NALA POV:

After a few hours, I woke up and we were in Kentucky. I started to move and Jack said “Well back sleepyhead. We will be entering Tennessee soon.”

I said “sorry I fell asleep.”

My grandmother replied, “It is fine. So when do you leave to go to basics and where is it?”

I replied “I'll be leaving in two days, and I'm in Tennessee. And I have a lot of paperwork to fill out. Grandma, can you help me set up a bank account and can I put you as my beneficiary?”

My grandmother replied, “Of course, my dear. " And all of your money will be there when you come back home.” I smiled, and we all started talking about anything and everything. I was getting to know Jack and I realized he really does love my grandmother. I was happy she wasn't going to be alone when I was off in the war. I smiled at it. That is when I saw the sign welcoming Tennessee. To be honest, I was a little nervous and excited all at the same time. Jack started to talk about the town that we are going to live in and what it is to like and what are the fun things to do there. A little bit, after three more hours, we went outside a town called Bloodmoon. I was really happy because I could finally get out of this car and stretch. I asked Jack if he would like to run with me and train with me. He told me it would be an honor to be my partner. That is when I remember I was supposed to train with Kayla and I totally forgot to call her. I picked up my phone and I realized I had several messages: 1 from Kayla, 22 from my mom. I called Kayla. Kalya picked up the second ring. Kayla said “Well, thank Lord Nala. I thought something actually happened to you this time after what happened at school.”

I replied “I'm okay, I'm on my way to my grandmother’s house. I am sorry I didn’t say goodbye. I hope you are not mad at me.”

Kayla replied, “No, I am not mad. I was worried, but I totally understand why you had to leave. Oh, when do you go to basics?”

I answered “in two days.”

Kayla replied, “Well, I know you are probably tired. You have to tell me everything tomorrow after your training session.”

I replied “I will definitely call you tomorrow.” With that we said our goodbyes, and we hung up the phone. That is when we pulled up to a cute little house. We all got out. I got my bag out of the car, and we all started to walk into the house. That is when I heard the howling of wolves. Honestly, I felt like I was at peace.”

ZANE POV:

I was in my office going over financial records on the business in the human city that I own. About a week ago, one of my warriors, Jack, came to me and told me he had found his second chance mate. Jack told me his second chance mate was a human. So I had him bring her here so I could meet her and get to know her. The day I met her, I swear my wolf was starting to get antsy. She told me a little bit about herself and how her late husband was a part of my world. He was the protector, but he was sadly not here anymore. And she was excited to be with Jack, and she then told me about another situation with her granddaughter Nala. And she might have to come stay here for a few days because of the situation and I allowed it because I was not going to tell my granddaughter she couldn’t stay with her grandmother. I am not that cruel. Once we finished the conversation about Celena and Jack and possibly her granddaughter, they left my office. That is when I mindlicked Ashley. I mind-linked her to come up to my office. You see, Ashley and I have, for the lack of a better term, a companion who fills each other’s needs. I am twenty-two years old, and I still haven’t found my mate yet. I know for a fact that she is out there and, honestly, I want to be knowledgeable about s*x and, while yes, I had a few partners, Ashley has always been the one that was a constant. I know that she was me to make her my chosen Luna, but I will not do that. I know Ashley hints to me about it every other day, but I shut her down every time. I told her about our arrangement. There was a knock at the door that brought me out of my thoughts. I gave permission to come in. Ashley walks. Ashley said in her most seductive voice, which honestly sounds like nails to me. She said “You called me, Alpha,". What can I do for you?”

I replied, “I need to release some stress. "" Do you want to help me out? But before we could go any further, I got a mind link from my warriors. They need help with rogues on the southwest border. I immediately got up and ran out of the door. Once I was outside, I shifted into my wolf and my wolf Blaze took over and ran at full speed to the border. Once we were at the border. There were like thirty or more wolves here. The one who was talking to my warrior saw me and said “We are here for the protector. " We know she is here, or she will be here soon, and we need her help.”

I replied, “I am sorry, but your information is wrong. She or he is not here. I’m sorry for your time being wasted, but I would like you all to leave my territory.”

The man said, “Please, he is going to kill us. Please.”

I replied, “I am sorry. I can’t help you at this moment. Then the guy in the back of the crowd yelled, “There is only one Alpha, and we can take him.”

The guy in front of me yelled “we will not get a villain like our King.”

I replied “the Rogue King? I am sorry, what is your name?”

The man said “Sean.”

I replied “Well Sean, I am sorry, but I can’t help you, but I can help with a full meal and blankets.”

Sean replied, “We will be grateful for anything.” I gave instructions to one of my warriors to go grab food and blankets for them. My warrior did as I asked. I just stood there. The guy in the back of the crowd made my wolf feel uneasy. Once my warrior was back, we gave them all the food and blankets we could. They started to go back into the woods. I mindlinked my warriors to keep an eye out. I stayed out there for a while because I wanted to make sure everything was okay. I did trust my warriors, but my wolf was getting antsy for some reason. It was getting late. I knew it was, but my wolf, and I wasn’t ready to call it a night. While I was on patrol for a few hours, I got a mind link from Ashley. Ashley asked, “Baby, are you going to come back so I can help you relieve your stress?”

I replied, “No, there is something going on. You can go home. I will talk to you later.”

Ashley replied, “Oh, while I was waiting for you, your brother came by. He said he needed to talk to you. He says it is important. Would you like me to wait in your room so when you get back we pick up where we left off?”

I replied “Okay, I will make contact. Thank you for the heads-up and no, I don’t know, I think I am just going to go to bed. I will see you tomorrow, Ashley.” With that, I cut the mind link off with her. Blaze spoke up and said “Zane, you really need to let her go and don’t mess with her anymore. I mean it, because if you don’t, I will take over, and I will kill her the next time she is around us for anything other than official business.”

I replied, “I can’t just cut her off. " I would be a bad Alpha. " I don’t want you to do something that will reflect poorly on us as Alpha.”

Blaze replied, “I know something is coming, you had better be aware of whatever the consequences, because if you don’t cut her off, I will not step in to save you.” With that, he stopped talking to me. I knew he was right. About another hour later, I mind-linked my brother and said, “Hey, you came looking for me. What’s up?”

Alex replied “I need to have a conversation with you about something that is really important.”

I replied “I will be in my office in about five minutes, but after we talk I have to go back out on patrol.”
