since we were all little. Lu walks around the truck to open my door and as soon as I jump out of the truck, all eyes were on the group but this was different.

“Whooh sis you look good today”

“Thanks. Wait hey are you saying I don’t look good everyday?!”

“That’s not what I meant. You look different but a good different.”

“Mmmhm”

“Who did your hair?”

“I did.”

“What no way. It’s really good your doing mine tomorrow. And who did your makeup?”

“Ummm let’s see if I wake up on time, and I don’t have any on.”

“No way let me see, take your sunglasses off.”

I take my sunglasses off putting them on my head so Alice can analyze me and she looks so amused and stunned. While Alice is analyzing my face I spot Diana coming with her minions. I tell Alice that she can finish analyzing my face during lunch but we had to start going inside. With that we all start heading inside and I feel eyes on us more than usual. I think the guys sense it too because Lu puts his arm around me with everyone else around me as if they are guarding me.

“They are looking at you.”

“What no. I don’t know what your talking about Alice.”

“Right. And you didn’t sense the guys getting over protective either.” Alice says locking her arm around mine.

We all walk it to Alice’s locker first before we go our separate ways. Alice tags along with Dave since they have first period together. I on the other hand argue with the guys to let me walk to my locker by myself. It was a battle to say the least but they finally gave in. I walk away from the guys putting in my air pods on full blast. Focusing on the music helps me not focus on everyone staring at me like they have never seen a girl before. Like why are the she-wolves and she-lycans mean mugging me for, they honestly forgot who I am. To their defense most of them don’t know who I am. And does it smell more like l**t and teenage hormones or is it just me?

Finally making it to my locker I put my air pods away unlocking my locker. I put my gym bag in my locker then I start to pull out my books for my first 4 periods. Let’s see I have Chem, Geometry, English and History.

“Hey Crystal”

I look at the figure next to me all confused since no body ever talked to me at my locker beside my usual group.

“Hey Jereme” I say with a lifted eyebrow going back to getting all my books and supplies for class. I mean this is Jereme Hayes, the infamous quarterback of the football team and a complete playboy and one of the best warriors that we have. If he changes his underwear the same amount of times he changes girlfriends then he would run out of underwear before the end of the week.

“How was your summer?”

“It was good. What’s up?”

“Nothing I just wanted to talk to you and you know catch up.”

“Right.” I say sarcastically

“So what were you listening to?”

“Her name is Rosa……”

I stop mid sentence when I hear a couple of growls and it was 3 growls to be exact.

“What do you want Hayes?!” Mikey says irritated.

“What’s up Stalynski.” Jereme says smirking

“I said what do you want”

“What can’t I have a conversation?” Jereme say’s cockily

“Not with her!” Mikey says sternly

“Back off Haynes! I mean it” AJ says pissed off. I’ve never seen him this pissed off.

“Hey what’s up Hendrix. I almost didn’t see you there. I think Diana is looking for you.” Jereme retorted

Hearing that comment pissed me off to the point of slamming my locker. All four of the guys look at me dumbfounded since it’s not like me to do things like that. I look at AJ pissed off and walk away from the whole situation. I mean Diana is a w***e who isn’t good for anything but laying in her back.

Walking into my first period I take a seat in the middle row with Mikey hot on my tail taking the seat next to me.I cut my mind links because I don’t want to hear it. It’s a new school year and I’m over the petty drama. Mikey knows I’m pissed and he does everything he can to make me laugh. I given in after a couple of tic tac toe games and him putting his arm around me also helped relax me.

First period flew by to be honest now on to the next. Mikey walks me to my second period. I tell him I can walk myself but he insists so I figured sure why not. We are walking to second period with his arm around my waist and everyone is staring. This is getting weird.

We make it to second period a couple of minutes before the one minute bell. He sees Lu and they act like they didn’t just see each other a hour ago.

“You got her Lu?”

“Are you seriously asking me that?”

“I’m just saying she’s precious cargo” Mikey says smirking

“Um hellooo!!! You guys do realize I can handle myself right?” I say looking at both of them with one hand on my hip.

“We know you can little one” Mikey says pulling me in for a big hug and kisses my forehead.

With that he goes off to his class and it’s Lu’s turn to engulf me in a hug and like usual he places his head in the crook of my neck inhaling my scent. I love their hugs. They use the right of strength and tenderness all in one.

Lu walks me into geometry class holding my hand; we walk towards the middle row where we take our seats. It’s non stop stares this morning and it’s starting to make uncomfortable.

