Jill shut her eyes, hearing the slam of the door even though she’d plugged in her earbuds. The fact of the matter was that it had just been a ruse to get Samuel to leave. He was so damn difficult, so moody, and his personality was so strong. At times, he could be cruel with his cutting remarks. What the hell was wrong with her that she couldn’t let him go? She had realized now that he lashed out at those he said he loved, pushing them away, and that flicker in his eyes, that fear he couldn’t seem to shake, was about commitment.
