CHAPTER SEVEN

ZANE POV:

We started to run when I heard a gunshot. Alex looked at me when I got a mindlink from Jack. Jack said, “Don’t worry, no one got hurt besides this disgusting rogue. He was trying to get Nala to go with him so he could do whatever he wanted for her. But she shot him first. I didn’t even know she had a gun on her at all.”

I asked, “Is she hurt in any way? Are you hurt in any way?”

Jack replied, “The only one that was hurt was the rogue between his ego and his leg, where she shot him. She has an amazing aim.”

I replied “Good, where are you guys headed now?”

Jack replied, “We are about to go to the training ground.” My eyes refocused. Alex asked me who got shot. So I answered him. I said, “One of the rogues tried to get himself on Celena’s granddaughter, but he didn’t realize she was packing heat on her. I mean, I am glad she can protect herself when she needs to.”

Alex replied, “Yeah, I heard she was going into the Army. And she is leaving today just like me.” I stopped in my tracks. I didn’t realize that my beautiful mate would be leaving to go put herself in danger. Blaze said, “We have to try to keep her here with us. If not, we have to support her and encourage her. " I want her to lean on us when she is having a hard time over there, and we make sure we pick up on the first or second ring so we can hear her voice.” I agreed with him. I then refocused and asked Alex if he wanted to go to the training grounds for a little bit. He agreed, so we started to run over there. Once we were near the ground. I couldn’t smell her scent and it was intoxicating. That is when I saw her in action. She was sparring with Jack. And Jack is twice her size. Jack actually tried to make a combination when she surprised him with a surprise attack. She got him off balance when she knocked him off of his feet. I was really impressed when I heard Jack say “damn, I didn’t realize that you are really strong.”

She replied “you know it.” That is when I cut in and asked “may we join your sparring session?” She turned around and finally faced me. That is when my eyes turned silver. Singling that the mate bond was met. Jack noticed it first and then Alex. She didn’t understand what was going on and why I was staring at her. Jack said “Sure, Nala, this is Zane and Alex.” He pointed at each of us. Nala replied, “Nice to meet you guys. If you join, I don’t want to hear any complaints about me kicking your butt and whipping the floor with you.”

I laughed and said “Okay, now you are on. " If I win, what do I get?”

Nala replied “your pride, that you didn’t get your ass kicked by a girl.” I laughed and nodded my head yes. Alex and I joined. I was partnered up with Nala and Alex was partnered up with Jack. I was only focused on Nala. Her body was glistening with sweat. Nala yelled, “Are you going to just stand there or what?” That is when I charged at her. She dodged me. That is when she landed an uppercut on my right side. That punch actually hurt. Jack was not kidding when he said she was really strong. That is when I stopped playing around and I got serious. When I got her in a headlock, that is when she went down and took me with her. That is when she flipped me and pinned me. It was only like thirty minutes before she pinned me. Alex started to laugh when he saw I was pinned by my own mate. She got off of me and gave me a hand. The sparks were really infectious. They felt amazing. That is when I heard a voice coming from behind me. I know that voice, it was Ashley. Ashley said “Hey, what is going on here?”

Alex replied, “We are just training, why?”

Ashley replied, “Well, I need my boyfriend.” You don’t mind, do you? Ummm, I don’t know your name.”

Nala replied “Nala, and he is all yours if he wants to go. I don’t have a say.”

Ashley gave Nala a narrowed look and said “You might want to watch your mouth before it gets you in trouble around here.”

Nala replied, “By whom, you. You just spoke for a few minutes. I already know you don’t train. Well, not really anyway. I know you pick me, and you want everything your way and throw a tantrum when you don’t get your way. So I feel sorry for Zane here because he is your “boyfriend” or, more accurately, someone there to help him with his needs. Because let’s be honest, your voice is very annoying. But I have to get back to training. " Jack, are you ready to go again?”

Ashley said “I will hurt you b***h. You need to take back what you said, or you will get your ass kicked.”

Nala replied “I am betting you won't be able to hurt a damn fly because they are smarter than you.” That is all it took before Ashley started to charge at Nala. Before I was able to say anything, Ashley reached her and started to punch and scratch at Nala. But she dodged every attack that was thrown at her. That is when Nala grabbed Ashley by her head and had her in a headlock. Ashley was struggling to get out of it. Nala said, “See what I said about you not really training. Now you're going to go to sleep because you won't be able to get out of this. " Say good night.” Nala kept squeezing. That is when Jack stepped in and said “Nala, let go. " You made your point.” Nala did as he said. Ashley started to cough and started to cry for me. Ashley said “You tried to kill me. Zane, you have to do something. Kick her off our territory.”

I replied “No, I am not doing that. You started it by going at her. You're just mad because you couldn’t actually hurt her. And that is a good thing because she is different from us.”

Ashley replied, “You are supposed to take my side all the time. I am your girlfriend.”

I replied “No, we are not. I told you twice yesterday and I will tell you again today and this is my last time I am telling you. " I am not into you. " We are not together, so please don’t call me baby, babe or anything like that.” I looked at Nala and said “I am sorry for her behavior. Did she hurt you?”

Nala answered, “No, she hit me once, and it felt like I was getting hit by a one-year-old.” She then looked down at her watch and said, “Jack, we have to go. Nice to meet you, Alex and Zane.” With that they started to walk away. I looked at Nala and my wolf was telling me to go after her. When I was about to walk after, Ashley grabbed my arm. I looked at her. She said, “Now, that b***h is gone. Why don't we go upstairs and have a little bit of fun?”

I replied “Ashley, I said no and that means no. If you don’t leave me alone, I will put you in the cells for a little bit, plus you were trying to put us in front of a human because of your jealousy, even though we are not together. You need to get over it and realize I am not mating you. You will never be my Luna. Do you understand now or do I have to dumb it down for you? Because you still don’t understand. I don’t mean to be mean, but you leave me no choice. Now you will stop touching me, and you will be calling me by my title from now on. " Do you understand?” With that, I turned around and saw that she was already almost out of my sight. I then turned back and walked away from Ashley. I didn’t say anything to anyone. I went back to my room, so I could get a shower and go back to my office. Once I was in my room, I locked the door, and went into the bathroom. I turned on the shower. I couldn’t stop thinking about Nala. About how her body was glistening with sweat, how her body would be able to fit mine perfectly, how the sparks were so strong. I couldn’t get enough of the feeling. I just couldn’t stop thinking about her. Just then, I got a mind link: “Alpha, we need you at the main gate now.”

I got out of the shower and got dressed, and I asked “what is going on?”

My warrior replied, “The human girl, she is all dressed in a uniform, and some rogues came out of the woods and tried to corner her, but one got shot.” With that, I just took off running.
