My daughter, Catherine Mae Reiley, is sleeping peacefully in my arms. In my hands I have literally held the lives of men and figuratively held the hearts of women before, yet I have never felt responsibility like this before. If Jenny Lynn thinks I’ve been overly protective before, then they ain’t seen nothing yet.
My back is stiff, my arms nearly asleep from the dead-weight of the perfect seven pounds eight ounces cradled in them. Still, I cannot bring myself to move an inch.
