CHAPTER EIGHT

NALA POV:

The man’s voice behind me asked “May we join your sparring season?” I turned around, and I went face to face with the most sexist man alive. He had dark hair, a strong jaw line. He has baby blue eyes. He has a chiseled chest that goes smoothly into his eight-pack abs. He is tall, he is like 6’7”. He has not even an ounce of fat on him. I knew I was checking him out for a second. I noticed he was checking me out as well. Jack snapped me out of the train from the sight of him. Jack said “Sure, Nala, this is Zane and Alex.” He pointed at each. Now I know the sexy man’s name is Zane. I said “Nice to meet you guys. If you join, I don’t want to hear any complaints about me kicking your butt and whipping the floor with you. Zane laughed. And he almost brought me to my knees with just his laugh. It was rich. Zane said “Okay, now you are on. " If I win, what do I get?”

I replied, “Your pride that you didn’t get your ass kicked by a girl.” He laughed again and just nodded his head. Yes, then the two men came and joined our sparring session. I noticed that Zane was going to partner up with me. I smiled at myself and I thought this was going to be fun. I noticed he was staring at my body. I looked down thinking something was on me, but there was nothing. I then yelled, “Are you going to just stand there or what?” That is all it took for him to charge at me. I knew he was going to try to hit me with a fast hit to the head. But I dodged it and I landed an uppercut on his right side. He stumbled back. He looked really shocked that I just landed a punch at him. What did he expect that I would go easy on him? That won't happen. That is when I realized he wasn’t really taking this seriously before. He is just like everyone, always underestimating me. I don’t understand why no one ever thinks of me as a threat, or whether I am serious. Well, I guess he will learn like everyone else. They all need to know never to underestimate me. We went for a few minutes. While he was catching his breath, I checked my time and I realized I had to leave soon. He got up and got me into a headlock, but I knew how to get the switch on him without him realizing it. That is when I dropped him and I knew I was taking him with me. She flipped me and she had me pinned. That is when I heard someone laughing. I got off of him and I offered my hand to help him up. He took it and I knew I felt the sparks, but I didn’t let him notice. That is when we heard a voice coming from behind him. It was a female voice. She said, “Hey, what’s going on here?”

The guy named Alex replied, “We are training, why?”

She replied, “Well, I need my boyfriend. " You don’t mind, do you? Ummm, I don’t know your name.” I didn’t like that she was being a b***h and snobby to me for no reason. I don’t even know her. I can already tell that she is going to be a problem for me here. So I replied, “Nala, and he is all yours if he wants to go. I don’t have a say.”

She gave me a narrowed look and said “You might want to watch your mouth before it gets you in trouble around here.” Now I know this girl is going to be a problem. I didn’t say anything wrong or give her attitude. But now my temper is up, and I am not going to let her walk all over me and think she scares me and that is not what is happening here. I just didn’t want to start anything, especially when I am leaving today and my grandmother will be there. Yeah, she had Jack with her and I know he would not let anything happen to her, but still.

I replied “By whom, you? You just spoke for a few minutes. I already know you don’t train. Well, not really anyway. I know you are a pick me, and you want everything your way and throw a tantrum when you don’t get your way. So I feel sorry for Zane here because he is your “boyfriend” or, more accurately, someone there to help him with his needs. Because let’s be honest, your voice is very annoying. But I have to get back to training. " Jack, are you ready to go again?”

She said “I will hurt you b***h. You need to take back what you said if you want to get your ass kicked.”

I replied, “I am betting you won’t be able to hurt me a damn fly because they are smarter than you.” That was all it took for her to come charging at me. Before she was even near me, she started to throw punches and tried to scratch me, but she wasn’t really near me. She was just trying to look cute for Zane. It was really pathetic. That is when I grabbed her by the head and put her in a headlock. She was struggling to get out of it. I said, “See what I said about you not really training. Now you're going to go to sleep because you won't be able to get out of this. Say good night.” That is when I tightened my grip and started putting pressure. That is when Jack came up behind me and said “Nala, let go. " You made your point. So I let her go. She started coughing and started to cry to Zane. She said “You tried to kill me. Zane, you have to do something. Kick her off of our territory.”

Zane finally spoke up and said “No, I am not doing that. You started it by going at her. You're just mad because you couldn’t actually hurt her. And that is a good thing because she is different from us.”

She replied, “You are supposed to take my side all the time. I am your girlfriend.”

Zane replied, “No, we are not. I told you twice yesterday and I will tell you again today and this is my last time I am telling you. " I am not into you. " We are not together, so please don’t call me baby, babe, or anything like that.” Then Zane looked at me and said, “I am sorry for her behavior. Did she hurt?”

I replied “No, she hit me once, and it felt like I was getting hit by a one-year-old.” While I was telling him this, I looked down at my watch and said, “Jack, we have to go. " Nice to meet you, Alex and Zane.” That is when I walked away. After Jack and I were further away from them, I asked “Jack, what did Zane mean when he said I was different from all of you?”

Jack replied, “All he heard was that you were new here, and you didn't know everything that is going on here. But what do you think of them both?”