The next couple of periods fly by and I’m starving. I speed walk to my locker to but my books back and grab my gym bag so I have it after lunch. Walking into the cafeteria I hear the DJ playing and the mix isn’t bad to be honest. The Principal was convinced that a DJ will help hype us up for the school year. Our cafeteria is like your average high school. We have the jocks and cheerleaders in one corner, the geeks in the other, and everyone else just sits where’s there’s a spot. Since the boys are in the varsity team for football thanks to their speed and Alice is on the JV Poms team we usually all just sit together. We get the usual s**t come and try to sit with us but it doesn’t go far.

I go to our usual table and see Alice already moving to the rhythm. I walk up to our group and I’m engulfed in hugs and kisses until Mickey hears my stomach. I get in line to get my lunch and greet the lunch ladies like how I usually do. We were having a great time until the w***e of the west showed up!

“Hey boys”

“What do you want Diana?” Alice says annoyed

“Hey Alice. Have you been able to get the back flips down yet?” Diana says in a bitchy tone

“Don’t worry about me just try not to break your nose on the field again!” Alice retorted

We all started laughing until Diana wrapped her arms around AJ and her flock of minions came to our table and did the same thing to Lu and Mikey. You can see the boys getting irritated and I hate seeing them like that. Alice is ready to pounce them but I grab her arm and tell her to relax.

“Hey baby why don’t you go dance with me.” Diana says to AJ

“First of all I’m not your baby. Second of all I’m not interested Diana.”

“Awww come on it’s just one dance. You know you want too” she says in her seductive voice.

“Yea come on Lu why don’t you come dance too I’ll show you a couple of my moves” Monica says

At this point I start laughing at the three girls getting absolutely no where with my boys.

“What so funny Gonzalez?” Diana says pissed off

“The fact the three of you are here basically on your knees begging for attention when clearly they aren’t falling for you w****s!”

Shit did I say that out loud! It looks like I did and I think everyone heard what I said because the cafeteria got really quiet and people started looking towards our table. And the dumbfounded look on Alice and the guys face means that I did say it. Well no turning back now.

“What did you just say nerd?”

“You heard me. Your a she-wolf with pretty good hearing and if you didn’t hear me then that means you need to be checked for something more than clams” I retorted back

Everyone at this point started laughing so hard I think they were having trouble breathing. Diana’s face was red as a tomato and I on the other hand was very confused on what was going on with me and why I was talking back to the queen of w****s.

“You stupid b***h! Your going to pay for that!” She said lounging at me

“That’s enough Diana!”

“Let me go AJ. I’m going to make you regret those words Gonzalez!” Diana says screaming off the top of her lungs

“First of all AJ you can let her go it’s ok. Second of all don’t ever confuse me for your self, I don’t have to lay on my back to get a guy. And thirdly this conversation is getting very stupid and irritating so if you excuse me my best friend and I have some fun to part take in!” I said walking away from her. I have no idea what got into me but I like it. I can see her following me to the middle of the lunch room with Alice who by the way is still looking at me like she has no idea who I am. I shake Alice out of it and the DJ starts playing Cupid Shuffle which is one of my favorite songs, I run to get the guys so they can do it with me. We have a blast dancing together until the bell rings for gym class.

Alice and I walk it to the girls locker room and start changing into our gym cloths. I have my usual running shorts with a work out shirt and my Nikes. As we walk outside to the field we find the guys goofing off so Alice and I decided to do a sneak attack. We jump on Mikey and Lu taking them down then we tag team on AJ. Then we spot Dave and pounce on him too. We take all four of them down with no problem. Seeing them all on the floor pouting was funny. Sometimes the guys can be worse than girls. The gym coach comes out quieting everyone letting us that he paired us up for a obstacle course that will test us on agility, strength, and precision. Alice was with AJ, Mikey was with a girl named Angel, Lu was with Jackson and I was with Jereme who everyone cheered and whistled for when they found out we were partners.

“You ready.” Jereme asks me concerned

“Mmhm.”

“Let me know if you need me to slow down”

“More like hope you can keep up.” I say jokingly.

“Oh is that so Gonzalez.” He says lifting his eyebrow giving me a little nudge.

“Yupp but don’t worry I won’t leave you behind, we’ll hopefully” I say sarcastically.

Jereme cracks me his killer smirk that gives every girl at school the chills and I can feel my checks blush a little. We hear the buzzard go off and we dart to the course. It’s filled with hurdling, climbing wooden fences, climbing ropes, throwing 50 pound weight balls into a hoop. Jereme and I are head of everyone but I see him getting tired so I slow down a little. We both agree to slow down until we see the finish line and then we g*n it.

We won!!! We cross the finish line and I jump into his arms and he swings me around.

“We did it!”

“Yea we did.”

“Um I think you can put me down now Jereme.” I say in a low voice avoiding eye contact while my legs are wrapped around his waist

“But I like you like this” he says in a husky voice.

“She said put her down Haynes” I hear Lu stating in his overly protective voice.

