“Kyron! What the hell!” Dahlia bursts into my office.
Here we go.
“I might need extra protection.”
“Well then take some damn wolves!”
“No it’ll be too obvious, anyone could easily spot a bunch of wolves and take that information back to their superiors. Plus as far as I know there aren’t any packs there so Demetrius would more than likely be that superior.”
“Well if there’s no packs they’re going to sense the both of you anyway! Have you forgotten you are both Alphas?”
“That is why you and Irina are coming you two can mask our scents.”
“What?! I’ve never done that before.”
“Perhaps you could rub yourself all over, Nate, that should do the trick” Andy teases walking through the door.
Dahlia picks up a cushion hurling it at him. After being hit he clutches his head in pain.
“Oh my gosh, Andy, I’m so sorry” she runs to him in a panic.
“Just kidding” he says, she attempts to slap him but he catches her hand.
“Asshole! I wish you lost your smart ass ways with your memories too!”
“Good to have you back brother, have your memories already started coming back to you?”
“I wish, no the door was open then I remembered what you two were talking about on the jet.”
“Well at least you’re still... you” Dahlia adds. “But I’m still not finished with you!” She turns pointing to me. “I don’t want to come with you!”
“Why? You always come with me.”
“Oh you know why, I have a girlfriend!”
“And where is she? Does she even know you’re home yet?” She opens her mouth before closing it, then she opens again but no words come out.
“That’s what I thought. Now if you truly love your girlfriend, Nate shouldn’t be a problem now should he?”
“I’m still not coming.”
“Fine.”
“Fine!”
“Fine.”
She stomps her foot before walking out, slamming the door behind her. Andy let’s out a long and slow whistle after her departure.
I pray I never have a daughter. The women of my family will be the death of me.
“So how are you feeling brother?” I ask Andy.
“Okay I guess...” he says turning his head away. I can tell he feels a little unsettled.
“What’s wrong?”
“Sorry... I know you’ve got more important things to worry about right now.”
“It’s fine, you can talk to me.”
“I was just getting a little overwhelmed with every one. I know they all care but I just needed a break but now I feel a little bad.”
“Don’t feel bad, it would be a lot to take in.”
“It is, it really is.”
“Well take as long as you need. If you ever need somewhere to hide out even while I’m gone come to my floor, nobody will bother you up here.”
“Thanks Kyron.”
“No worries.”
—————————
“Are you ready?” I ask Irina as we sit in our packs private jet waiting for take off.
“Definitely, I’m surprised you even asked me to be quite honest.”
“Well I’d rather take my cousins who I’m closest to than the others.”
“Sorry about Dahlia, I don’t know why she didn’t want to come. It’s unlike her, do you know why?”
“Namirah’s brother seems to have taken a liking to your sister and it makes her question everything about herself... I guess it scares her.”
“No. f*****g. Way. So that’s why she’s not coming?”
“Oh she’s coming.”
“What? I thought she said she wasn’t.”
“She did say, but I know she’ll be here any second.”
My wolf hearing picks up the sound of foot steps walking up the stairs into the jet. Irina looks over to me with a smirk on her face, I do the same to her.
“Told you” I whisper.
“Don’t even. Just don’t” Dahlia says slumping down on to the seat facing Irina.
“Sorry we’re just glad you’re here” I reply.
“Yes I’m sure we’ll ALL be glad” Irina teases her sister.
“You told her?!”
“She wanted to know.”
“He’s not the reason!”
“Sure he isn’t” Irina mumbles under her breath.
“I only came to help you Kyron, I have a girlfriend who I love very much.”
“If you say so sis” Irina adds.
—————————
“Please prepare for landing.”
I glance over at Dahlia, the closer we got to New Orleans the more nervous she became. Now she looks like her nerves are through the roof.
“I wish I stayed home” she mumbles.
“There’s our hired vehicle” I point to the black SUV.
After loading our gear I type the location of The Crescent Moon Pack into the GPS.
“I can already feel the difference in the strength of my magic compared to home” Irina says.
“You’ve never left home have you?” I ask.
“No this is my first time.”
“Welcome to America.”
“It’s almost sickening to see you two get along so well” Dahlia jokes.
“It’s almost sickening to see you freaking out over a guy” Irina fires back at her.
I roll my eyes, here we go.
Maybe this was a bad idea bringing these two.
“I’m not freaking out!”
“You are so, you can’t lie to me we’re twins, twin witches at that, what you feel I feel.”
Dahlia slumps back into her seat.
Finally we make it to the Pack border.
“Alpha Kyron” one of the guards nods to me before opening the main gate.
The Alpha house comes into view. I can’t help but think about my mate and the first memory I have of her. Taking in the surroundings, one wouldn’t even be able to tell that there was a vicious war here only weeks ago. As I’m looking out across their pack lands I hear the pitter patter of feet, a smile instantly makes it’s way onto my face. I turn to see Reign with a big grin stretched across his face as he runs to me. I pick him up hugging him just as tight as he hugs me.
“Goddess you’ve grown already.”
“I missed you.”
“I missed you too, buddy.”
“I wish you brought my brothers with you” he frowns at me.
“Me too.”
“Kyron, it’s good to see you man” Dean says as he greets me.
“Hello Dahlia” he says to her. “And who’s this?” He gestures to Irina.
“I-I’m Irina, Dahlias twin sister” she replies.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Dean.”
“Where’s Nate?” I ask.
“He’s inside with Marvella, come. I’ll get some wolves to bring your luggage in.”
As we’re walking I lean over to Irina and whisper.
“Did you really just stutter?”
“Shut. Up.” She says through gritted teeth.
“Hello Kyron, it’s good to see you again” Elizabeth says trying to hug me with Reign still in my arms.
“Don’t you think you’re a little big to be getting carried around now Reign?” He rolls his eyes before climbing out of my arms.
“Yes grandmaaa” he says to her before walking off.
Elizabeth introduces herself to Irina before turning to Dahlia, the tension in the room suddenly thickens.
“I’ll take youse to Nate up stairs” Dean butts in to the awkwardness. I start following him with Irina, then I turn to see Dahlia standing there.
“I think I’ll just wait down here” she says. Before I can urge her to come with us Irina turns to her sister.
“Fine, suit yourself” she says grabbing onto my arm and pulling me along. “Weakling...” she whispers knowing very well that it’ll make her follow. Sure enough Dahlia changes her mind and follows but not before telling her sister to shut up.
Dean knocks on the door.
“Come in” a voice comes through the other side Irina looks to her sister with a smirk.
“Kyron it’s good to see you again, although a lot sooner than expected but never mind.”
“Nate” I say shaking his hand. “This is my cousin Irina and you’ve already met Dahlia.” Nate nods at Irina before his eyes linger on Dahlia long enough for an awkward silence to fill the room. Irina clears her throat bringing him back to earth.
“Please take a seat” Nate says.
“So how are you?” I ask making conversation before we get into business.
“Good as can be, you? How’s the boys?”
“They’re good, big, a little crazy but never the less they’re good. Where’s your daughter?”
“That’s good, hopefully sometime soon I’ll see them. Marvella’s just gone to sleep.”
“Well let’s get down to business shall we.”
“Yes, do you have a plan in mind?”
“Well I think we all know it’s going to be like looking for a needle in a haystack but all we can do is try. We’ll fly there and hopefully the Moon Goddess will be on our side so we can sniff out some other supernatural beings, wolves, vampires, witches anything that can give us any sort of information about other being, Demetrius, anything.”
“This is going to be hard isn’t it?”
“To be completely honest I have little faith in this but I at least want to give it a try.”
“Then that’s exactly what we’ll do. I owe my sister my life.”
