Chapter 8 “You’re back. Why? When did you get here?” Erin was standing in the doorway of his office. “Natalie said your wife was sick.” Samuel glanced up and rubbed his eyes, then pressed his fingers to the bridge of his nose before pulling in a breath. The scraps of yellow paper from his notes were scattered all over his desk. He leaned back in his chair, his tie loosened around his neck, taking in the darkened offices, all empty, behind her. He glanced at his watch. It was after six, and he’d been back for hours, but he didn’t bother sharing that.
