Later that day, Ayan found Hala in her university, his eyes were filled with a mixture of concern and determination. He was ready to know her answer.
"Hala, what did you say?" he asked, his voice urgent. "Did you agree?"
Hala was in a state of confusion. "Oh no no no....I don't know what to do, Ayan. I don't know if this is right." She was panicking yet again.
Ayan's expression hardened, there was a sort of frustration on his face. "You know I want to be with you, Hala. I want you to be mine." His tone was now very obsessive as he has always been. Was this a hint for Hala to reject his proposal?
But still being the confused girl she was she didn't answer abruptly. Then Ayan started pestering Hala about the proposal, making her feel uncomfortable, and making her believe that it was the only way to get rid of the problem.
The problem????
Hala knew that Ayan never forgot about Hala's crush. And being mindful of a man's ego she immediately predicted her future being a tortuous or filled with many fights that she never wanted.
Growing in a normal house where everyone was busy doing there work and not a loving environment, this was what Hala detested the most.
Days turned into weeks, and the pressure mounted. One afternoon, Ayan appeared in Hala's classroom, his face filled with a strange mixture of anger and desperation.
"So, Hala," he began, his voice cold. "Are you still thinking about Arham? Is that why you are hesitating?"
The words struck Hala like a hard blow. Tears just started coming up to her eyes, and she finally understood the true nature of Ayan's intentions.
"That's why I can't marry you!" she cried, her voice was on the edge , it wasn't coming out anymore, trembling. And finally Hala stated the words that were eating her up from inside.
This is why she couldn't marry him "Because you'll always remember Arham. You'll always hold my past against me, and every mistake I make will remind you of him!"
Ayan's expression softened, his anger dissolving into a look of genuine remorse or was that only what Hala was thinking?.
He reached out gentle hands wiping Hala's tears. "I'm sorry, Hala. I was wrong. I was jealous, and I let my insecurities get the best of me. I promise, I will never bring him up again."
He held her hands tightly and started apologizing again and again.
"I love you, Hala," he whispered, his voice was filled with emotions. "I do. I really do love you", "No one can take you from me."
Once again Ayan's words were filled with obsessive emotions but Hala has now given up on that and she was more inclined towards his loving words rather than the threats in his words or maybe the obsession.
In that moment, Hala got the idea of his genuine words, a genuine vulnerability that she hadn't seen before. And in that moment, she realized that she was falling for him too.
The wedding was done filled with love and hope. But the wedding day had more intensity in it.
Rather than a loving confession on the night of wedding Hala was struck with something that made her whole life black and white in a single blow.
What did Ayan say to Hala?
