He started dialling the number of my parents first. But before doing that, he warned us by saying:
- I listened to you and don't make me regret it. You are just going to tell him that you are OK, that you are fine and then you should immediately hang up the phone!- he said with a serious face.
-Ok!-I agreed.
He's started calling my parents. Actually, I gave him my dad's number. "Dad, answer the phone!"- I said in a low voice.
-Hello?- he spoke. Of course, he wouldn't answer "Hey, Hana". I forgot that he didn't know the number. It wasn't an unknown number.
-Who is this? Hello?- he continued.
Finally, I answered by saying just the word: " Dad "
and I could tell that he immediately recognised my voice.
-Hana, is this you? Hello?
- Dad!-I started crying,- yeah it's me!- I said and I had already burst into tears.
I could hear my mother screaming in the background and mentioning my name.
-How are you honey? Where are you?-he asked.
And then I answered:
- We're ok. I'm with Jon. Please help us...
Immediately after saying that, Sam took the phone and hung up. After that tiny conversation I had with my dad, I was kinda having hope because, since they had surely called the police, I was sure that they would find us via location and fortunately, there was still hope.
Then he dialled the number of John's parents and he talked to them but none of us were able to add any more information about our current location. He, Sam, didn't allow us to.
It was about 10 a.m. I saw the time on his watch in his right hand. Everything needed to end today. That's all I thought.
He stayed with us for the next 2 hours and then, when it was around noon, he said that he would bring the food for us and then he left. He locked the door.
He didn't forget to tell us this:
- Don't try to scream! It is in the middle of nowhere. None can hear you. Please, don't scream! You'll get tired of nothing.
He left and we were quiet and none of us spoke.
Later, we heard some car noises and then we heard the police siren and the noises started to get louder, so it meant that they were approaching us. Luckily, we hadn't any tape in our mouths, so we were able to talk. Then there were some footsteps.
-The Cops!- I told Jon.
- Help, help, help, help!- we started screaming.
We could tell that someone was behind the door and was trying to unlock it. The door was unlocked and it was Sam who looked preoccupied.
-The police are coming!- he said.
- Leave us! Please! If you leave us, we will not denounce you to the police. Please, do it for the sake of your two little kids and I promise that if you leave us and go, we will help you. Just tell me your full name!- Jon said.
Sam started thinking.
-Come on, Sam! There is no time to think. They're coming!- I said.
- It's Sam de la Cruz,- and then he left.
-Wow, he didn't look like a Hispanic man,- I told Jon while doing a strange mimic. Hahaha! Okay.
And we're half-relieved.
Then finally the police arrived and untied us and we went in a hurry outside of that old building and we saw that my parents were there. Jon's parents were there, too. We separated on our way to our families and hugged them hard. They were extremely but extremely worried about us and luckily that nightmare was about to end. We got driven away from that nightmare place. The police took us to the commissary office and then we testified all the things we had seen, all of the things that happened to us, except for Sam's situation.
They told us that they would do everything to solve that case.
By the way, we totally forgot about "The Strong Ties". We haven't been in touch with them as long as we weren't with no one.
Days had passed really quickly and it was the 6th day of the New York trip for the other members of "The Strong Ties", for our friends. And right after we gave our testimonies,
we were told to leave the commissary building and outside, right in front of the commissary building, there was the group. Yeah. Yes.
There were all. Albi, Kristal, Greta, Kris, Silvana, Beku, Izabela and Ben.
Everyone could easily tell that they were so worried about us.
-Hana! Jon! How are you?- Ben asked with a worried facial expression.
Then Silvana asked:
- Are you hurt guys?
- Jon!- Beku called.
-Hana!- Izabela called.
They ran to hug both of us and that was it. "The Strong Ties'' was back!!!
-Why are you here guys?- Jon asked.
-What do you mean?- Greta said- You were all over the newspapers.
-Even in New York,- Kristal added.
- So we got the first train.-Kris said.
We're back.
It was 5:00 p.m already and we decided to go to our houses first and take a good shower and then we would meet at Starbuck's around 7:00 p.m because we really did miss our hangouts. During that time, I didn't talk to anyone. Even with Jon.
I took a good shower and ate some good food. And I got ready and we gathered at Starbuck's.
I missed that kind of conversation. Jon and I were the topic of all the conversations. We told them everything. At that point in my love, I was not thinking about Jon. I was feeling our
relationship bond. I really appreciated that.
FRIENDSHIP IS A GOOD HEALER!!!
We decided to meet again tomorrow and to go to capture some good moments together, since that week was exhausting for the two of us. That night was the night I wanted to have a really good sleep and I evitated every single talk, phone call or any SMS because I really needed to rest.
Before going to bed, I told myself:
REST GOOD HANA!
