Anyone who would be in our situation wouldn't think clearly.
Our lives were at risk, everything wasn't okay. Life was still messy.
Unfortunately, it was the second day of us staying at that nasty place. It was cold. Our hands tied and mouth taped, little were we able to do.
The other day another man came, another member of all this shitty situation, but he seemed more easygoing, I mean he looked like he didn't want something bad to happen to us.
-Morning!- he said cheerfully.
We quickly woke up and with that 'not a happy face', Jon started shouting these words:
- Leave us you motherf*cker!
He seemed offended but who cares?!
- Oh, boy,- he said calmly,- I don't have the intention to make something bad happen to you.
- Aren't you?- Jon replied quickly with full of irony.
- I am just employed. That's all! My duty for today is to keep my eyes on you.
Then he took a comfortable chair and sit in front of us at a distance of 2 metres and a half. He opened the newspaper he had in his hands and started reading loudly.
- Can you read your fu*king newspaper not loudly?- Jon said.
- I am sorry, but I find it easier to read aloud, - he said innocently. At least it seems as if he was innocent.
Then after a short moment that guy, who told us that he was employed. Even if he was, that was illegal work. I am sure there are no insurances.
Oh, stop Hana! Stop thinking for that sh*t. That's not your biggest problem at the moment!
As I was telling, he interrupted his reading by saying:
- Hey, look. You two guys are in the newspaper. You are lost. Well, that's what the newspaper tells.
Everyone must have been worried for us in this 'less than this 48 hours' period of time.
After he told us this, none of us tried to speak any word.
Then he continued reading his newspaper.
Since that guy arrived here to keep an eye on us or maybe two, I think that that guy was accidentally here. He just needed money. And I don't think he would be one of those people that would try to do any harm to us. Anyway. Jon tried to have a small conversation with him. I was sure he had a plan on his head.
So I just kept listening to his words carefully to enable myself to understand Jon's plan.
-Hey. You. What's your name?- Jon asked him with a facial expression as if he wasn't interested.
-My name?! Why do you need my name? Will you denounce me in the police station?- he said. At that moment I felt that he was kinda scared by all this.
It looked like he was brought into that ugly and dangerous situation against his will.
-Yeah, man. Your name. You don't have a name?!- Jon provoked him.
- I do,- he answered shortly.
- so...
- They call me Sam. And how people do you call you?-he... I mean Sam asked us.
- Jon.
- Hana,- I talked finally after a while.
- So what are you two? Are you a couple?! - he asked.
Sam was kinda too curious.
- Why do you wanna know?- Jon asked.
- Come on, man. Just talking. That job is kinda boring I need to avoid it till the next call from the boss. Come on, tell me!- he insisted.
Well. What happened next I think was Jon's strategy. He started talking to him and he told him everything about the relationship. He told him about our relationship,
our obstacles and a lot of other things.
Jon was trying to make him compassionate for us.
-Wow, that's a good story! Once I really loved a girl, too. We were in a similar situation like yours but with our parents. We were together for a whole year but the problems that came after made us separate in our ways. And from 'Sam+Elvira', we became Sam AND Elvira.
Whatever comes after, do not let anyone or any problems keep you away from each other.
Well, I must admit. That was a piece of really suitable advice for our situation.
So what is next???
-Leave us! Our families and our friends are worried about us!-I begged him.
-I don't have the intention to hurt you. I'm just doing my job. I'm not a bad person, I just get paid to do that job. I need that money. I have two little kids. They need money to go to school.
- So you think that this is a job and a proper job to feed your family?- Jon asked him angrily.
Then I tried to tell Sam if he would help us by calling our families and friends and telling them that we are good. I was hardly hoping.
-Can you call our families and just tell them that we are ok? Please my mother must be concerned and in pain for my disappearance. My father must be worried, too. Please, do it for the sake of your two little kids. I am begging you. Please!
- I said to him with my tears falling.
He just look with his head down and said no words.
Then Jon tried to negotiate with Sam by offering him something.
- Hear me out! I have money. Well, my parents have. My mother is a lawyer and my father is a teacher. They can help you I'm sure that that they can help you by finding you a real and legal job with all the insurances you need.
Sam began to consider that offer I couldn't predict Sam's answer. I really didn't know what was going to happen next. Here is his answer:
-What jobs will they find me?- he asked and I could definitely say that he was interested.
- In any job better than this.
- I need to think about that, -he said.
After saying that, Sam left that small and dirty room and went outside. We were anxious and wanted to have hope for Sam's decision. I began praying for the best of us. We deserved to continue our life as a normal couple. We have been dating for less than a week. That's unfair for both of us!
More than 10 minutes passed.
- Come on Sam! Do the right thing! Come on!- Jon whispered.
Immediately after Jon said those words, Sam came in.
He approached and said:
- Give me your phone number!
So that was it! Sam was a person who could be the best decision for himself.
And that was the first step to our new future #FREEDOM!!!