“No I don’t think I will. Isn’t that right pumpkin.” With that he throws me over his shoulder and starts walking away. Haynes really has a death wish today doesn’t he. I see Lu ready to pounce him with me on his shoulder and I nod my head letting him know I got it. He’s pissed like really pissed. I finally get put down in front of the rest of the football team and I’m pissed.

“What the hell Jereme?!”

“Aww come on pumpkin don’t be upset. Plus you liked it.” He says pulling me in.

“Let’s get something straight Mr.Playboy I’m not your type. I have brains and you go for bim bos so don’t think I’ll let you treat me the way you treat the rest of the girls here.” I say looking up at him.

“I like that nickname pumpkin” he says smirking. At this point Lu,Mikey,Dave and AJ are ready for the kill and I’m the only thing standing in their way.

“Fine you win. But first can I tell you a secret?”

“Sure pumpkin” he says leaning in

“I think Diana is looking for you” I say pushing him away from me and walking away.

Who does he think he is picking me up like that and what the hell is up with the nickname! Do I look like a pumpkin? I don’t think so! I might be short and be over weight but I’m not completely round and I’m surely not orange.

Walking back to my brother and our friends I can see smoke coming out of their ears; like how you see it the in cartoons. I smile at them and let them know that I handled it.

After school I walk it towards the bleachers by the football field since everyone is at practice. Alice is on one side of the field with the team and I see my little brother on the other with Lu,Mikey,AJ,and the rest of the football team. With it being the first day of school I don’t have any homework assignments yet, so I plug in my air pods into my ear and start playing my music again.

I wish I can join a sport or a after school activity; unfortunately my Alpha Queen duties take up 95% of my time now. I think I would be good at POMS or at softball but it is what it is. Practice is about 2 hours long so by the time they are all done everyone is all sweaty. The guys of course give me my hugs and kisses while still in their sweaty football uniform. I let them know I’ll wait for them at the truck.

*Buzz Buzzz*

Unknown: Hey there’s a party tonight at the lake in the next town over wanna come?

Me: who is this?

Unknown: Are you serious pumpkin? Your the only girl in the school who doesn’t have my number lol.

Me: What do you want Jereme?

Unknown: I just wanted to invite you to the party.

Me: Why should I go? You were a complete asshole earlier

Jereme: look I’m sorry. Your the only girl who has told me no and the guys were already busting my a*s on it.

Me: So you pulled that stunt because of the guys! How macho

Jereme: I’m sorry Crystal. Please forgive me

Me: Actions are stronger than words Jereme

Jereme: look go to the party tonight and I’ll show you how sorry I am

Me:………

Looking up from my phone I see Jereme from the other end of the parking lot looking at me with a small smile. How exactly did he get my number in the first place and why is he being so nice to me? So many questions and I have literally no answers.

“MOM WE’RE HOME!” Mikey screams off the top of voice.

We all walk towards the kitchen and we find my aunts getting ready for dinner. Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like if I had my parents. Would I be where I’m at in life or would I have to fight twice as hard to get at least half if what I have.

“Mama’s your home. I missed you”

“Whoa there mini mi, if you hug me any harder I’ll run out of air.” I say jokingly

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you”

“I’m kidding babe. So how was your day? Where is Max?”

“I’m right here.”

“Hey flacito where’s my hug?”

“Hey sis.”

My two little brothers start telling me about their day while we help set up the table for dinner. At dinner we talk about our days and my phone is non stop buzzing. My uncles have a rule at the dinner table; how there are no electronics allowed since it suppose to be “family time”, so I excuse myself to the bathroom really quickly to see who is blowing up my phone. Load and be hold it’s Mr.Playboy himself he really is desperate isn’t he.

Artemis: Tell him to f**k off he does realize that looking desperate is a turn off right.

Me: I know but I can’t be that mean to him either. Don’t worry about it I’ll take care of it.

Artemis: Just be careful I have a weird feeling about this party.

Me: Don’t worry I’ll be careful.

I walk back to the dinner table with my phone in my butt pocket and I’m a little excited about this party today but I have no idea how to ask. I’m so in my head about this party that I haven’t even taken a bite out of my dinner.

“You ok princess?”

“Huh” I look up from my plate all confused since I’m not sure who was talking.

“I said are you ok. You have barley touched your dinner.”

“Ooh. I’m sorry uncle Lucas, yes I’m ok”

“Ok good so about your training tonight. We are going to focus on you not shifting in a fight. You need to be able to defend yourself without having to shift”

“Ooooh um ok.” I say looking down playing with my food.

“Hey what’s wrong baby girl?” My uncle Xavier asked worried

“It’s nothing.”

“What is it princess it’s ok. Was someone giving you trouble at school again? Honey get me my phone I’m calling the principal this instant!”