I replied, “Nice trying to change the subject. And they are okay. I just don’t know them, but I have to get into my uniform. I have to go.”

Jack replied “I am sorry you have to leave here so soon, but I totally understand. " If there is anything you need over there, just let me know. " I will certainly get it for you with no question.” Jack and I were talking all the way to his house. My grandmother was outside on the porch waiting for us to return. My grandmother said, “Well, there you two are. How was training?”

Jack replied, “it was great your granddaughter here kicked mine and Zane's asses. And the girl I told you about Ashley’s ass as well. Nala was actually trying to make her go to sleep, but I told her to let go. She listened to me.”

My grandmother replied “Well, that Ashley girl needs to be taught a lesson” and it looks like my granddaughter did just that. Nala, you have to go get a shower and get ready. We have to leave in a few minutes. I will be driving you to basic training.” With that, I hugged Jack and my grandmother and went inside. I thought to myself that they were hiding something and I would find out later. I then got up into my room, got my uniform out, laid it on the bed. That is when I went to go grab a shower. It was a really quick one, but I went into my room and got dressed. I made sure my bag was packed and that I had everything that I needed. Once I was ready, everything was packed. I walked out of the room and downstairs. I had my father’s necklace on me. I put the pendant on my chain, so I can always keep it with me with no problem. Once I walked out of the house, my grandmother and Jack were standing there. I asked “what is going on?”

Jack said, “We were waiting for you. Are you ready?”

I replied “Yeah. I am all packed.”

My grandmother said, “Do you have your father’s pendant?”

I pulled it out of my shirt and said “always.” My grandmother smiled and told us to get into the car so we could go. We did as she said. We started to drive out. We came to the grate, and we got told that we had to wait. There was a commotion. Jack got out of the car and went to the grate. My grandmother was waiting patiently for Jack to get back in the car. I heard “We are here for the protector. " We need her help.” That is when I got out of the car and I grabbed my guns. My grandmother asked “where was I going?” But I didn’t answer her. I just went to the gate. The guards said “Ms. Please go wait inside your vehicle.” But I ignored him. That is when the same guy that I shot was in front of six dirty people yelling “we came here for help from the protector.” That is when he saw me. He said, “Oh what do you want, woman? Do you want to give me what I wanted earlier?”

I replied “Do you want another bullet? Because you will be dead this time if you come on me again. What is going on?”

Neko said, “I am sorry ma’am, there is a person there that we need to talk to. But we are not allowed access. Because we are allowed on the territory.”

I replied, “It is fine. Who are you looking for? Do you know their names?”

Neko said, “Nala is her name.”

I replied, “Well, as far as I know. I am the only Nala here. What can I do for you since you are looking for me?”

Tom finally spoke and said, “Yeah, right, this little girl, we are not following her. The boys came in to help me get her, so we took her back to the King.” They advanced on me. I told Jack to move back behind me. He did as I said. That is when I sent off four rounds. They hit each one of them who was trying to touch me. I shot three in their heads. Tom was on the ground again, because I shot him straight in his d**k and said “I thought I told you never to try that again. You obviously didn’t heed my warning not to try to touch me. Neko, what is your friend's name behind you?”

Neko replied, “It is my mate, Catherine. She is pregnant, we just need refuge. " We are not trying to hurt anyone, but we need protection.”

I replied “protected from whom?”

Neko said “Rogue King. He is crazy. Please help us.”

I replied “Let me see what I can do okay.” I don’t understand why. But I believe these two. I can't explain it, but I have a feeling that I trust them. Tom then got up and went at me again. And I shot him in his head. I said, “Jack, can I take them into the hut until Zane, I guess, owns this land.”

Jack said “sure.” I smiled at him. I looked at Neko and Catherine and told them to come with me into the hut. " I told one guard to call Zane to come down here.” The guard told me he had already had. And he will be here in a few minutes. Just then, Alex and Zane went into the building and Zane asked the authorities “what’s going on here?”

I replied, “Well, these people are looking for me because they want me to protect them from a guy named the Rogue King. And honestly, I believe they won't hurt anyone and the other people who he was with are dead. Neko and Catherine looked scared shitless. Is there any way you can find housing for them just for them to have protection from this guy?”

Zane looked at me and studied me for a second and asked “Do you believe them?”

I replied “I don’t believe or trust people easily. Just ask my grandmother, but yes, I trust these guys.”

Zane said “Fine, we will house you both, but don’t try anything, and you will be watched until Nala can get back. Understood?”

Neko replied “Thank you, Alpha, thank you protector. " You just saved my family and me, and I am indebted to you for the rest of your life.”

I replied “Nala, and just stay true to yourselves and keep your family safe. " Don't cause any issues for these nice people." And we will be good. Deal?”

Catherine just came and hugged me and said “Thank you so much! And we will not cause problems. " You have our word.” I smiled and said, “Well, I have to go. But I will be back soon.” With that, Jack said, “Go get into the car, we really need to go. " I will meet you there, and I need to talk to Zane really fast.” I nodded and I walked away. I felt a pair of eyes on me as I walked away. I got into the car. About a minute later, Jack reentered the car, and we started to leave and said “Now let’s get you to basics.” With that, we started to drive again.