“More like Crystal was giving others problems.” Mikey says laughing

I end up throwing a piece of bread at Mikey making him duck and continue to laugh.

“Hey guys did you hear about the girl who went off on Diana today? Apparently she’s hot.” Saul chimes in

“Oh my god this can’t get any better.” Mikey says basically falling off his chair dying of laughter.

“Son would you like to tell us what’s so funny.”

“Sorry dad. It’s just that Saul just called Crystal hot. Dude she’s the girl who went off on Diana today.” Mikey has tears coming out of his eyes and everyone else seems to be laugh except my uncles and my aunts.

“Young lady care to explain yourself” my uncle Lucas stated sternly

“I’m sorry uncle Lucas. There was a girl at school and she started to make AJ uncomfortable and he asked her to leave and then her evil minions came and started to make Lu and Mikey uncomfortable and they weren’t leaving after they asked them nicely so I told them to leave and then this one girl named Diana which basically on her knees begging for AJ to give her attention decided to lounge at me and luckily AJ caught her because it not we would of ended up fighting with blood drawn and it wouldn’t of been mine.” I say out of breath.

“You should of seen there faces dad, all her training is coming into play in certain situations. She’s a silent one.”

“I see son but princess you can’t be getting into trouble at school.”

“ I know uncle Lucas I’m sorry I just don’t like them uncomfortable and if they were asked to leave nicely then they should understand.”

“ It’s fine sweet heart just be carful ok. Remember no one can know who you actually are ok. So what else is on your mind”

“Welllll. I was actually invited to a party today and I was wondering if we can go for a little bit.”

“YOU WERE WHAT!”

“Honey Xavier calm down.”

“No your not going to a party your 15 and it’s a school night.”

“Wait how do you know about the party, when the text hasn’t gone out yet??? OMG!!! You know the person who’s having it don’t you! Is he cute?” Alice asks all excited

I ignore Alice’s question and to be honest I wasn’t in the mood to go to the party anymore. I just wanted to be by myself; I excuse myself from the dinner table apologizing for even asking about the party. I knew it! I knew I shouldn’t of had even asked.

Walking it to my office was silent and emotional. Did I want to go to a party that I was invited too, yes I did! I don’t have many friends at school and now that I’m actually making one this happens. Is he an a*s yes but everyone has their reasons to be the way they are. Looking over some documents I feel someone coming and at this point I don’t want to see anyone.

*** knock knock****

“Come in”

“What you doing princess?”

“Nothing just looking over some paperwork.”

“Come here and sit with me for a sec.”

“What’s up uncle Lucas?” I say walking towards him.

“Look your uncle Xavier and I are very proud of where you are right now and yes we are very protective sometimes.”

“Uncle Lucas I’m fine”

“Hear me out princess. Xavier is just worried about you. He doesn’t want you to get hurt.Non of us want to see you get hurt. Should of he had yelled at you that way no he shouldn’t but he couldn’t help it sweet heart.”

***knock knock****

“Can I come in?”

“Yes” uncle Lucas states

“Hi baby girl”

“Hi uncle Xavier” I say lowly

“Can I take a seat next to you?”

I can’t look at my uncle. His scolding reminded me of when my father use to scold me when I did something I shouldn’t have. I was already on the verge of crying when I saw him so all I do is nod my head and avoid eye contact with him.

“Hey look at me baby girl”

My uncle sounded hurt and desperate but I couldn’t look at him. I couldn’t let him see me cry.

“Hey princess, what’s wrong why you crying.”

“It’s nothing I’m fine. I need to get back to work.” I say getting up from my seat

“Baby girl come here for a sec please. Let me talk to you. I’m sorry. Lucas is right I shouldn’t of yelled at you. And your a great kid and I over reacted but I couldn’t help it.”

“Princess hear him out please come take a seat on the couch.”

“Look sweetie I’m sorry. I’m very sorry. Your a teenager now and your not the same little girl that need us to protect her and…..”

“Uncle Xavier it’s fine really.” I say giving him a hug.

“Promise me you will let us know if something goes wrong!”

“What?” I ask all confused

“Promise me you won’t ignore your instincts and let us know when something isn’t right!!”

“Really uncle Xavier. I can go?”

“Yes but your taking everyone else with you. But promise me first”

“I promise uncle Xavier. Thank you thank you thank you. I’ll go let Alice and the guys know.”

I’m so excited I bolt out of my room with a giant smile on my face. I’m running down the hall when I come to a sudden stop when I realize I didn’t thank them properly. I run back into my office seeing my uncles talk when I give my uncle Xavier and Lucas a giant hug and a kiss on the cheek.

I’m going to the party I’m so excited. I’ve never been to a party before. What do I wear?
